Hey all. I thought it would be fun to do a Star Wars RP. However, I thought I'd get some help deciding exactly what time in the Star Wars universe the RP will take place. The three options are summarized below:

 

The Galactic War/Old Republic/Inter-Sith War Period - 3642-3640 BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin)

This period would be during the time period that the video game SWTOR (Star Wars: The Old Republic) takes place. Essentially, there is a large scale, galactic war between the Old Republic and the Sith Empire. Naturally, Sith forces work with the Empire and the Jedi Order is aligned with the Republic. Both sides employ many bounty hunters and smugglers to bolster their ranks during the war, and the armies are comprised of mostly hired or conscripted soldiers, supplemented by various types of battle droids. Technology is largely the same as it is in the movies/later periods, however cloning is in the very early stages of development and a clone army does not exist.

 

The Clone Wars/The Fall of the Republic/The Rise of the Empire Era - 22-19 BBY

This period would be mainly comprised of the second and third movies (chronologically), as well as the animated series The Clone Wars. During this time, the Republic, backed by the Jedi Order, is at war with the Confederacy of Independent Systems, also known as the Separatists. The Republic employs an army that is almost entirely made up of clone troopers, clones of a bounty hunter named Jango Fett. The Separatists use an army of manufactured battle droids.

 

The Rebellion Era/After the Battle of Yavin - 0-3 ABY (After the Battle of Yavin)

During this period, the Empire, formerly known as the Republic, rule over the galaxy. The Jedi Order has been all but wiped out. The Imperial army is a mix of clones leftover from the previous war and conscripted or hired soldiers of all races. The Rebel Alliance works to bring down the tyrannical empire headed by the Sith lords, Sidious and Vader. The last remaining Jedi, Luke Skywalker, works with the increasing organized rebels as full scale battles rage across the galaxy.

 

Some Rules and Guidelines

- No powergaming. Every character, even a Jedi, has strengths and weaknesses. Your character should not me significantly more powerful than everyone else's - keep others in mind!

- No metagaming. This one is self explanatory.

- Make up your own character. If there is a character that already exists in the universe and you'd really like to play him/her, contact me and we'll discuss it.

- Be patient! A response to your interactions with other could take anywhere from a few minutes to a few days. People get busy, and the goal of this forum RP isn't to go as quickly as possible; it's to last as long as possible (think the old Zombie Forum RP, for anyone who knows that one).

- There are consequences to every action, and sometimes one of those consequences could be death. Know that attempts on the lives of others could result in the permanent death of your character. Should that happen, you're always welcome to make a new one.

- The above being said, if a situation arises in the course of RP where your character may quickly or even easily kill one or several enemies, kill NPCs. It's no fun for another player to lose their character just out of the blue!

- Conflict isn't everything. Some or even all of the RP that occurs could be peaceful! The Star Wars universe is full of celebration, politics, intrigue, trade, travel, exploration, socialization, and everything else that fills our own lives.

 

That's about it. I'd love to coordinate more with everyone interested to possibly determine a specific location so we're all not spread out across the galaxy, and maybe work out other details of the RP. Finally a character-based forum rp... I can only hope that this gets noticed.  You may want to put out some statuses tomorrow to increase the chances of people taking a look over this... I'll help.

 

For timelines, any would make an entertaining rp. however, each has one or two details that could be small problems.

 

If anyone wanted to be a Sith during the Clonewars/Rebellion eras, it wouldn't be canon.

Buuut that is easily circumvented if we're going into our little own reality of canon that has sprinklings of non-canon, which is fun.

 

Actually, It's 2am and I'm exhausted, and in no condition to render advice or put together coherent sentences. Sleep time.

Glad to hear there's interest! If you guys have Skype, it might be easier to discuss specifics through that medium instead. If not, then we can try maybe a large inbox or discuss things here.

 

As for the Empire, star fleets, armies, etc., that can be done by both me as a moderator and by others in general! Part of what I enjoy about character-based forum RP is that the world can be shaped and created by the players. In addition, there are resources online where people can go and look up answers to specific questions they have. So right now, it looks like the setting will be during The Galactic War. I think this is probably best, as it allows for the most options in terms of character creation and different kinds of RP. I think I'm going to get the RP started at some point soon tonight, and people can jump in whenever they feel ready. We don't all have to be in the same place or even on the same planet, but grouping up and interacting with other players can make things both more fun and easier to follow!

The difference between the Sith and a dark Jedi is that one has more prominent access to unnatural forms of power such as Sorcery and Illusions. Whilst the other is just the basic feed the force your hate deal. Any dark force users situated in the clone wars would be classified as Dark Jedi unless they managed to somehow get a Sith Spirit to teach them the Sith way instead. Only those apart of the rule of two count as being Sith, people like the Assassin Ventress are dark Jedi.
