Important Information In Regards To Server Policy Changes

Hey there guys - this is a thread that it is extremely important you read, and take heed of.

The staff have noticed, and have been notified lately of some players performing acts that are deemed inappropriate for the server. We have never really created rules surrounding some of these acts in particular, and many players still see them as acceptable. Therefore, from this point on the following rules are in place and will be strictly enforced:

Please see final post in this thread for the final alterations.

  • Prostitution of any kind is not permitted; this includes brothels or street prostitution.
  • Orgies are not permitted on the server.
  • The baring of any piece of genitalia (incl. breasts) is not permitted.
  • Extreme graphical violence is not permitted, moderate is (extreme graphical violence would be the type of violence shown in a film such as Saw or Final Destination).
  • Inappropriate touching or feeling even when clothed is not permitted.
  • Any strong sexual references or innuendoes are not permitted.
  • Any form of bestiality, necrophilia or paedophilia is not permitted.

In addition to this, the following disclaimer is in effect and will be displayed at the bottom of the website shortly, as well as on the website registration form.

DISCLAIMER: Parental advisory is advised. ESRB does not rate Online Interactions. Though the Lord of the Craft (shorthand: LOTC) moderates the playerbase, LOTC is not responsible for any player created content or player interactions. This includes possible blood, gore, violence, sexual content, language and/or simulated alcohol/drug use. Players are assumed they have read and accepted the terms of service and rules* of LOTC when they apply on the official forums and when they play on the Minecraft Server. All minors under the age of 13, must have parental permission before making further use of any LOTC feature.
*Rules are liable to alteration.

You will notice in this disclaimer the section about minors under the age of 13 requiring parental consent. This is a requirement. If you are under the age of 13, you will be expected to have consulted with your parents before playing or making use of any Lord of the Craft service.

We do not want to set an age-restriction on the server, therefore these rules will be kept in place permanently.

These alterations are in immediate effect, and will be enforced firmly.

Thanks,
The Lord of the Craft Staff

EDIT:

Information on Violence
The level of violence performed by the vast majority of players currently is fine - there is no change in the cap on how gruesome you can get in this thread, than there has been in the past.

I think we needed this. Things got out of hand lately with certain players. But violence? No no no no no. There is no set limit and PLEASE, so many teenagers watch violent things without blinking an eye.

  • Extreme graphical violence is not permitted, moderate is (keep it at the level you'd expect in a rated 15 film).

Could you expand on that? Does that mean nothing beyond sword fighting? You'd never see something like... torture in a 15 rated film.... The entire VA system would have to be changed if what I believe you mean by this is correct.

I have nothing to say but this...I'm shocked.

Not to be rude, but is it just me or are we now appealing to 10 year olds? Honestly, I feel babied.

In no way are we appealing to 10 year olds however, the majority of the playerbase are still minors and the content in the post above is not deemed suitable for their viewing.

Let me just also add, this topic isn't up for debate - it's set in stone for now.

By extreme graphical violence, it refers to the content that you would see in a horror film such as Saw, or Final Destination and maybe slightly less as bad as that. Torture is still permitted, of course - as long as blood isn't flying everywhere.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-!

+1.

On another note, how are you going to "limit" violence? I'm slightly confused by this. Without a set barrier nothing can really be determined as being too violent. I assume that this violence part is more lenient than the others, but I could be wrong.

Edit: Basically I'm saying the same thing as benbo, the graphical violence part needs expansion, I believe.

But brothels and prostitution were very common in the time we've set up. FTB is always enforced, so why are those things banned?

Also I'd like to add.

I think you forgot to mention pedophilia/beastiality/necrophilia isn't permitted. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Why should we take out many realistic role-play items such as brothels and such when we already knew that they would have to exist in such a world?

In response to concerns about the section about violence - note that it says "extreme graphical violence", refer to my response to Geo about that.

Well, Im 17. Im mature enough to handle everything and notice that when a 12 year old is talking about "Grabbing breasts and staring at them" then reading an emote saying for someone fondling them it gets out of hand. I felt like I was reading a porno.
