Changes In Haelun'or?

Not sure if I am supposed to do this IC or Ooc so I’m just going to say what I want to say. My first few days in the city have been eventful. Trolls raids and wolf girls and all the good stuff in between. However I have some complaints/suggestions to those of higher power in the city. I've noticed that there is a lack of protection on the walls. Now I know that most people prefer not to rp as soldiers, but I think the Sillumir needs to increase its ranks fast. I suggest sending a caravan or something in search of people willing to join. I would like to see all able body citizens be drafted into the guard but that's just me. Watching some of those puffed up idiots walk around in their robes acting all high and mighty gets my blood boiling.  Ic and Ooc. If your fit to walk around judging everyone else you are fit to hold a sword in defence of your city. Also I really do hope we can start fortifying the gates in the near future. As much as some people like to think it. The current situation with the walls is not going to cut it. Also I suggest th three different races of elves schedule some type of high council or something. I know the whole impure you probably have relations with your sister blah blah blah. Can we just cut the crap for a moment. None of this purity stuff is going to matter if we do not work together. We are supposed to be the most superior races of all. So surely we can put aside our hatred for one another to ensure our survival.  I know that some more experienced players might be thinking "Who the **** does this guy think he is??!" Well I just want to get more involved with you guys. Maybe my ideas are crap maybe not. Perhaps it will help to just consider them....please?

You are friends of Oren. Work with the military of Oren to plan for future defenses. We could possibly even assist with building defenses in your city. Oren is your strongest ally, work together.

Let me recommend you to rewrite the post in a more.. roleplay-ish way and post it as a note or the like! The Mali'aheral ways isn't to be changed through OOC-complaints. You should also try and contact some of the more veteran High Elven players to get some help if you have any questions! They can also help you understanding the reasoning behind how the High Elves act! And remember, it's all RP and funnies.

Not sure

The High Elven way has lasted much longer than anything the other Elven subraces have employed. This endurance has caused us to grow very arrogant (more than before!) and thus believe that our walls are impenetrable. Elsillumir are for monitoring the gates and dealing with riff-raff as well as campaigns on foreign soil rather than watching walls we believe are impregnable.

Conscription or drafting is a massive no-no. It goes against all our beliefs.

Onto the purity thing, Mali'ker and Mal'ame can be pure in their own racial ways, and as such, we treat those pure Mali with a good level of respect (perhaps not quite as much as the Chivay humans). However, we do show disdain on impure beings of any race, specifically races or groups branded totally as impure (Orcs) or those who go against our ideals (Clerics).

The three races of Mali do communicate, we often visit the other cities for talks and such, although I don't know the full extent of this since i'm not in the Mali'aheral leadership. We hold no bad blood between us and cooperate often, especially now that all the Mali are united under the Silver banner (well, nearly all).

You need to remember that yes, we do act like dicks'n'pricks IC, we don't dispute that. However, we're a great lot OOC'ly and we're always happy to listen to suggestions OOC. In terms of IC, we're arrogant but we're not suicidal. We have a good grip on the idea of self-preservation and I assure you we aren't going anywhere soon.

Welcome to the city of the High Elves. They act superior because that's their culture: they geniunely believe they're better than other races. Preaching equality and liberalism is likely to get you evicted from the city as an impure. The last character to try this, Kolyat of Malinor, is so hated by the High Elves that one tried to have his name outlawed in the city as an unforgiveable expletive. High Elves also loathe crossbreeding. To suggest the High Elves tolerate impures is not going to go down well with them.

That being said, that's all in character. How the High Elven characters act is not a reflection of the players who play them any more than players who play orcs have issues speaking and recreationally kill parents.

(perhaps not quite as much as the Chivay humans)

Of course, we all know the main reason the High Elves respect the Chivays is because the Chivays have the power to crush Haelun'or into itty bitty bits of silver and blue dust, and the High Elves really pissed off the only faction capable of remotely opposing Oren's military might.

I am unsure why it keeps coming up but I will address the issue.

Government heirachy:

Sohaer

2 Medi'ir

Mali'ame and Mali'ker Leaders.

The high elves have a council. It's called the triumvirate. The triumvirate works with the 2 or three leaders from the other two subraces. Which is why you now have a district for both. We actually worked with them to form a government for 4.0 already.

Yes the triumvirate has power over the other districts, and the Sohaer has power over everything basically but everyone knew this going into it and it is working fine. What this means is the mali'ker and ame are subjected to the same benefits as the aheral. Namely protection via Oren instead of possibly being hunted by them.

Just because we don't have princes and a high prince doesn't mean we don't have a council. There very much is one.

Also the alliance with the Humans isn't just an IC thing. They have treated us very warmly ever since Anthos and they continue to do so. It's a mutual respect ICly and OOCly that the dwarves/orcs and snelves never gave.

Our IC truce works because we are friendly to each other in OOC.

The council of Haelun'or is the triumvirate of Haelun'or lead by the Sohaer (Kalenz Uradir [supremacyOps]) and the two Medi'ir (Silir and Iatrilemar [sirSmithers and BrandNewKitten]. The other races have their own leadership but they ultimately still live within Haelun'or, which is lead by the Silver Council which is the Triumvirate.

This Triumvirate cooperates with the leaders of the other races and as of yet the other subracial leaders have yet to complain about a single thing. What is happening in Haelun'or appears to be working well, at least more than other systems have in the past.

There are two ways to determine who leads all elves. The first is to look at the nation they fall under and then who leads that nation. If you do it that way, the leader of all elves, at the moment, is the Sohaer, for the Sohaer leads Haelun'or which all other elves live in.

If you determine who the leader is by the election of all elves, that is still the Sohaer because the current Sohaer won said election... So it is a non-issue.

Alot of what you're saying is true but i feel the elves do no act arrogant enough, concerning our military power we should really go about developing better tactics as opposed to recruiting more people as we will always be numerically inferior to the armies of the other nations

Considering the recent battles I would venture to say the humans aren't as strong as everyone thought

But but but... We already take our arrogance vitamins once a day! ;(

Seriously though. Anymore arrogant and we start killing each other based on fingernail length.

Considering the fact that the high elves are perfectly fine to serve as cannon fodder for a supposedly inferior race.. I'd have to disagree

I thought you said that the high elven military is incredibly small. How can you use three or four people as cannon fodder?

I think Narthok wants to see something similar to the elves of TES, where they went on a conquest at one point to take over the world, is this right? Do you want to see elven conquest? If this is so, i mist point out the supposed elven blessing, that of a peaceful domain.

I don't want an elven conquest I'd just like to see an independent elf nation capable of defending itself, Peace must be fought for

I suggest you do not believe everything that is posted. There are often false claims of victory.
