At the beginning there were two. Mother Santiel, and Father Alras.

Santiel created the flora of the world. She helped form the mountains from the flat wastelands that was once there, added the areas where it would snow and rain, marked the land with many lakes and rivers, The world was her garden.

Alras created the fauna of the world. He created from strands of his hair the many animals that dot the land, He helped them and taught them how to live, walking among them in his favorite form, The Great Elk. The Great Elk is much larger than normal deer, its fur glows bright white like the moon. The world was his friend.

But soon the two became bored of watching the animals of their land live their short, monotone lives, and thus they used their blood to create the ascended ones, their children.

Aesuithiel - The songstress.

The First Daughter. Aesuithiel’s voice is the sounds of nature, The wind, The stream, The leaves. If listened to carefully, one may pick out the words to her songs. Aesuithiel gifted the land with the one thing her parents did not, the sounds of life.

Erynion (Revion) - Wanderer of the Woods.

The Second Son. equal parts of both Santiel and Alras, Erynion wanders the forests of the lands, helping those in need, let it be fauna or flora. Often he walks just outside of one’s vision. Using the name of Revion or Erynion, one might receive an answer.

Dûrion - The Dark One.

The First Son. Dûrion is what his father is not, he brings the dark of night to the land. Defender of the tainted, Attacker of the pure.

Calanon - The Light Bringer.

The Third Son. Calanon is as bright as his father, he brings the light of day to the land. Protector of good, Persecutor of evil.

At first things in their land were peaceful, Aesuithiel strummed out new sounds and music from her harp, Erynion wandered the forests, taking care of the fauna and flora his parents created, Dûrion taught Calanon, who is the youngest out of all of them, everything he knew about the sun and moon, of night and day. not heading Erynion's warnings against becoming close to the unstable Dûrion, Calanon grew to admire his oldest brother greatly.

After a while, Erynion and Aesuithiel grew lonely, seeing animals like the great swans of the lakes, and their own parents, happily with their own beloved caused them great jealousy and sadness.

Thus Erynion and Aesuithiel went to their mother and father, asking for them to create each of them a significant other that they too can betroth and bare children with. At first Alras and Santiel hesitated with this request, Calanon and  Dûrion seemed happy enough with just their own company, and it wouldn’t be fair to give only two of their children a lover. But after much begging They caved in and created four new beings, three girls for their sons, and one boy for their daughter.

Aesuithiel and Erynion were elated with theirs, and quickly went to go and spend their lives with their betrothed. But Alas, Calanon and Dûrion did not seem to be as happy as their brother and sister. At first they both ignored the two maidens their parents created for them. But eventually Alras convinced Calanon to take the maiden who was far more beautiful than the other. This angered Dûrion, he argued with his father that since he was born first, he should get the most beautiful maiden. Alras refused to give in to his eldest son’s demands, and at first he thought that he had won his son’s argument when Dûrion took the lesser fair Maidens hand in marriage.

But that was a ruse, On the day of the wedding, Dûrion slashed his wife’s throat with a poisoned blade, which left her to die slowly at the feet of Alras and Santiel. He then fled from his family, and hid in the many caverns that scared the land. At first Alras was enraged, but he could not bring himself to kill his first born. Meanwhile Dûrion turned into a more tainted version of himself while hiding away in the dark caverns. Not much is known of what happened to him down there, but many agree that he discovered a being that his parents had thought they had buried deep into the ground long ago, a being that oozed hate, resentment, and pure evil. Whatever this creature was, it either gave its powers to Dûrion, or possessed Dûrion’s body.

Dûrion came out of the caverns, and immediately despised what he saw. Calanon was betrothed to the fair maiden, and didn’t seem to have even missed Dûrion’s absence. In fact, none of his family seemed to have missed him, they were all too preoccupied with their significant others. Jealousy turned into anger and hate, and with his new powers, he gave a curse to his sibling’s spouses. He shortened their life-span significantly, enough that they would only last, at most, six to eight decades, which would go by in the blink of an eye to the immortal beings. As well as the curse of infertility.

After cursing his brothers and sister, Dûrion went back into the mountain’s caverns to create a new wife for himself. Using his own blood, and his new found power, he tried to create a maiden far more beautiful than Calanons. but his power tainted his new wife’s skin, as well as give her the same curse that was placed on the siblings spouses. With his power drained from creating her, Dûrion settled for her as his wife, then went into a deep, long, slumber after their wedding night.

Meanwhile, Alras had tried everything he could to break the curse set on his children’s spouses, but to no avail. The only thing he could do for them is to gift them with the ability, that on their final breath, their souls will enter a animal, and forever be stuck in an immortal vessel.

Their children had the same curse of infertility. But through generations and generations, the curse of a shortened life weakened. It never fully dispersed from their bodies, but they lived far longer than their predecessors, the oldest was recorded to have lived almost two-hundred decades.
