I think we've had some helpful replies in this thread. Let me offer a few tips I've gathered from watching many people do the same thing over the past two years:

• If you don't have the self-control to keep yourself away you won't have the self-control not to ask a moderator to revoke your ban.
• If you actually just wanted to get away from the forums and not pull a publicity stunt, you would PM a moderator instead of making a thread and a fuss about it.
• Remember it's not a good deed unless you tell everyone about it!
