The Naysayer's Lament

A letter makes its way by a silver owl to the gates of the high elven sanctuary. The Naysayer had sent his word. The text is enchanted to last but 12 elven hours.

The student scorns his master and as a consequence the Butterfly is preyed upon for no reason other than personal gain. Forget not, Delonna, it was I who brought you into the game that you so flagrantly play now, for it was I who orchestrated the rise of Haelun'or past its position in the gutter that it lingered in past the departure of the Maheral Dio.

Forget not, mali'aheral of Haelun'or, that this elf deems me a pariah not for my acts of malevolence but for my tact. He spits upon me for uniting the children of Malin without raising a single elven blade. He defiles my image despite it was I who aided the return of the eldritch ways to Haelun'or. He resents me when it was I who forged Crimson-Silver, which has preserved us so well through the years. He rejects me for upholding the maher'sae hiylun'ehya when Sullas and Elervathar decided it was more prudent to allow the mali'ame to stab us in our own home. For siding with Elervathar and Sullas, the mali'aheral and Haelun'or fell to shambles.

Instead of recognising this, the Frost-Beast-Lover decides to believe mistruths and lies spun by the bortu. For he accuses me of genocide and madness, but it was the mali'ame who gave into genocide when he, Sullas and Elervathar permitted them to rise up. No descendant has come to harm by Haelun'or under I except by violating the laws of Haelun'or upon the land of Haelun'or.

It is only Phaedrus who attempted genocide— Yet from my observance he does not deem this elf a pariah as he has done to me. Instead he offers him land for his people, a kindness never offered to the mali'aheral when he so decided to genocide us. The true filth is offered forgiveness.

Know, Children of Larihei, he does this not because he believes his words. He does it because it benefits him greatly to cast aside the Naysayer as he has so done. Because it shall keep the uruk and bortu off his back for one more day, even if he knows they are no obstacle to him.

In truth, the Maheral does only one thing. He steps upon the skull of an elf who has only aided his cause. Perhaps he does this to please his Ice-Beast wife who also scorns me? Perhaps he does it because his daughter liked me more than her own father?

kaean'leh evareh, mali'aheral. Do with these words as you will.

In the dim light of his room, Artimec pens in another sentence in his terms for peace, something he believed his high elven counterpart he was negotiating with would find agreeable.

'Kalenz Uradir the Mindlord's former hand, will not be allowed any position of government until the end of time.'

Salazar sighs, "But wasnt it under your leadership that the reputation mali'ahreal currently possess was nourished by you?"

"This High Elf has lost his mind. I think it best he be brought to justice for his war crimes against all elves so that the remaining may unite under one, strong council of three. One High Elf, one Dark Elf, and one Wood Elf!" Alexander says to his men as they speak about the elven drama.

"Like any beloved dog btten by a rabid raccoon and thus driven insane by plague, it's time to put this mali down."

Azorella takes note of the glowing text for a moment until she spots a repugnant lack of capitalization and an atrocious misspelling and promptly ceases reading any further.

Only Kalenz could misspell 'maehr'sae hiylun'ehya'...

She grumbles to herself for a moment before finding something productive to do.

Delonna simply sighs, shaking his head as he reads over Kalenz's drivel and speaks to himself, or anyone listening.

"That's right. I forgot that he managed to unite the elves, without ever even being present. As I recall, I offered the Mali'ker refuge, and the Trivumirate which he wasn't part of offered the Mali'ame refuge. Meanwhile Kalenz was in self-imposed exile after his failings to protect us in Lin'evaral. Then Kalenz returns, threatens a few splinters and snow 'elves', and is suddenly a visionary. All he really did was corrupt the purpose of that unity.

He may not have wielded the sword against us, but he spat in the face of those who did. Enough is enough. If offering my enemy a kindness he did not offer me is my mistake, then let the Mali'aheral judge me, and let the rest of the world judge them. But I think the real mistake is letting it reach this point in the first place."

Azoth gently munches on an apple, watching the panic below.

"... By the Light, this inner-conflict is simply a dirty power struggle between greedy Mali, isn't it?" he asks, turning to a nearby cactus. When it does not respond, Azoth shrugs and continues to swing his legs over the edge of the rooftop, slurping happily on the fruit.

Mediliyur would have read the note calmly just as the words began to fade from it's page sighing as she mumbles to herself " Oeme iyat nae kae'maln. " Making her way back inside remembering the times she couldn't wait to hear the words of the once Great Kalenz.
