The Karovian Guard

 - The Karovian Guard - 

 

 

The Karovian Guard force was established on the 6th of Snow’s Maiden, 1485 by Siegmund Putrovic on the decree of House Vanir and the ruling council and King of Akovia. The Guards serve to protect and serve the populace of Karovia, both as an acting militia in times of war and constable force.

 

 

Guardsmen swear an Oath to the Kingdom to protect and serve the citizens in times of peace, subduing law breakers until they may be received at trial, and protecting the citizens of the city as a first line of defense against raiders, criminals, undead, or other threats. Guards are trained vigorously, using lethal force only when necessary, and regularly patrol the road up to Karovia, with a limited amount of operation occurring in Akovia as a whole. 

 

Guardsmen are required to wear their uniforms at all times during active duty, and will be supplied upon acceptance into the ranks. Weapons, armor, and a daily food ration will be provided alongside of this. 

 

Ranks

 

Captain

 

The Commander of the Guard, the Captain reports directly to the King and Council of Akovia. He is charged with the organization and operation of the guard as a whole, as well as their supply and pay. 

 

Lieutenant

 

Standing as the second in command to the Captain, Lieutenants function as a model to new guards, and routinely lead patrols and training. They advise the Captain, and handle a hefty portion of the Guard's recruitment. 

 

Guardsmen

 

The footman, and the workforce. The guardsmen are the muscle of the watch. These men enforce the law, hold the peace, and do as told by their superiors. The aid the recruits in their training, and often hold skilled professions aside from their Guard post. 

 

Recruit

 

These men are newly accepted. They may be learning, training, or merely passing a formality. Recruits begin their training under the watch of a Guardsmen or a Lieutenant, before ultimately taking their oath and being sworn in as a full member. 

 

Tenets of the Guard Force

 

- Uphold the law and life of the Kingdom and her people 

- A guard shall not wrongfully detain or arrest a citizen of the kingdom

- Guards shall not be a part of inter conflict within the watch

- Guards must give formal notice and be formally dismissed before leaving their post, or vacating the city

- A Guard man shall give way to the Vangard, King's Levy or Council member when ordered
