Demotheus 651 Share Posted February 14, 2014 This is relatively simple. I think it would be beneficial for the denial of applications to be removed completely, except under certain circumstances. Conditions for Denial: Trolly application 3 days of pending after having given feedback without an update on the application thread OP. If after 3 days an application is denied/trashed, and the user either a) posts an application again before the 24 hour "cool down" is up, denied outright, add 24 more hours. b) Posts the same application they did the first time without addressing or at least attempting to address the issues brought up in the feedback by the AT member. It'd be more streamlined if we didn't just outright deny someone, but rather put them on pending, review their application, and then tell them what's wrong and what they need to do to have it fixed, etc. Give the feedback, in other words. Then, keep it as pending for a max of 3 days. If in 3 days they have not made significant changes to the OP and bumped the thread, it gets "trashed" or denied, and they have to wait 24 hours to apply again. I think this would be more streamlined, and player-friendly. It might require a bit more effort on the AT's part for certain things such as keeping track of the player if he posts another application, making sure that there is some sort of list in the AT chat or whatever that details which AT member has reviewed who's application, and then remove that applicant's name upon acceptance or something like that. Pro's and Cons. . . Pro's -happier applicants, can fix the issues at hand immediately and get into the server more quickly assuming they improve on the feedback the AT member has given. They don't have such a strong feeling of dread when they see "denied", knowing that even if they fix all those issues within the next hour, or even several hours, they still have to wait. -Would keep things more organized and consistent, as the AT member who reviewed the applicant's application initially would stick to that applicant (though not restricted to them). In the current system, one AT member could deny someone for something, they could redo their application, still have it wrong, and then another could deem that as satisfactory. Thus, it's more consistent. -No need to clutter the whitelist application sub-forum with threads, when every attempt to update their application would be on a single thread, in most cases, thus no longer needing the 24 hour rule. -Applicant doesn't feel like they are outright being punished for something already by failing an attempt at making an application to standard before they even get on the server, and is less stressed out as a result, with less pressure put on them. Cons: -A bit more work/awareness of each other in the AT. -Honestly can't think of any. Tell me what you think below!
Quavinir_Twiceborn 1050 Share Posted February 14, 2014 ... Nope - nope... The AT's work would sky-rocket, and we'd all have to keep track of our apps - and acceptance and denials would take ages longer.

Moot 1719 Share Posted February 14, 2014 TL'DR But this is a really good idea. I remember when I was denied my first two times, it stung. I nearly gave up! It'd be great if instead of denying people, we let them fix their app and give them a better chance. Whats the point of making people wait so long to get on our server? I personally really like this concept.

26Jayden (Cordero) 5 Share Posted February 14, 2014 Sometimes people's applications are just bad and they need to be denied. Completely agree. Just like in RP, there are times that you lose, but that just makes it better when you come back. If a person gets denied and doesn't come back, maybe they never really where cut out for the server in the first place. Just a thought.
Demotheus 651 Author Share Posted February 14, 2014 Sometimes people's applications are just bad and they need to be denied. No they don't. They need to be improved. The AT wouldn't get that much more of a workload since the app and updates would ideally be one thread per applicant.

MamaBearJade 2090 Share Posted February 14, 2014 demo, they already do "pending" for apps. At least as much as possible. You really should try the team FIRST before criticizing it.

Overland 349 Share Posted February 14, 2014 If the word 'denied' is harsh, perhaps we could change it to something else, I know of another server which uses 'Deferred' but that may not seem the same. As for the idea itself, I don't think it would be to easy to manage, sorry.
Tom_Whiteman 949 Share Posted February 14, 2014 Bad idea. The app system is fine the way it is, no changes are needed. Bad idea. Thnx. Bye.
