Personally I like what we have now.. Other than it might look boring to some.. I Really dont think we need to change it. Maybe think about changing the background Photo on the sides that could use a better photo maybe something to do with the current map we are on?

I've been a part of another community with a web layout that I absolutely adore. It may be useful and provide a little inspiration. If LOTC's web designer is interested in this then I highlty suggest he that he should pm me :)  

 

In regards to the prototype I will say that it is a different look which'll be appeasing for current members, but that seems to be its only purpose. I sense a rather placid vibe when gazing upon it and think that we could all really benefit from a complete revamp of the system.
