Neutral Powerful Beasts/beings

Awhile back I asked around the ET chat about maybe having neutral dragons/drakes/drakaars/whatevertheycalldragons and the response I got was that, according to lore, they were all super-evil eat first ask questions later monsters... alright.

As for other Goliaths, it's certainly something I'm interested in doing come 4.0.

I wish they were neutral, and if they are evil they would have their own agenda. The dwarf antagonist was somewhat like this but it had much lore behind it, and the events played over time with a climatic ending. I'm hoping for something that doesn't require much lore if anything no lore at all, they are just in our world and they exist. If we still need lore for these things I would love to keep it as mysterious and leave the players to make their own conclusions to why these beings are in our world.

Have you ever considered making an ET application? ;)

I did make an application for event team builder so that I and others can make some of these cool areas when we had the time :P.  I already told some people within 4.0 dev about this idea , but I felt that I should bring the idea out to the community.

I was hoping that this would be a thread to suggest a neutral main antagonist. The whole "Antagonist has to be a group of super evil magic wielding warriors run by a evil demon overlord" thing gets kind of old. Why not have a massive band of mercenaries that had previously populated 4.0 before we got there and wanted us gone, or a pirate crew that wants to take the land for themselves? Or hell, why not totally switch it up and have a group of morally good priests, templars, and paladins that inhabited the place before we got there, and thought that we were sent there by demons or something and wanted to kill us off?

Idk, I'm just really hoping for something original come 4.0.

Anyhoo, to actually stay on topic, yeah your idea is cool too. :P

If this means breaking the meta with some of these absurdly cliché evil magic beings (Undead/Bloodmages/Setherin) meant to ruin our existence I'm all for it. Try out some new stuff that isn't just a two hour event resulting in some title or special item.

The issue with a band of mercenaries is that to provide a tangible threat to the entire rest of the server, an antagonist either needs tools which make them outclass or outpresence the opposing factions, or enough sheer manpower to be able to take on the rest of the playerbase. Gathering that many players for an antagonist is actually pretty difficult, and it's far easier to make them cliche black mages because it means that the antag leadership can be selective about who they let in. Furthermore, it allows a very large leeway over giving them special and unique powers that make the antagonist unique to fight against. In general, cliche black mage is just much less of a chore to organize.

This isn't a thread on antags guys, it's about neutral beasts that just roam the land. I like it +1

I dont remember ever commenting on that Ouity. And Omi you yourself stated you dont have time to join us anyways.

But as someone mentioned before, a neutral party can be viewed as either antagonist, or protagonist, depending on who they are rping with. Was the Harbingers truly evil? Setherian's goal wasn't to destroy everyone and kill everything, but to make it in a flashy-obvious way, we have dumbed down the design heavily. And where exactly was it stated the Golden Lances were good guys? Killing Setherian was their main goal, not helping everyone along the way. The only way to properly flesh out a true neutral group is to give it time and lots of rp behind it, as while as being very selective in who we rp with to ensure the impact is felt.

Interesting idea, perhaps come 4.0 I'll have more time on my hands to consider this a possibility.

On the original title of my post what I meant was that these things are neutral in RP and  can be swayed to become antagonizing to those that confront or engage them, or if this group or single character is around their path/zone in the map. Also as a protagonist if by some extremely rare luck you're able to get them on your side then I suppose you can use them, but most of the time if you engage these beings or beasts they would leave you alone unless you get in their face.

Off Topic

Either way I understand what you guys are saying that an antagonist can be protagonist for a certain group, and a protagonist can be an antagonist for a certain group. Ex : Undead and those that worshipped Iblees, and the Ascended with most of the races, except Dwarves. (#AlrasAegis)

Something like the Colossi from Shadow of the Colossus? I can dig it, but MC is just kinda lacking in ways to represent things. If you could come up with an idea for it, I don't see why you couldn't RP it.

Even though it wasn't. He did a good job doing exactly that.

Is the giant in MC still around? If so I heard that thing is kinda buggy. Also is the server still using MPM?

You can just have someone with mobdisguise be it, and it works fine.

Then the ET can have a go at it.

What I hope for is that if you are in one these beings zones a random spontaneous event (no lore needed) can occur or not if you're lucky, and whether you want to engage or retreat with these beings is entirely up to you. It doesn't even have to be one being neither, it can be multiple ones like I said. For example for the event to happen you would hear a local broadcast say something like this "The aroma fire and meat" or  "You hear footsteps and grunts coming in your direction." You stumbled upon a group of 9 ft cyclops (with mpm) camp/path and they haven't spotted you yet, they wield giant clubs (sword with knockback II due to their strength.) At this point you can either hide or or engage them (if not alone.) and if you do engage or if they spot you good luck lol, If not well next time you would be terrified or more cautious about traveling in this area of the map.
