As Kahlan walks through the forest road of Malinor, she looks at her feet numbly. Her knee-high boots crunching on the snow and the leather of her bracers creaking as she made her way to Old Malinor. 

 

As she comes over the bridge, she puts her hand on her chest, unable to get over the feeling of the one thing that kept her warm being pulled as thin as a spiders web, attached to that cursed doll. She felt empty, like a hollow husk of a cicada buzzing (annoyingly) loud on the trees in the summer. Kahlan's gaze lifted as her boots stepped over the gravel, and spied the Spire in the distance. Though she had the mind to keep away after her last dealing with the Judge that dwelled inside, she knew she would be pulled there again eventually; he would make sure of that..

 

Her thoughts drifted to earlier that afternoon, telling those she cared for, yet still feeling helpless to the curse that she had yet to find relief of... She had just started to become strong, only to have that strength ripped and controlled, just as her soul had been.

 

And so Kahlan walked towards the white and black tree to wait for the one that pulls the strings.

'Battou' Pherak was leaning on a tree in between the road from Old Malinor to New Malinor. His eyes closed as he allows the Malinorian breeze to hit his face, his eyes open as he hears the disruption of gravel and snow, his crimson red gaze falling upon Kahlan, just following her path from under his hood.

"Hmm..." Is all he can muster, knowing from her body language something is really wrong but knowing, during a time of great pain and sorrow all he wanted was isolation from others. 'Battou' doesn't make any other movements other than dropping his hood looking right back to the cold unforgiving ground.
