History:

The Masked Raven
House Briarwood is one of a forgotten name, taking its roots in the unsteady land that was Elysium, a time of turmoil and chaos for the current peoples of Anthos. Marcus Briarwood, a young man, found his way into the service of Harrion Elendil, who, at the time, was the reigning Duke of Westfall during an Adunian Civil War between Harrion and Torrhen. For his loyal service to the Duke, Marcus Briarwood was awarded the County of Raven Rock, which he held for two years before he suddenly vanished along with his wife and sister. To this day, no explanation was ever given, but the couple returned eventually, years later, without Cerise, Marcus’ sister. Any and all claims to nobility lost, Marcus joined the ranks of the White Rose, friends he had made during his previous years, and he spent the most of his life with his wife Cosette within the walls of Ard Kerrack, or on the battlefield. They had two children: twins, Harrison and Rachel, Harrison named for the lost Duke Harrion, who had been Marcus’ dear friend. Years went by, the family thrived in the Keep, before Cosette died suddenly, and Marcus disappeared once again, leaving the children who were now young teenagers to go out into the world alone.

The Blacksmith’s Spark
Harrison took his years of training with the shattered fragments of the White Rose, after their Exodus, and put them to good use with his still-developing blacksmithing skills and knowledge of the White Rose combat techniques. He eventually found his way into the service of the De Silvarois family, and spent years with them serving as a house guard and blacksmith, before he was suddenly granted a Barony within Relenkai’s County, Salvus. Harrison, at the urging of many former men of Kaedrin, his homeland, decided to embrace his cultural heritage, and began a new dawn for Kaedreni men and women everywhere, beginning with the construction of Caer Rhoswyn, his Barony.

A Flame Upon Raven’s Wings
For four years of his life, until the age of twenty-two, he led a ragtag group of faithful soldiers known as the Kaedreni Patriots. It was during this time he swore to the Duke Jon Othaman, and disbanded the Patriots in favor of becoming a General of 'The League', a working name for a coalition of levies within the Duchy of Valles. His loyalties became muddled when the controversial Franz-Josef Carrion ascended the throne of Oren, and war broke out between Church and State. Harrison did not definitively choose a side, and so he was rewarded with distrust at the hands of the Holy Order of Saint Lucien, who he had once called friends. With Franz betrayed and Oren given to the hands of a regency council, Harrison simply bided his time, until a miracle descended upon him: the Father of Kaedrin returned, Peter Chivay, who swiftly reformed the Third Empire of Man. Harrison reaffirmed his loyalties, and when Jon Othaman died, granting Harrison freedom from his oaths, he immediately bent the knee to Olivier de Savoie, the Imperial Viceroy, along with his newly-formalized Order of bannermen, The Sons of Owyn.

The Fire Dies
However, tragedy befell Harrison when his wife, Allison Briarwood, disappeared. They conceived two children together: Rhys Antony and Gwyneviere, but Harrison was left alone. In another tragic twist of fate, his aunt Cerise passed as well, leaving her children in his care. Maxen Briarwood was sent to live with the Imperial Family as a ward, while Constance began living with Harrison. During his time without a wife, Harrison sired two illegitimate daughters: Llywelyn and Abigail, both from the same woman, their mother Catherine. He finally settled with Anne Blackwell, and they were married, Anne giving birth to their son Gawain a year afterwards, and their daughter Rhosyn two years after that. Yet it would be when Gawain was still a young boy that Harrison was invited to a meeting with the houses Silverblade and Visconti. There, they offered him the chance to join their new military order, and when Harrison declined, their true intentions were revealed with a sword through his stomach. The young lord slain in another man’s home and hearth, his titles were left to his estranged son Rhys who had inherited Harrison’s violent tendencies but none of his civil ones.

The Burning Moon
Rhys Antony Ruben-Roy Briarwood would prove to be an incredibly hot-headed leader, taking his father’s military force and recruiting more actively. Constance, his cousin, was soon betrothed to the Imperial Prince Robert Chivay- for the Chivay family recognized Harrison Briarwood’s utter devotion to the preservation and survival of the Kaedreni culture, and valued the Briarwood family as the only other truly Kaedreni house. Rhys’ sister Gwyneviere was promised to Damien Basileus, once a close friend of Harrison Briarwood. Yet there would soon be conflict, and Rhys would break the betrothal with House Basileus in favor of one with Edmond of House de Savoie. In return, Damien challenged Rhys to a duel, which Rhys ultimately took up- he brought his Rhosynguard to Kaphro, and when Lord Basileus made aggressive advances upon Rhys before the duel began, the young lord- in the spitting image of his father- ordered the slaughter of the city, in an act that eventually became known as the Butchery of Kaphro. Eventually Damien Basileus would be convicted, stripped of all titles, and executed for numerous atrocities. Rhys would vanish on after fathering three children, Cadoc and Ceriwyn with his wife Chloe, and Viktor with a Raevir woman. His title was left to his only living relative, Gwyneviere de Savoie, married to Edmond de Savoie, and it was dissolved after some time.

A Flame Sparks Once More
The name of Briarwood put to rest, the rest of the world moved onwards: soon enough, young Gawain, the child of Harrison Briarwood and Anne Blackwell, would find himself as the personal assistant of the Grandmaster Richard de Bar, doing some preliminary blueprints and construction work for the keep that the Knights of Saint Amyas were to use. He would leave the Grandmaster’s service after some time, and continue squiring beneath Ser Maric Varodyr II before he was knighted ultimately and helped reform the Red Dragon after Maric was made Grand Knight. After years in his service, the world would shift when he stood beside Maric as Maric’s titles were stripped upon false accusations of treason. It would be Gawain who stood next to Maric in Kaer Angren, and handed him a crown- the crown of a new kingdom, Renatus, and with this a new sun would rise for House Briarwood as he took claim over the forests of Owynswood.

Cadoc moves to sit in the house seat in Owynswood. A rather stressed look upon his features at the news of his Uncle's disappearance, having no heirs and passing down to Rhys's children and about his brother Viktor giving up the house titles to him. Cadoc not being ready for such and more forced into this, he remains ready to prove his father proud.

A small wooden boat glides across the still river, departing from the docks of Owynswood. In it, two figures sit. One is an old man, oars in both hands, pushing and pulling rhythmically as the canoe silently cuts through the water. The other is a young man, clad in a dull crimson coat, face obscured by his shaggy auburn hair. The oarman does not say a word, as the two row in silence, only the light of the moon guiding their path. A mist begins to gather ahead of them.

"The fog is rolling in..." the elder man remarks. The other remains silent, as they paddle onward into the fog, vanishing into unknown lands.

Caldwel Briarwood yawns as he wakes from his small cot. The house he was working on was progressing slowly. Supplies dwindled and workers were abandoning their post due to local orc raids. "Hrm... I wand how my YOUNGER brother is doing... I'm around 27 so he is about 10 years younger...." Cadwel was never good at math as his father was a bafoon. "Well I'll just have to visit him..." Caldwell looks out, the unfinished homes for this small hamlet would have to wait. "Well, as the workers have been doing..." Caldwel sets off to join his family.

((Okay, so I duno but how does Caldwel's brother have a  kiddy? He was a lil' kid! If anything Caldwel would be the brother to have the kid >:C. But Too late XP, so ye.))

The moon shines upon the still, calm, glassy surface of the great river that runs through the continent. From a patch of silvery-gray fog emerges a small wooden boat, gently drifting across the water. A lantern gives off dim illumination, the orange glow reflecting off of the water. The serene silence of the midnight river is broken by the quiet splashing of oars and the creak of the swaying lantern. A man sits in the boat, pulling the oars back and forth, rowing. His face shrouded by the rugged leather hood he wears, a smirk plays across his features as he catches sight of the shoreline. Snow, pine trees, and a dock.

A green light glimmers from beneath his hood, as the lantern light catches a glimmer off of the crimson armor he wears.

"It's good to be home."
