Jorik Stands In Front Of The Crowd

*Jorik Grandaxe walks and presents himself in front of the crowds of people waiting to vote. He stands as the crowd slowly quiets and looks to him. He pauses for a long while in the silence and looks over the crowd of his kin. After a long while he speaks.*

 

 

 

I’m proud, look around. Look at all of your fellow dwarves. We are a proud race. One that has seen victory, turmoil and strife. Yet, through all of it we somehow pull ourselves out. We somehow see ourselves standing here today. We are a great nation, and do not lose sight of that. However, we must face it. We are a great nation in decline. 

 

 

 

*pauses for a long moment*

 

 

We are great. We have greatness in all of us. One day, we may see the true fall of the dwarves. But, as long as people like you and I are here, that day shall not come. We have the motivation, the drive, to make this Kingdom as great as it once was. The Grand Kingdom that our forefathers made for us. We have shown that we are worthy of greatness. We are worthy of a Grand Kingdom. 

 

 

*stops and looks around with a humble and proud look on his face*

 

 

I hide nothing from you. The one and only thing I strive for is to do each and everything I can to form not only a great nation, but a nation who is truly great in its actions. I present to you my one and only motive. I will make this nation what it has the potential to be. A King is not a tyrant, A King is someone who serves the people not someone who watches the people serve him. 

 

 

*clasps his hands together tightly before bowing slowly and leaving*
