Shove off, when people give opinions, people who put them down and use sarcastic remarks are the reason this server has some issues. This is very dissatisfying since you used to be a GM, and ET, you should know better than this.

Hiebe did exactly the same thing to Matt, and you're now doing so as well, mon. Better to just drop it instead of dragging it on.

Jesus christ get off that high horse of yours mate, I can barely hear you from all the way up there. It was a joke, nothing more. The fact that I was once a GM and once an ET does not give you (or anyone else, stop pulling that **** on me) any right to judge my behavior, it means nothing, and so does that righteous opinion of yours on the matter.

I was a GM, not because of my exemplary kind attitude towards idiocy. I was a GM because I got jobs done when they needed doing. I was an ET, not because I love making people happy through my work, but because I know how to roleplay and create events effectively.

I've always been pro-rp default. Always will be. The days of RP-default were never half as bad as the server is now.

I don't particularly mind PvP, I certainly won't try to say 'no' to it. But I don't believe that the actual act of pvp is roleplay - From when a fight starts, to when it ends, is purely a method to decide who wins. It's no more 'rp' than each side rolling 20 and the higher person wins. This in itself is not an issue - the way its used is. Players who start fights over anything, use three emotes before pvp, kill the player, and pretend it's 'bandit rp' or 'raider rp' or any sort of actual 'rp' are the problem.

Now, to clarify, this isn't the fault of PvP-default. This is the fault of the players, using what pvp-default allows. In a perfect world, pvp would not be the end to rp, it'd just be something to decide the victor of a fight in the middle of it. People would use our KO plugin to revive a player, and continue rp with the fight's outcome in mind.

On to other issues? LoTC has (in my opinion) been in an accelerating descent since roughly mid-anthos. The community is toxic, the staff seemingly don't care (If they did, they'd have done something by now), and wars are fought more on the forums in barely-ic posts that do nothing but attempt to harass the other side's players and 'victory posts' every time somebody so much as stubs their toe.

There's only one reason I believe PVP =/= roleplay, and that's because it's mechanics. The outcome, yes, can be RP, but the act of PVP is not roleplay, by definition. That's just my opinion on it, though.

I don't believe PVP is roleplay. It's just a tool to solve bickering and dealing with notorious powergamers.

PVP doesn't really provide a lot of creativity and immersion that RP fights does. But it's a necessary evil that is being abused and not used in the way it should.

I would love pvp if it weren't so vanilla, perhaps when the nexus skills plugin comes, the combat will bring some kind of variety to the table, I just feel like everyone has to resort to iron armor and an iron sword, and there's little variety, a mage cannot fight pvp, an archer stands no chance exc. I think LotC has to make it so that pvp is balanced between the different play styles players want to play as, by either reintroducing the slow system to heavily armored targets, (one of my personal favorites ->) the quiver system to help nerf juggernaut archers (so it's easy to head shot them!), or other pvp enhancements that make it feel much more... something.

tbh, I am just unwilling to deal with any issue with this current map. I am leaving on a 2 month trip in a week and I am most likely am not going to see 4.0 until 2 months from now lol. Everything on this map seems to meaningless and boring to continue. I would suggest going 2 weeks in to 4.0 and see how it goes and then start this thread again.

I know I have many friends that feel the same way about this, and I can guarantee all we be much more lively than it currently is, once 4.0 arrives.

You do realize you have to provide the creativity correct? The act of fictional plotting and developing comes from your head, not a video game's mechanics.

I think he's referring to simply allowing rp to have some effect on pvp. Armor slowness certainly wouldn't make pvp into a creative and developmental mechanic, but it would help to better portray some scenarios.

Armour slowness only in water, otherwise its just an annoyance

I know some PvP servers use a 'combat flag' system against combat loggers, perhaps a system like that could work? Only trigger the slow effect of Iron armor if you're flagged for combat.

Or maybe make it based on having a status. It's really annoying when people in iron armor chase an armorless person through the city, across a lake, and over a forest.

I would like this system implemented.

I would also like that the RP around PvP changes, where both sides PvP, and then continue with RP instead of just ending the stuff there.

Also, I believe that the server would benefit as much as possible by staying as absolutely close to vanilla MC as possible.

Depends on the motives of the attacker. Is it to kill someone quickly so as to avoid the possibility of "being detected", then let them kill quick and let them try and bounce. Trust me, there are those who will PvP, then revive as a means to either capture, loot, smack someone upside the head.

It is unlikely that the best possible configuration for a medieval fantasy RP platform was found purely by chance by devs who never even intended or accounted for such usage.

Please note the amount of arguments arising over what is considered 'fair' usage of the minecraft mechanics.

I'd be forced to agree with the post you quoted. I'd much rather we be as close to vanilla as possible, rather than adding all of these flairs and changes. Some plugins (Chat, Regions, Character Cards) are naturally needed, but past that the only plugin I really want would be something to balance combat.

I'll plainly admit that I am absolutely dreading some of the plugins coming in 4.0, such as crafting and land claim.

Of course, sometimes killing should be the end result. My complaint is that so few players go the route of 'beatings' or 'capture'. Small disputes end with players armoring up and killing each other, or bandits killing for twenty minas (I'd imagine they'd have more acceptance on the server if more of them tried to 'loot' the unconscious loser, rather than just send them to the CT after 3 emotes).

There are times when capture or sparing isn't feasible. I simply believe that things would improve if more players took that route when it was.
