Second Bill on the Orthodoxy

as authored by Wilfriche Buron

---

This handbill aims to expand on the faith of the Orthodoxy. It is recommended to read the first Bill, known as “First Pamphlet on the Orthodoxy”, to those wholly unaware of the faith. These series of pamphlets seek to educate the masses of the True Faith, but in particular, its sect of Ruskan Orthodoxy.

  • The Orthodox Husaria Cross:

The Orthodox Cross differs from the Imperial Lorraine Cross in that it has three horizontal lines over two, and the middle line has small vertical lines beneath it. This symbolizes the ascension of those pious towards Godanistan over the arbitrary flat lines of the Imperial Cross. It was designed by the venerated Architecus Vekaro Husaria of the Hussaria basin in Aegan Raev, thus leading to the Cross itself being called the Orthodox Husaria Cross when compared with the Imperial Lorraine Cross. The Orthodox cross has three lines to symbolize Oblivion, the lowermost, the mortal plane, and the Seven Skies above.

  • Stance on Interracial Marriage and Fornication:

The Ruskan Orthodoxy is absolute in its dealings when it comes to the relations between mortals of different race. Fornication outside of marriage is forbidden and condemnable, while interracial marriage can only occur in cases with a petition to the Church hierarchy.  In sum, we shall look to the words of St. Siegmund to understand why interracial unions should be considered with caution.

“Every race was granted one curse by Iblees and one boon by Aeriel through the Creator’s Will. To mix races would go against Godanistan by actively and willingly creating beings twice-cursed by Iblees, twice-tainted by his wicked ways. Even if they may possess two boons, the mark of Iblees is stronger than the blessing of Aeriel, and they will be more tainted than redeemed. This will hinder their lives greatly, ostracizing them from their society and marking them damned.”

The most grave form of race-mixing is to mix elf and man; for their respective curses overpower their weaknesses, creating an impotent, short-lived, cast-out who has no blessing from Aeriel, and thus none from Godanistan. Children of this union must be avoided at all cost as to preserve their respective races. While the products of interracial unions may still be redeemed of sin and be able to walk the Skies, we should hold their parents accountable for their misdeed in condemning their offspring to twin curses, given that they conceived this child without permission and consideration of the Church.

Fornication outside of wedlock is often condemned as not only does it desecrate the bodies given to us by Godanistan by neglecting the sacred union of matrimony, but it also leads to the impoverished bastardy, whom are subject to a horrid life lacking in a strong familial bond. The Orthodoxy believes that every child, every mortal creation of Godanistan, should sleep soundly knowing that their respective mother and father chose to be wed instead of being a product of carnal lust.

  • The dubbing of the Limbo as the Stynian Wastes:

Under the pretense that the Limbo state between the mortal plane and the Seven Skies is where souls whom have committed a life of good yet failed to accept Godanistan, I have chosen to name it the Stynian Waste. This name stems from its concept; while not soul-crushing and void of life as Oblivion, the Stynian Wastes, or Stynia, is derelict, a shoddy plane unfit for the wise and pious. The term Stynia refers to the ancient Raevan clerical term used to describe the regions where pagans, heathens, and heretics settled; thus, in conjecture, the term aptly defines the abyss of the limbo state where infidels of good character ascend to.

  • The Redemption of Gregory Fisher:

This is the record of the story of Gregory Fisher, recorded by Pyotr the Goatherd in the year of 1452. It is a staple proverb of Godanistan’s forgiveness, the foresight and compassion of Bogdanistan, which all holymen should value, and that of a humble man’s redemption.

“When I was little whelp, name of Gregory Fisher, made committing of many sins. The slaying of many, as you are seeing was most. Godanistan cursed for bloodlust of mine. Becoming of transition between man, and kebab… A dark time, but I did learn to repent. It was here, where this small Gregory Fisher is strucking by mortal blow, falling into swirling Brigand’s pass… But Bogdanistan knew my faith and potention, and appealed to Godanistan. So forth, was reborn Jorji Fjzher, warrior of Fourth Sky. And here am I.”

  • The Hierarchy of the Orthodoxy:

The Hierarchy of the Orthodoxy remains largely consistent with the ones established by other sects of the faith. However, given the Orthodoxy’s linguist differences, the titles of each rank differ and they are minor differences in the respective duties. As the Orthodoxy faith, these abstract ranks may be defined further and further to efficiently promote the faith. In reference to these ranks, the common or raevir name can be used. The plural for raevir titles is to end the title in “i”, rather than “s”, aside from the Kaplan (Kaplans is correct, but Episkops and Alphiskops are inaccurate; the correct plural form is Episkopi and Alphiskopi)

- The Acolytes (Acolytes) of the Orthodoxy

The Acolyte are those beginning to undertake the Faith. Beginning unoathed and lacking in the basic clerical education required to become a priest of the Orthodoxy, they are expected to live pious lives in this “trial period”. They have little duties in the Church hierarchy, aiding their superiors in mass, scribe-work, missionary work, and studying various religious and secular texts. They are expected to abide to the tenets of the Church, but considering that they are initially unoathed, they are not to hold mass or conduct other rites. However, they are permitted to lead weddings and conduct in formal baptisms after their first chosen oath.. As they master the rites and intricacies of the faith, they may be oathed further and further until finally ordained to the Church as official members.

- The Priests (Kaplan) of the Orthodoxy

In the Orthodoxy, there is no distinction between a deacon, priest, or monk; the oaths of Orthodoxy mean that the Kaplans, or Priests, are hieropriests in practice; able to spend their time cloistered or actively converting and preaching the true faith. The priests are permitted to administer all rites aside from inducting people into Holy Orders. They may be granted tasks from their respective superiors, but otherwise are expected to promote the faith through holding regular mass, confession of sins, leading communities spiritually, educating the youth in theology, converting infidelsl, and so forth. They are to be addressed as Borsa “Name”, or Brother.

- The Bishops (Episkop) of the Orthodoxy

The Episkopi are the bishops of the Faith, serving an Archbishop and often supervising a group of priests in administering the faith. Acting as members of the College of Bishops in representing the Faith and promoting Creatorism, Bishops often act as stewards to portions of Archdioceses, addressing more local concerns while the Archbishops, or Alphiskopi, above them deal with general issues regarding the region. They are to be referred to as Pan “Name”, or your grace.

- The Archbishop (Alphiskop)  of the Orthodoxy

The Alphiskopi are the 2nd highest in hierarchy just as in other sects of the True Faith; they are to run entire tracts of land, collecting tithe, managing the Faith on a grander scale. They are to be referred to as Kopus “Name”, or your Holiness.

- The Patriarch (Patriarch) of the Orthodoxy

The Patriarch of the Orthodoxy is the head of the Orthodoxy sect. He is not the ultimate authority on Church affairs, as that role is still relegated to the High Pontiff. However, he is the authority on Orthodox specific matters, such as constructions of the Raevir language or rites of the sect. He can be a High Pontiff, but must be at least an Archbishop in rank. He is referred to those whom acknowledge his authority as Magnate “Name”.

- The High Pontiff of the Faith

The High Pontiff holds the same role in other sects as he does in Orthodoxy; acting as supreme autocrat of the Faith and head of Church.

Lark notes the cross was designed by the Kraltan Artisians, not Bogdanistan. At least this is what he thinks.

"It does not say within the pamphlet that it was designed by St. Bogdanistan. It was designed by Architecus Vekaro of the Aegean Raev."
