„Listen to me, my children, my blood and life… I do not have much time left…“    Silus coughs a few times, furrowed brows, forehead glistening from sweat.   „I am not… a great man of speeches, but I shall… try for a last and probably first time…“   A faint smile shows on the face of the half-blind Horen, the skin pale and a ged. The sustained wound from the assassination attempt and the accumulated years of endured wounds and events seemingly took the remains of Silus’ strength. Bound to bed for the past few days, his hair has lost the rest of its color... a worn out man he was now.

“You are the future of House Horen... the blood of Horen himself flows in you... you are dragons, no matter what they say. If not...”   A coughing attack interrupts Silus briefly, but he continues.  “If not in body then at least with will and mind...”  A glance to his two sons, a sad expression shows on his face.  “But there is something which I... began to value too late... your rel atives... your family, brothers, sisters, cousins, uncles and aunts... your parents as well... I am sorry that I was unable to be a better father. But now you see...”  Coughing and coughing again. “...that my time is coming... You are grown up now. You need your old man no more... I had a long life of adventures and enjoyment... So much yet to be done, but... I am satisfied...”

“Crius... you bear the responsibility of being the lord... you must lead the house on... you must ensure that there will be another generation to carry the blood and will of Horen... rely on your friends and even more on your family to help you with that... most of all...” His gaze switches to his second son.

“Ilaustius... please heed these last words of mine... be a good friend to your brother... help him... support him...” Lightly coughing he turns on to Acquilina.

“Acquilina, dear... my princess, forgive me that I could not have been a better father... and that I might not witness your marriage... or even grandchildren...” His gaze wanders on to the other people.

“Aurelia... take care of Crius... grudge him not and support him fairly... be... a good wife...”

“Albrecht, you are... a strong man... be a true dragon... stay loyal to... your family and protect it...”

“Henry... I will either see you in hell or heaven... you were... a good friend to me... old lad...”

“For all... others I can not... find... any words... right now, please take care of yourselves... and your family... stay true... to your blood...”

Closing his eyes for a last time, a smile on his face, a cough, and yet a tear running down his blind eye... “Aaah, Beron... what would you say? Quite the view it was, the seas of the East...” A light shuddering breath and endless silence.

Silus Iullius Horen.

Born in the year 1405 on Elysium. Last breath in the year 1460 in the Fringe lands.

His last will is due to be made public.

Common Out of Character Section:

Thank you for reading this one final post for the life of Silus Iullius Horen, yet another character I played for a year, yes, even more than a year, my longest character thus far and probably the best developed character I had in my two years of LotC.

I wish to thank all the people for the RP I had throughout this time, I wish to specially thank Mogroka here for allowing me to be Silus Iullius Horen. I do hope I was able to make the roleplay with Silus enjoyable, with all its twists and turns.

I started playing him when he was roughly 18 and kept him up as my main character for 37 ingame years as it seems. He was Lord High Treasurer, Duke, a spy for the Carrions, a king, an exiled king, a locksmith, advisor, inventor of the steam heart, constructed the three Steam golems Archon, Diadoch and Triarch, learned his ways in the art of magic for fire and arcane evocation, married Tricia Horen and had three children with her. Other than that he was an enjoyable and sometimes controversial character to be.

No, this is not a farewell post for LotC, even though it may appear as such. If you have any comments and notes, you are free to PM me or leave a comment below your RP post below. Thank you.

An old, grizzled warrior stands in the Seven Skies, watching as the Old Orener makes his final journey. The man wasn't well known, a simple guard standing watch, whether by force of habit or not, over the countless stream of souls entering the promised paradise above. His eyes are dull, but gain a slight glint as they watch Silus pass.

A withered goatee and a dastardly birthmark turn to Silus. The rusted sword sits beside him, and two gray eyes narrow. His boots softly clunk upon whatever ethereal surface makes up the next world.

"Horen, aye...?" his slow, methodical speech contains little emotion as he speaks to the now deceased Silus. "I saw you... many a'time. Many a'place. I expected you... t'last longer. You know... It's strange. The dead who pass through 'ere are always distraught. Confused. Depressed. Many wish to go back. For... promises they never kept, apologies they had to make... people they wanted to be... Tell me..."

While in death, you do not need to breathe, the old warrior exhales, fixing his eyes on Silus. Whether the dead man would continue on through the skies silently, or answer, the ghostly voice remained the same, speaking the words slowly and clearly.

"Was your life worth living?"

*Crius walks up to his father that lays dormant in the bed. A singular tear rolls down his cheek as he wipes it away and goes to kiss his father on the forehead. He takes out Uron and places it vertical on his fathers stomach and places his hands around the sword. He stands up and walks away saying nothing.*

Ostromir smiles, seeing Sillus once again after much time.

"Forgive me, Sillus. What I did was only a matter of family and legacy. When I exiled you to the Lost Isles it was only on the intent of keeping the Horen-kin away from my throne; if there where not a better option I would of chosen it."

Lark claps Silus on the back as he motions him towards the Seven Skies bar, "Good ta' see yeh Silus, I see ya' were vereh buseh, made me proud. Making steam golems..da..vereh good. Come 'ave drink an' take a load off, yeh 'ave earned it."

Avgust stops working his forge as talk of the Steam Dragon's death reaches Vekaro, now in his early teens, the young Raevir rubs soot and tears from his eyes, wondering who will help him with engineering now..
