The joyful cries of the combined forces carried on the wind after their triumph over the undead hordes that assaulted Alras, though it was not without losses. The fresh blood of slain soldiers was upon the ground and those responsible had fell back into the shadows from whence they came, unsatisfied. This was only set back, there would be no peace for the inhabitants of the fringe. It was injustice, a crime above all others to force chaos upon a settling people. Such a grievous injustice in fact that it would not go unnoticed.



Deep beneath the crust of earth there sat a set of armor and linen robes, untouched by time and mortal hands. As the wraiths retreated back into their hideaways something disturbing began to unfold. A flicker of light would appear in the darkness of the abyssal cavern, the viridescent energy illuminating the limestone caverns like the sun itself. The earsherdding sound of metal bending and scraping against stone echoed across the natural tunnels as the energy drew in the discarded platemail and robes, morphing it around its ethereal form. When all was silent there stood a wraith-like entity whose form emitted a emerald light as bright as roaring flames. With determination the being set forth from the abyssal depths of the caverns into the bitter cold of the fringe’s snow blanketed plains.



Like a tinted lantern did the being cast its unnatural light across the gloomy fields of moonlit ivory flakes. Its gauntlet opened and within its palm materialized a ghastly weapon, a warhammer fit for an orc that shimmered with the same unnatural hue as the being itself. And sounding forth from the being would be a single word, echoed and sinister.
