The Media Wizard 2958 Share Posted May 12, 2014 Hey, everyone. If you don't already know me, I probably know you - do with that as you will. But, getting down to the topic today is somewhat of great urgency. I've spent almost all of my Anthos and Fringe time on the Media Team, learning and listening to those who come and go from our ranks. And after all this time, I see the true problem: We are people. The Media Team is made up of teenagers, young adults and maybe even some older fellows. But what doesn't change is that we are all people deep down. We have flaws and complications and disadvantages. Listing off a few I've seen are: stereotyping, passive-aggressiveness, holding onto the past, mood swings, distancing and dishonesty. What do these mean? They mean that we cannot all clearly see what you all want. We cannot seep into your minds and pick out what you wish to see. We can only read your comments and use our own desires. Does this ever work? Well, take LotC With Me into consideration. What is it to you? To me, it is myself: spontaneous, comical, arrogant and careless. What about the LotC-BC? I see it as informative, strict and unchanging. Who else do I see with these traits? LEGO_XBOX. Our shows are the embodiments of ourselves! What we produce is what we are. Why is LotC With Me met with praise and such? Perhaps its because I speak out without thinking and consequences. That is what a server likes; something fun and like themselves! And who watches LotC-BC? Those who wish to be informed and taught. Do they ever post? Most likely not, considering they must put their newfound knowledge to work! Now comes the big question: did this purge of the MT do anything? The answer is simple. No. Sky had the right thoughts, but he must also remember that we do things out of fun and out of our own desires. Every MT member is different and unique to the distribution of content. This may appeal to some groups, but some niches will inevitable be left out. A new or prospective player seeking news and information would likely be confused; not only by LoTC-BC, but also by LoTC With Me. I-I mean, LoTC With Me is funny, but not very-- Oh god-- don't crucifix me! HOW DARE YOU?! No, but in all seriousness, I agree. The thing that can make a joke funny is making it personal to a group. Like one of my favorite comedians Daniel Tosh points out, there is a point when a joke only pertains to a certain group of people. I make jokes based off my knowledge and groups I interact with. As a TEAM, you can take the best of your personalities, as you say, and throw out the worst. Critique each other, teach each other, learn from each other, and work AS A TEAM, and you'll most likely make something the server can use/needs. Right now, the server DOES NOT need news, as has been repeated countless times. If we were a server that hosted twice as many people, we could use that, but we aren't. We need to get our name out there, we need to show the world the best qualities of LotC (battles, races, lore, events). I've hearing alot of stuff that's able to be done in the reformed team with the help of folks who were pulled into it, but everyone's fooling around with their 60-second videos and their cliche' mainstream media-esque projects and don't show interest in stuff that would actually catch peoples attention -- like artwork and the like, which one member of the team, as I've heard, wants to try to provide but cannot get people to help with the venture itself. 1 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
Korvic 930 Share Posted May 12, 2014 Recently joining the MT, I don't have much room to talk on the way it fully works, as I haven't seen it in full action from start of a project to the end. However what I'm hoping for is that, with good leadership, constant checking, we get big server projects done. What else we do is up to us, but it can be done as a media thing for the server as we like. Good communication is key, as long as MT has it, it should be fine, without it any team would fall. LotC With Me is my own separate project. I do that for fun and to fulfill the entertainment factor of the few who watch and enjoy it. On top of that, I work on trailers and such as well to aid in the server's well being. LotC With Me is more so for my benefit in learning to edit better and to reach out to our current community with jokes. In its essence lies a comedy that is made purposely to poke fun with the viewers. Yes, we fool about with some of our videos. But, if you'd care to share any ideas, we would be happy to hear. Perhaps pull together some things that you'd like to see in a trailer. Instead of "more battles" you can suggest certain raids, ET events, wars and more! Our media depends on specifics. If the community is not willing to support our ventures towards our own interpretations of its posts, then we have no room or reason to listen to any more posts.
