I didn't have internet for a few days so I took it upon myself to write guides on as many subjects as I could that didn't have up to date guides. Here is the start.

There are 4 parts so far to this guide, to quickly go to different parts Cntrl + f then the corresponding number.

[1]Soulstones

[2]Nexus Plots

[3]Buddylist

[4]Personas

[5] Chat

[6] Random, small plugins

[a]Searching

Staff lists

[c]Status'

Working on:skills, nexus crafting

Please suggest plugins you need help with!

Important things to note:

-All in-game commands are italicized within the guide. If you see it italicized you can type it in-game.

-All commands that have [brackets] when they are typed in-game should be typed WITHOUT the brackets.

 [1]Soulstones
Soulstones are a very essential part of traveling around the LotC. Here is a brief guide detailing how to use not only the basic features but also the features that don't get quite as much attention.
First off to get a soulstone in your inventory you do the command /ss. The amount of soulstone slots you have is based off of persona attunement. For example I have played around 20 hours and have two slots. You start off with one slot that I don't believe you can change the destination to: home

The home slot takes you to the Cloud Temple. To change the location you would like to soulstone to simply hold the soulstone in your hand, sneak, and left click. This will cycle through all the locations you currently have bound.

The command /ss will bring up a list of other commands. In order to use any of the sub commands you must first type in /ss [command]. So to bind would be /ss bind 1

Different types of pillars:
There are currently two different types of soulstone pillars in the game, a redstone one and an emerald one.

Emerald Pillar: Much more permanent and has unlimited amount of people who can bind to it. Most small groups can't get them and in order to get one you need to be a town, nation, large guild, or something of the sort

Redstone Pillar: a donation perk that allows anyone who has unlocked it to look at a stack of three redstone blocks on top of each other and do the command /ss imbue [name]. Be warned that you can only create one at a time. You can however take it down and move it as many times as you want. Something to be warned about is that these pillars can only have a certain amount of people bound to it. The amount is dependent on your VIP level so you may want to put it into a locked room and only let specific people use it.

List of all soulstone commands with their usage:
/ss bind [slot #]: This allows you to bind your soulstone to new locations. You can only bind a soulstone to one of the following pillars: a redstone pillar or a emerald pillar. When doing this command be sure not to put in a slot number you already have a location bound to! It will override it.

/ss release [slot #]: After typing this command whatever location was saved into the slot number will be removed. Make sure you want to do this as you can't undo it!

/ss block: Doing this command will make it so people in an area around you are unable to use their soulstones. This is best used if you have captured someone in a jail and don't want them to escape.

/ss imbue [pillar name]: This is a command only available for VIPs. What this does is if you are staring at 3 redstone blocks on top of eachother it will turn it into a mini pillar. The pillar name will be what it will be called and what people will see when they cycle through locations so name it something that is easy to remember where it ends up!

/ss study: In order to use this command you must be looking at an activated soulstone pillar, either emerald or redstone. This will allow you to see who has bound their soulstone to the pillar you are looking at. This is useful for redstone pillars especially.

/ss banish [name]: The owner of a redstone pillar can do this in order to remove someone who has bound their soulstone to a pillar. Useful if someone who you don't want on your pillar removed to make room for someone else.

/ss revoke: This is the opposite of the imbue command. This turns a redstone pillar back into a useless 3 block stack of redstone. Doing this will wipe anyone who was bound to the pillar. You can imbue/revoke a pillar as many times as you want but can only have one redstone pillar per account at a time.

Unchecked: is there a gold block pillar that is used to block soulstones in an area around them?

[2] Nexus Plots

Guide to Town Pillars and Land Claiming

Since the release of Nexus regions I haven't seen a guide for them so I decided to write one.
Nexus Regions was created by Arche(Sporadic) to try and streamline the land claiming system, reduce need for GMs, and allow for player controlled regions. The only item in the entire thing is a beacon which is renamed Town Pillar. This is created at the Tinker's Post and has a cost of 3 diamonds, 2 blocks of coal, 20 stone, and 5 iron blocks. It has a crafting time of 1 hour
Something to note is that until a plot is claimed and has the required amount of active users it remains freebuild.

Basic Information
While wandering around you will see 3 block tall pillars that have 1 block of coal in between 2 blocks of quartz. These are town pillars. Go up to that pillar and right-click on it. It should open up a GUI that has two options in it.

Option 1: A book that is renamed "Request Citizenship". This is the option that shows you are committed to a plot of land. If you request it and it is granted you are saying that you would like to live there. You count for activity counts in that place. You can only be a citizen of one place at a time and if you are a citizen you CANNOT try and claim your own plot.

Option 2: A piece of paper renamed "Request Passport". A passport is a minimalistic comitment to a plot. You can have passports to as many different places as you want. All they do is allow you to build. Know though that the town owner can remove your passport at any time.

If your citizenship is accepted then the next time you right-click on that pillar you should get a different GUI with more options. Among the shown info is the name of the town, the region greeting, the amount of inhabitants, and an option to leave the plot.

Nexus Owner GUI
KHIV3F5.png

  1. A list of inhabitants
  2. A list of people who hold active passports
Town info, such as owner and amount of residents Manage custom ranks you can give citzens of your plot Pending requests for people who want a passport or are requesting citizenship The custom name set for your town The custom greeting message given to people who walk into your plot Switch the owner of the plot, you can choose from any current member Relinquish plot, allows you to break your pillar which will give it back to you but wipe the region info

How to Claim a Plot
While wandering around the map you will come across messages that say one of the following:

"The area is freebuild but has claimable regions": This means that anyone can build anywhere in the area but certain plots are in it that once claimed become regioned.

"The area is protected but has claimable regions": This means that you will not be able to break blocks anywhere in the region (except in the plots themselves, see above) but there are plots that anyone can claim.

Dark Grey Text: This is a claimed region. They have their own custom message which can be controlled in the town pillar.

If you are looking for a plot look for one of the first two messages. Once you get that message explore in the relative area until you find an already claimed plot or an empty plot. You will know the plot is empty because this message will show "You have entered a region claimable for x amount of people". The amount of people changes per region. Of course the bigger the region the more people it will take to claim it and vice versa.

Once you have a plot and a town pillar all you need to do is plop it down somewhere in the plot. Congratulations! You are now the proud owner of a nexus plot! Next on the list is to keep the plot. By default when you claim a plot you have 3 days to get the required amount of people. There are two steps to getting enough people"

Step 1: Getting x amount of people to apply for CITIZENSHIP to your region. Please note that you must have citizenship for it to count. Passports only allow for building in the plot but don't count as one of the people you need to get.

Step 2: After getting enough people registered as citizens you need to make sure they pass the activity check. All they need to do is be online and doing stuff for a certain amount of hours(unsure on exact amount and if you must be inside the plot for it to count).

If you have managed steps 1 and 2 congratulations your plot is now secure for a while! To prevent ghost towns and empty places springing up all over the map the plugin will check your region every once in a while to make sure you still have enough active people. If you don't it will give you a message and an amount of time to get it back up. If you fail in that also then it will revert back into a claimable, public plot.
If you just weren't quite able to get enough people don't worry! You can try again at another plot. To stop people from keeping trying at the place the plugin has a restriction where if you fail to claim a plot you can't try again in the same place for a period of time.

[3]Buddylist

The buddylist is a plugin that seems to be well hidden by the tech team. You start out using this plugin by doing the command /bl help. This will bring up a list of possible commands. As with the soulstone plugin (see above) all commands must start with /bl and have the sub commands come after.

/bl help:  Shows all the commands below with a small amount of aid.

/bl: This command is very simple, it lists your first page of buddies.

/bl [page #]: Like the command above this plugin simply lists your online buddies but changes the page number

/bl add [MC name]: This command allows you to add the player to your buddy list. From now on they will show up when you do /bl.

/bl del [MC name]: Removes the player you have specified from your buddy list.

/bl nick [old] [new]: Probably the only complicated command in this plugin. What it does is allow for players to rename their buddies. In the command old is the old name you had for them. In most cases this will be their MC names since you haven't nick named them before. New is what you will call them from now on. Here is an example:

[buddylist]

Chumpchump -Online

After doing the command /bl nick Chumpchump Chump! it will look like this

[buddylist]

Chump! - Online

[4]Personas

The persona command is one of the core plugins that makes LotC into the roleplay server that it is. To get started you will notice a piece of paper named "Nexus" in your inventory. To open the persona menu you can right-click that or type /me.

If nothing is glitching out then you should see a GUI open that has a chest to the rightish edge of the menu. That first chest you see is your first persona you have made. If it is your only persona then depending on your VIP level you will see skulls to the left of it. You can click on these to create new personas. You can left click on any of the chests to select the persona that goes along with it. If you Shift + Right-click you will permakill the selected persona. This frees up the slot but permanently gets rid of it. This deletes all the skills ect.

If you do the command /persona or /persona help it will give you a bunch of commands you can type to further customize your persona.

Like almost all the other plugins all these commands must have the /persona prefix then the suggested command.

Ways to view someone's persona (character card):

  1. If you are close to them you can Shift + right-click and it will show the persona
  2. If you are not close to them and can't see them in chat you can type /persona view [Player's MC name]. This will show you their persona also.
The last option is if you see them type in chat. You can hover over their RP name and it will show you their MC name. If you click on their name it will show you their persona.

/persona view [MC Name]: This command allows you view the persona of people no matter how far away they are from you.

/persona name [new name]: This allows you to rename the persona you are currently playing as.

/persona prefix [prefix]: This gives a small addition in front of the name of your character. For example if my name was John Doe and I typed /persona prefix Captain from now on when I typed in chat messages my name would show up as [Captain]John Doe.

/persona age [new age]: This sets the age of your current persona to whatever number you have specified

/persona autoage: This command turns on auto-aging for the persona you are currently playing on. The LotC date system will now take care of aging your character.

/persona addbio [text]: You can put in as much text as you want for your bio. You just have to add it one line at a time. Make your character as detailed as possible!

/persona clearbio: This command is NOT undo able so make sure you want to do it. It clears your bio completely for the persona you are on.

[5]Chat

There are many different chat channels on LotC. In order to leave any chat channel you simply type /leave [channel name] or /join [channel name] to join it.

By default even when you join other channels you will still be talking in the rp channel. If you want to focus SOLEY on another channel type /[channel name]. This will make it so ANY and ALL messages you send go into that channel. To get out of it type /rp to default back into the roleplay chat channel.

List of chat channels:

  • Wandering Soul (WS): A chat that all people who are visiting the server are placed into by default. This is where many new players ask questions about joining
  • Out of character (OOC): A global chat channel for everyone who has already been accepted on the server. Anyone can join but be careful to keep information you learn in this channel out of your characters mind so it isn't metagaming!
Shout (s): This channel increases the regular chat range. If you would only like to type one message into this you can just do /s [text] Whisper (w): A chat channel that has a much reduced range. Players must be in (I believe) a 5 block radius of you to hear these messages. Use for secrets! Help (h): A channel that is used to ask any questions you like about LotC. This doesn't have to be just for new players, if you are a returning player feel free to use it! RP(rp): Your regular chat channel that you should usually be typing in.

One chat channel you can't leave/join when you want. This is is Local Out of Character or looc. In order to talk in it you simply put double parentheses around whatever you are saying. So if I type Hello just plain it will output into chat like so:

John Doe: Hello

If I wanted to say it in looc I would type the following ((Hello.

This would then come out in chat like this, something to note is that due to it being out of character your minecraft name is shown instead of your RP name:

[LOOC]Leland22: Hello.

RP Basics:

If you are starting out there are a few things you should know to give you the best start you can with the plugins.

Emotes: Before you type a message if you add a * before it will show up in yellow text and as an emote. This is an action your character is attempting. While making an emote you can put in a quote (" ") and anything inbetween the two becomes speech from your character.

Example(my name will be John Doe in this example):

I type: *waves and says "Hello".

That will then show up in chat like this:

John Doe waves and says "Hello"

Action Emotes: If you are making an emote and you don't want it to be from your character you can start your message with a !. While doing this there is no prefix of a name attached so you must write who or what is doing the action.

Example: I type [!]A breeze rolls through Malinor

It would then show up in chat like this:

[!]A breeze rolls through Malinor

Something to note about this is that you can still find out who typed the action emote by hovering over the exclamation point in the message. It will show who typed it.

Money

Minas are the backbone of the Lord of the Craft economy. There is really only one command that is enabled on the server currently. Something to note is that money on LotC is not account based but PERSONA based. So if someone gives you money on one persona you will NOT be able to use it on a different persona.

When you die half of the money you have is lost. To avoid this use banker NPCs located around the map. One location where there is one is in the Oren capital city.

/money pay [mcname] [amount]: This command only works if you are in a close proximity to the player you are trying to send money too. Even though it asks for the MC name of the player it only goes to the persona. The amount is the amount of minas you are sending him. At a max you can only send as many as you have.

/money: Shows how much money you currently have on you

[6]Small Random Commands

[a]Searching
/search [mcname]: This command brings up a GUI of the player's inventory whom you are searching. They are given a change to accept or deny the search. There is a good chance that the item they are holding in their hand will NOT show up in the GUI. In the upper left hand corner it also shows how many minas the player currently has on them.

Suggested usage: Banditry, patrolling, guards checking people for weapons, and black market goods

Staff Lists

The following are all commands that you can do to see which members of staff teams are online.
  • /modlist: Shows all members of the moderating team currently online. Alternatively press tab
  • /fmlist: Shows a list of all members of the forum moderating team online
/etlist: Shows a list of all members of the event team online /atlist: Shows a list of all members of the application team online /ltlist: Shows a list of all members of the lore team online

[c]The Status Plugin

The status plugin was originally designed by Arche(Sporadic) as a way to let people around you know your status in an RP scenario. That is where the name of the status' come from. As time went on however people began using it as emblems during wars, battles, and fights to distinguish between sides.

/status help: Shows all available status' along with how to turn status' off.

/status off: Clears whatever status you currently have on you. Makes you appear normal.

/status [status]: Where the status is one of the following:

  • Affectionate
  • Immobilized
Unconscious Fighting Mounted Performing Casting Blinded

One Command Plugins

/showhealth: This command displays the amount of health people have in half-hearts. If someone has 20 health it is NOT 20 hearts but 10 hearts.

/showmcnames: If you are on a later version of Minecraft you may want to use this. Until 1.8 standardizes everyone you can be on later versions than 7.9. If you are people's skins will most likely glitch and you will see Steve skins for everyone. This command makes it so that the name above everyone's head is not their RP name but their Minecraft account name.

/damage [number]: If you want to show character damage you can type this command. The number that you type in will be how much damage you are dealt in half hearts. Use for suicide if you have a glitch or something.

/roll [number]: Typing this command will output a random number between 1 and whatever number you typed.

/seen [MC Name]: Use this command to check on your friends. Whoever's name you type it will show you how long ago they were last online. If they are online at the time it will say how long they have been online. If a player is banned it will show that also.
