This year’s Julia’s Crown festival is held in honor of Saint Julia of Paradisus, the quiet healer and gentle mother, whose life was one of silent virtue and unwavering faith. Known in her time as a midwife and caretaker, Saint Julia gave herself wholly to the needs of others, tending the sick, comforting the afflicted, and living in quiet devotion to GOD. Her piety, humility, and enduring kindness earned her the love of many and her place among the Canon’s saints. In her honor, and in celebration of Lady Rosceline de Rouen, whose grace and courage mirror that of Saint Julia, we gather for a day of peace, prayer, and fellowship beneath the light of the Lord. May this festival be a reflection of the virtues she carried: gentleness, endurance, and the quiet strength of a faithful heart. And so, we welcome you to partake in the day’s blessings. Below is the order of offerings and moments shared, each crafted in the spirit of Saint Julia and the joy of the faithful. ORDER OF FESTIVAL EVENTS Liturgy of the Word Before the festival may commence, Father Gavin will hold a short mass within the cathedral. This sacred gathering serves to center the spirit and prepare the heart, setting a tone of grace and devotion before the festival begins in full. Anointing of the Expectant After mass, Father Gavin will offer blessings upon any expectant mothers in attendance. With holy oil, he shall anoint their brows in prayer for safe delivery, strength of spirit, and the sanctity of new life. The Maypole Rite: Dance of Endurance Guests will select a ribbon representing Grace (white), Strength (red), or Hope (gold). With ribbons in hand, all will join in a lively circle, running about a roped fence in joyful motion. As the dance continues, one by one may falter or fall until only one remains, the steadfast soul, a symbol of enduring faith. Festival Stations: Wreath Weaving and Candle Making Following the Maypole Rite, guests are welcome to wander the festival grounds at their leisure. By the church, wreath weaving awaits, an invitation to craft floral crowns or garlands, each bloom chosen to reflect a cherished virtue. Nearby, candle-making offers a more contemplative moment, where one may dip and scent their own devotional lights in quiet reflection. Thread and Flame Ritual As dusk settles over Alba, all shall gather for the final rite. Each guest will take the ribbon they tied in prayer and wrap it around their candle. One by one, the candles will be lit from a single flame, a symbol of unity and devotion. In reverent silence, we will walk to the chapel and place our candles before the statue of Saint Julia, letting the light speak what words cannot. GARMENTS Guests are encouraged to arrive adorned in whites, florals, or soft pastels—hues befitting Saint Julia’s gentle grace. Attire should be modest in form and pure in intent, reflecting the spirit of reverence and humility that the day calls for. July 2024 The Haense player-base is filled with tons of amazing players that dedicate a lot of time to their community. I personally was moved by the responses that served in the forum provided, but one person definitely stood out above most and therefore was selected as the player in July that ought to be recognized and appreciated. For the month of July - the player chosen was; Sandman! For those not in the Haense community or are unaware of who Sandman is - he is the Lord Marshall of the Brother of Saint Karl. The Haense army. He has helped build the BSK to what it is today and has put a TREMENDOUS amount of effort and energy into it. He has gone out of his way to host fun CRP events, engage with the community, and overall is a silly guy who is a pleasure to be around.
