What Lies Beyond The Veil

“In the beginning, there was nothing.

Darkness, an emptiness, incomprehensible by man or Mali alike.

But then, a great light was born out of this darkness, and with it, the first of the newly anointed Creator’s creations drew breath.

At least, that is how the stories go. But in all of my long years have I never seen something so absolutely vile and provocatively soul rending as what I’ve seen this day to question what for so long we held as fact.

That something else, lies beyond the veil, beyond the realms of our “God”. Who, or what though, has yet to reveal itself, fortunately, past one occurrence.

5th of  Itnan, 1365, The Deep Cold

Skravria, a home to the independent Kingdom of the now forgotten Skravrain line, that is where “it” happened.

For a long while, the kingdom was called the “Witch Kingdom”, for the large and overabundant users of magic, who I must agree, abused their frivolous magics in order to impress one another, to what end I otherwise could not see. But it was in this abuse that they called forth a horror from which I can only ascertain as being “the great beyond”. A creature, wreathed in a foulness I had not seen since the great war against the vile Daemon Iblees and his minions. But that was not the worst part about this creature no, I could sense what it was doing to the citizens of Skravria, I could sense a soulless monster feeding on the populace, stealing memories, stealing dreams. For what reason, I do not know, but I do know was that I felt my very fiber shudder as my connection to the void stabbed into the back of my neck like knives. The experience was terrifying, and it left me for the most part, incapable of fighting back.

The creature from what I learnt, was born from the thinning of the veil, the boundary that separates our world from the void. A thinning caused by the overabundance and usage of Arcane magic by a handful of users in one single place.

When I could finally move again, I had heard that the beast had been banished back into the nothingness that it came from. “Demon” “Demon”, that was what could be heard whispered through the streets. In all of my long years of hearing that word and dismissing it, I believe I finally found something worthy of such a name.

“Demon”

It was from this day that I knew that in order for Arcane magic to continue to survive, steps would have to be taken to mediate the usage of Arcane magic, so that such a travesty could never happen again. We were lucky that only one of such creatures have appeared so far, but with the continuing usage of voidal magics on the rise, we may soon start seeing much larger incursions of these “Demons”. These creatures of Darkness, perhaps even the bane of creation, though that is speculation, though it puts into question the writings of the Wandering Wizard, “In the beginning there was nothing”, or was there? Again, speculation, but there is cause for concern, up until this point, we've never encountered anything that was not from this world. This however, could change everything.

I will start to make preparations to research a means to combat this new threat immediately.

May Aeriel protect us from what awaits in the coming Darkness.

Signed

Blundermore P. WindRaker

The Report of the Skravria incident”

*A copy of this report would’ve been given to Emperor Godfrey of Oren during Asulon in regards to the threat of the voidal tares found both in his own land and the land of the Orcs to which Blundermore had given council on such matters, these documents are either still with him or wherever such documents would’ve been kept, most likely in a place where only the ruling faction could be capable of going to.*

Is there a difference between Daemons and Demons? I thought Daemons were neutral/Creator-loyal parties like Aenguls, are these 'Demons' different from the ones described in the ancient lore?

((Indeed there is, Daemons are not Demons, up until this point we didn't really have "Demons", a lot of things were called Demons by us but nothing really truly resembled a Demon. The creature from Skravria however, that, could be considered LOTC's Demons))

Achan-chatla laid in wait within its den, sleeping peacefully in its bundle of blankets and pillows unaware at this time that it was a demon all along.

((I like this quite a lot. I was also inspired by the whole Skravia debacle when I was writing this. http://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/110575-a-brief-dissertation-on-metaphysical-knowledge/#entry1043269

Tried explaining how everyone in Skravia had to void several years of memory after the Subudai attack was meta-gamed. It is cause these foul mages read from the Sea of Scrolls. The bastards.

We will discern the functions of the universe one essay at a time.))

((I was wondering if anyone else had actually documented or even remembered the event.))

((It is a shame, For everyone involved it would be a major historical supernatural event that would be up for speculation. None of my characters from Asulon are alive though unfortunately, and there is not enough literature about it for more generations to learn of it.))

((I'm interested in seeing how Oren would react to this really, though I can't say where this report would be now, I can say for certain that this report was given ontop of a verbal council to do with the voidal tares in Asulon and would've been in the possession of Godfrey Horen the First, however I do not know what would've happened after that, for all I know Godfrey could've taken a lot of things to his grave, my hope however is that it got put away in a vault much like many other things, perhaps it was burnt by the more zealous who upon discovering it became afraid of what they read, or maybe it is hidden away in the deepest parts of the Oren Archives or within the Church. What Oren's higher ups do with said RP is really up to them. I've merely just revived an older piece of RP from the past. Perhaps it is in the hands of the current king of Oren. ))
