JVQ 1719 Share Posted July 5, 2014 My growing concerns with the current Forum Moderators. I feel like their current handling of situations have been rash and unjust. For a start, not a week ago my thread was removed about my nation of Galahar which was heavily based of the United Kingdom, however despite best intentions for Roleplay I was met with a Forum Warning point and my work tossed aside like old shoes. For a start the FM dealing with the said situation "Bird Whisperer", showed no desire to help address my predicament but merely to enforce the rules. Although they were clarified in the Forum Rules, Bird whisperer did not pursue others with a similar circumstance. Let me elaborate. My post was removed for being too heavily associated with the United Kingdom, although it bore a different name and vibe. However on postulation of the Teutonic Order, primarily and solely based off an order of the same name, and exact organisation the replyhttp://gyazo.com/d20fee1c2edb887869e52219142223f2 http://gyazo.com/a595a3e45c22a4947729f7bc9fe96742 http://gyazo.com/2e242ecb1cf521c8a1699afd8acd20dc http://gyazo.com/ea5c08ae2a5f0e32ce841c073b346abd http://gyazo.com/888a6b2e23adf351bf01f1e0fd981243 It was a very generalised reply, this happened on numerous occasions in which I was given a rhetorical question that I didn't know the answer to. When I conveyed such I was met with "Stop trying to cause drama". She even quotes the rules http://gyazo.com/1792f62cab92d3a8df39a6e7c5d394e5 and yet she does not adhere in other cases, such as Adunia, which is heavily based off that of Scottish Culture and the Teutons which is primarily copied of wikipedia. In the end my concerns were still left untouched and she seemed to brush aside any arising points I made, this being said when I asked for a shed of empathy and for my point to be removed she smugly asked me to explain why what I did was wrong, I didn't think she was in such a place to make requests like I was some playschool kid who broke someone's lego tower. It seemed condescending, rude and derogatory, considering my opinion seemed to believe the points she made were contradictory. http://gyazo.com/52b5459185bdde3e607b3274473cd2fb She continued by threatening me with two more warns if I did the same again, at which point I was still confused as to why my post differed from that of Adunia, Druids and TO. The fact is the situation was handled poorly and my distress had little avail in expressing my concerns. I refused to do such and I explained why: http://gyazo.com/69a5ce33f48a9baa4d3a742ca822c79f Birwhisperer refused to even converse with me I told them I was taking the situation to an Admin, at this point Gemmylou was added to the conversation http://gyazo.com/eb03127ec95825160b35a72c2a211140. I thought this was hypocritical considering I was moving towards a solution and that it was evident the information fed to Gemmy may have been bias in Birdwhisperer's favour. For that I can't be sure. After seeing this I assumed Gemmy would have a protective stance over her team, which is fair enough. So for the sake of resolution I took this to Rittsy, seeing as seeing as he had helped me in the past with situations such as these and reinforced my faith in the administrative team. However upon logging on to my forum account I received another warning. This was due to the reply I made to an RP post, although it had complete relevance to the roleplay at hand. Let me put it in context, my character had just been removed by the Lord's Council which he believed to be unjust, as did a lot of Dwarfs, when three elder Dwarfs returned my first reaction was "****, if they had come back three days before they could of saved me. As was my characters reaction. And I got a point, was it because I hadn't declared who said it? I feel like Birdwhisperer has some sort of ooc vendetta because prior situation. http://gyazo.com/08ed3f947eb6358aa0d8464396a5bcc1 http://gyazo.com/b65cb208d6c05c6c7e30616ed4303164 Something very similar was awarded when Cappy gave me a forum point for posting OOC on this thread: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/110727-a-memory-of-icy-death/ Understandably so considering it's an Indian talking about minecraft in front one of the wonders of the world. I said "Why do you pay for this ****" One more thing, I was awarded two warning points for posting on a ban appeal, considering I had the evidence uploaded to youtube on which my channel got deleted, and when I clarified all evidence was gone I was awarded two warning points because I acknowledged it was against the rules, when I was attempting to solve the problem at hand progress/complete any confusion caused. Falkor didn't even reply when I asked about it. I had uploaded the video of the pugsy and I literally said it wasn't on my channel any more. I got a warn for posting a meme on a thread. Come on.I feel like people need to calm down, because honestly I have done things on the forums that warrant points, but they are being dished out like vegetables at fat camp, this could get me banned ultimately. I feel like maybe the rules need clarification, the Fm's need a re-shuffle or to learn some communication skills and everyone needs to calm down a little. I initially sent this to Rittsy but I got no reply, so for all those wondering why I posted a summary of my warning points it's because this **** gets me ever closer t being banned, why do I get warns for trying to solve a ban report, warns for posting ooc on a youtube video, warns for being unaware of rules and the mad for the rules only being enforced on me. tl;dr Stop dishing out warning points with little reason and the Forum Moderators maybe calm a bit.
Ford 1996 Share Posted July 5, 2014 Many forum mods, just like many gms, are biased and unjust. And many Admins are inactive. basically most of the staff should be purged in my opinion. I feel your pain +1
calculusdesola 1658 Share Posted July 5, 2014 Though complaining on the forums often gets the normal, powerless playerbase nowhere at all but a dead end with a semi truck speeding from behind, and those you mention will inevitably want to castrate you after you criticize them (sometimes rightfully so, others and most often not), I do have to agree with both the OP and Ford that, even though much of the staff have plenty of other worries surrounding 4.0 or league of legends, this particular performance in this thread isn't up to par. C'mon. However I will add that you shouldn't be posting memes, those are cringeworthy and I probably would have warned you too.
Naj 545 Share Posted July 5, 2014 Something definitely needs to be addressed in this situation. It seems that there was an inappropriate manner executed in handling this. +
mmat 7460 Share Posted July 5, 2014 Every little thing that can be construed as offensive in some way, whether it be rude or not, is punished by these FMs. You can't say almost anything negative without being given a warning or being muted, which I was for responding to a ban report. 50% if not more of the current FMs are extremely trigger happy and have no sense of the grey area which exists between white and black. Stag 3230 Share Posted July 5, 2014 Your gyazo's don't work and if you are going to openly share a conversation with staff to try and shame them, because that is essentially what you are doing, why don't you at least show the whole conversations? TeaLulu 1783 Share Posted July 5, 2014 Yes, people should calm down, starting with yourself and this bashy post. I've got a rage on for some staff members but I don't compile a public shame list and post it.

The Media Wizard 2958 Share Posted July 5, 2014 Well, I've never personally received a warning on the Forums, but I've had people remove posts of mine for no reasons, as far as I could tell. I agree. +
Zebanamana 410 Share Posted July 5, 2014 As much as I love the Teutonic Order, it has to be said that a great deal of their organizational structure is taken from the historic Teutonic Order. In Aegis, their cities were both Nuremberg and Konnigsberg (now Kaliningrad and the former headquarters of the Order.) In Asulon, their capital was Dresden (another German city). I forget their capital in Anthos, but I believe that was an original name. The head of the Teutonic Order is the Hochmeister (a German word, and the same title as the head of the actual Teutonic Order). Other ranks taken from the actual Teutonic order: 1. Ordenmarshall 2. Großspittler 3. Landmeister Among others undoubtedly, I have not looked at the ranks of the Teutonic Order in quite some time. They also worshiped a Goddess Celestia for sometime, I wonder where that comes from? Oh wait, Pope Celestine III affirmed the status of the Teutonic Order http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celestine_III . In addition, this is the logo of the actual Teutonic Order. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/45/Insignia_Germany_Order_Teutonic.svg/260px-Insignia_Germany_Order_Teutonic.svg.png Not knocking them, but saying that a person cannot have a Parliamentary Democracy because it is not original is simply silly. Let me go over some of the famous examples of Lord of the Craft being unoriginal. 1. The name Lord of the Craft 2. There was a very famous castle in Aegis called Winterfell ruled by you guessed it, the Starks. 3. There have been families with the name Baelish, Targaryen, Tully, and Hightower on the server. 4. There was a family of Elendil. In the Lord of the Rings, Elendil was the ancestor of Aragorn. 5. There was a famous Sword Durandale named after the famous Knight Roland's sword. 6. The creation lore that Availer (the creator of the server) made speaks of the Seven Skies which is in fact a Muslim term (he is Muslim) 7. Iblees is Devil in Arabic 8. Aegis is the Greek word for Shield 9. Al'Khazar was named after a nomadic Turkic group 10. The Holy Oren Empire was the Holy Roman Empire, the Second Empire even had the Electoral System of the HRE 11. Snow Elves = Elder Scrolls? 12. The Order of the White Rose is a real Order. 13. House Flay was a revision of House Bolton from A Song of Ice and Fire, their coat of arms were exactly the same. And beyond that we have hundreds more references or complete rip offs of existing media or organizations that it is not even fair to single out one idea as being unoriginal. You are going to have to do a near wipe of the forums to remove the rip offs.
LaCabra (Soda) 1519 Share Posted July 5, 2014 I think a lot of the problems actually just come from the forums themselves. It's truly the OOC side of LotC in its full glory (not so glorious). A lot of problems, like your warns, biased behavior, etc., would be much less common if the majority of players were on the server rather than the forum. We're meant to play the game after all, aren't we?
mmat 7460 Share Posted July 5, 2014 Statuses need to be removed. They're LoTC's own little slice of Facebook, with its useless status updates and whiny gits moaning about their lives. I don't come on these forums for Lord of the Craftbook.
Praetor 1550 Share Posted July 5, 2014 Perhaps some of your situations were unreasonable. Gyazo's still won't work for me so I can't judge it accurately. However, I think that keeping the Fm's severe is a good choice. Of course, there is a fine line between severe and trigger happy but once again, I can't accurately define it since every FM probably has a different view of what's right and wrong. I was given a double warning for posting a video called "I'm Osama - Rukka Rukka Ali" (A parody of thrift shop, hellafunny if you're into that kind of semidumb ****.) I don't agree with the Fm's decision on that warn, but I can understand why they did it. (Got 1 warn removed after a week.) Anyway, I think that they should stay severe but think carefully before dosing out warns. Perhaps start by 'warning' the guy he'll be punished if he continues, unless it's a recurring case, or something well within the warnzone.
