Kickstarted and Running 965 Share Posted December 28, 2014 The World of Ruma The World of Ruma is a realm created at the start of time, by the work of many higher powers who had been in existence before the concept of time was even thought of. They grew to love and hate, laugh, hurt and so forth. These beings created the world based on their ideas and what they imagined, and those which would cultivate it on themselves. Emotions were part of what the higher beings had created, and now these lesser beings which would inhabit Ruma, would have them also. As time passed, the beings which became Gods were less and less involved with their creations. The beings were self reliant now, children taking their first steps alone. As Gods became forgotten, they died. Sometimes their worship would begin again, and life would be brought back to these beings but more often new Gods were created. So powerful was the soul of these creations it held the strings of life for their own creators. War came and war passed, peace, famine, miracles and so forth. The world was divided by deep oceans and marked by masses of land which would be ruled by mighty Empires and brought done by fierce hordes. It is the Second Age, the First Age has passed into myth some thousand years ago, with the fall of the One Supreme to the alliance of the Creations which inhabit the world. It rocked the entire earth to it's core and split the continent and kingdoms, sundered vast empires, and destroyed civilizations. The remnants are there and legends supported by ruins lay under mountains and in forests, or sunken below seas for the scholar or the adventurer to find. But now is a time of Kings and Legends, for stories to be born and heroes to bring their stories to the mind of children and people for age unending. Now is the Second Age, the Age of Kings. -=- High Fâe Union Under the Guidance of the High Lord Galador, House of Faen, the Union of the High Fâe begins to send brilliant Swanships with settlers and guard detachments to the neighboring coasts to set up trade ports and towns. Destroyer_Bravo 1054 Share Posted December 28, 2014 ELOQUENCE EDIT: "That Orcish Tribe", or the Horde of Lur Rap'Lur's nameless outfit has begun taking to calling themselves the Horde of Lur. He grunted, signaling that the name was acceptable. After years of consolidating power, he reached out to his Lur brothers (?) to detail an alliance between the three orcish powers. Rap'Lur ordered smaller clans to disperse along the border of his land, forming their border patrol of raiders. A new doctrine was established along said border tribes; Raid anything that seems too close to your fort, which is not an orcish structure. Take those who prove to be useful, and break them as slaves. This doctrine was established to build a stock of many useful people, unflinchingly loyal and unable to leave. Slaves were bought by Rap'Lur, which the border tribes would take.
thepizzaplac 5 Share Posted December 28, 2014 Missing Destiny The old fashioned group to the north has been stuck in their ways for many decades, but somehow are still in their infancy. Many have attributed this to the current leader of the government right now. This has caused many problems for the faction but they still have been able to maintain defense in this time of need. With mountains to the east and west of them and the desolate frozen wasteland above them they mainly have to worry about threat from the south which gives them a slightly advantage if a situation of need were to arise. The country's focus has shifted to stabilizing the government now and hopefully silencing the protests of the common-folk. This has lead their leader to enact many Degrees to hopefully do this aforementioned focus. The first requiring all citizens to report the number of people living in each household and their jobs and such ((A census of sorts)). This will occur soon at many towns and cities across the faction until the leader can figure out how to better service everyone and gain the favour of his people. The next step he has taken is hiring a cartographer to map out his town in better detail as the leader before him ((His father)) didn't do so well at keeping up with this, This is the beginnings of it. The nation lead by the Prophets chosen one Xuron, with the title Radreel, or "The Wise One" in the fae nation he is the eldest elf in the nation with the strongest connection to their deity. As the High Fae diplomats arrive on the shores of the mountainous port city and capitol of the nation. With natural walls of the large plateaus and mountains surrounding the civilian portion of the city. The only way into the city is through the main gates of the city sprawled in a large gateway along the northern river, heavily guarded narrow strip of land and water. Or by the grand capitols docks, filled with pristine warships and merchant vessels this is a common place for many nations and people to have a rest stop on their journeys in the lower portion of the continent. The are greeted with general disregard from the populous for long while had the two nations argued about which nation truly embodies the high fae people but no longer. Two heavily armored fae guards sent directly from the guarded castle and monastery of the Prophet where Xuron and his council reside in the beautiful marble structure. The diplomats arrive at the keep and are greeted by somewhat friendly looking faces these fae here are not as stuck up and seclusive as their other kin. And debate with the diplomats for a few days before coming to a conclusion. Deidrac and high fae shores and ports are allowed to be used freely by one another The Deidrac people will be equal in standing with the High fae union and both nations shall be considered equal The opening of sea trade routes between both nations The possible alliance within the fae populous allowing militant and political protection for all fae peoples within both nations The terms are bound in a scroll as the diplomats return to sea to go to their capitol and behind them Deidrac ship bound eastward to the Dominion of Martse looking to open up free trade routes between the two nations both by ship and land, as well as the combined removal of the various bandit camps plaguing the merchantile land between the two nations. Monomakhos 1849 Share Posted December 28, 2014 Hundreds of various chieftains, freeholders and ‘noblemen’ gathered in the field - The Folkmoot had been called by King Pepin, and on the agenda was expansion across the forested plains to the south. The various freemen of Serault chattered, and Theudebert de Fruegin; a powerful chieftain whom held most of the territory along the border, was amongst those who were most vocal on settlement to the south, and it was he whom Pepin yielded to on the matter in the end, once the discussions closed. The elderly king rose from his makeshift throne, a gilded crown set resting upon his brow. He spoke in a stern, yet kind tone, "And so, the Folkmoot draws to a close. I thank you all, for your attendance, and have come to gather my thoughts on these things. Theudebert shall lead all those whom are willing to the south, to carve out new holdings for our people, and for our Kingdom. Go, with the blessing of the Exalted Maker, and prosper." As he finished, he lowered himself back into his seat, stifling back a fit of coughing. The crowds erupted into clamor, a mix of cheering and cries of disdain. Only days past before the exodus began. Thousands upon thousands of men marched south and into the forests nestled against the southern border of Serault - the sound of creaking wheels and hoof beat resounding for miles as young men and women alike made out to carve out their own livelihoods, in both the name of their God, and their Kingdom. bickando 3967 Share Posted December 28, 2014 The Dominion of Martse The retinues of the leaders of Martse's various freeholds and marches stood in front of the castle of the House of Edelarc, Inside was Andrana Edelarc, a female Silvan Fae, standing in front of the Human marquesses and barons she ruled over. Decades ago she had unified the center of the continent's southern coastline through diplomacy, and only the area around her castle was actually inhabited by Silvans. True to her race's nature, though, she left them more or less alone. The leadership of the nation had been called to the capital for a meeting about the state. Andrana, sitting at one end of the Great Hall's table stood up and addressed the crowd. "For years I have stayed silent about the ways of our State. Each holding governs itself with just a fraction going towards the crown, and that keeps everyone happy. I have found, however, that this may not be able to last forever as it is - there aren't enough resources in Martse for its growing population. Therefore, we will begin expansion to the West and the North. Every barony, every holding, is able to expand one of these directions, and whatever you get you keep. I myself will begin this as well. After two decades, the Dominion of Martse will move once again!" Actions: Expansion
dirtryhary 26 Share Posted December 28, 2014 Confederation of Gal Varak The Confederation of Gal Varak is the result of a bastard mix of hardy northern humans and Drudmur moving in from the east. Long ago, the two races warred for the scarce supplies in the tundra of the north. Year after year, and people settled down for the war to never end until one side completely collapsed. Moving in from the mountains, the Drudmur had wanted to escape the mines they labored in for so long. Seeing the north as free land to colonize to set up shop, they had moved in with force. The humans were simply protecting their home land, where they have always lived. Highly adapted to the land and it's ways, the humans at first were winning the war. But as more and more Drudmur arrived, their superior technology prevailed. All this was put to a halt however, when the great winter came. Utterly dark and frozen, the north experienced a freak nature storm. Lasting for nearly all of autumn and winter, food gave out half way through. By the time the snow melted, most of the population had died. Drudmur now less numerous were being killed off quicker by the marginally better off humans. Seeing this endless conflict as useless, Savik the uniter stood against the violence. A northern king of a city on a rich seam of gold, he commanded respect from many local tribes. After son after son died, and his people could no longer till the land they once had, he knew the time to stop was now. Having a grand council between the leaders of the Drudmur and various human tribes, arguments had been fierce. The war had ground down everyone however, and they all put aside their differences to join together. The Confederation of the Drudmur and Northern People's had ben formed. After decades, the confederation took shape into an actual nation. Cultures began to mesh, and the two races taught each other skills their counterpart did not know. Humans in the north began to work metals, and Drudmur learned the ways of agriculture in the rich but usually frozen tundra. As Drudmur culture was more and more embraced, the Confederation's name was changed to that of the present name. Ulric Stonefist son of Dain was the Confederation's voted in High king, and his ways were of the north. The humans living there had always been reavers, plaguing the regular trade routes and raiding coastal villages. Needing food and furs to survive, the reavers did not try to justify themselves but accepted they needed to to survive. As the Drudmur meshed more and more, their armor styles changed to that of a reaver too. They soon began partaking in the reaving, and their formidable presence helped considerably. The people of the Confederation were a sturdy, fierce, and earthy mix. They were bearded and clothed in furs and animal skins, and women were just as fierce, if not more. The Confederation's military were free citizens of the Drudmur acting on personal interest, patriotism, or the desire for southerner riches. The human aspect was tribal champions selected to serve, along with volunteers from the local citizenry. The army was kept relatively small, but were highly effective. Years of reaving has honed each troop's skill, and their armor was thick and expertly made. Typically using battleaxes, warhammers, polearms, and crossbows, the troops relied on quality equipment and fierce battle skills to win. Their innate knowledge of the north made it a blood bath to intrude on the Confederation's land, and guerrilla tactics were a favorite of the armies. A separate branch of the military called the Guards of the Hearth were a disciplined and motivated guard force. All of them in thick scale armor with weapons of iron and steel, their sole purpose was to guard the Confederation's mining possessions in the mountain range they called the 'Snowy Mountains'. They received orders only from the High King, and were also expected to protect the mines riches being carted west to the homeland. Slaves were kept in the nation, and most were sent to work in the mines. Primarily people's snatched from other nation's while reaving, their were all sorts of races -even Uruks- to spend the rest of their lives toiling in the mines. Slave Warriors were not unheard of, and they were loyal and fierce warriors. They would row the Confederation's dragon boats and fight if called upon. The regular citizens of the Confederation didn't have slaves, but were well off. Life in the south and cities was better, and reavers lived best as all and lived as heroes. Agriculture was hard in the north, as there was a thin season as which to plant. Primarily relying on a mesh of Drudmur and human farming focused on quick productivity, and cattle and other livestock. This problem often led to food shortages that the mining holds to the east would have to cart food over. It was just this very problem that led to Ulric to call forth the general's to his army. Great human warrior-chiefs stood shoulder to shoulder with Drudmur honed in the ways of tactical warfare. The humans were the violent fury, and the Drudmur the cold and calculated iron fist. Chieftain Mackenzie was given command of six hundred troops, and Snorri Beardweaver was seconded to his command. The two would lead their troops south, to bring in rebellious tribes. They would also march out of the tundra and into the warmer regions. Humans there were peaceful, and were expected to be brought in easily. If not, violence was always an option. Reavers headed out from the Confederation, their destination unknown. The Vyrantium Imperium's envoys were halted well south of the Confederation's capital. Fearing they would freeze to death if they advanced into the harsh winter climate, the envoy's are treated in a modest market town. Their terms are sent north to Ulric, and after a few weeks, terms are sent back. Ulric would agree to a trade agreement, his primary goal to import food and sell off metals. Reluctant to allow a different nation to enter his mines, he instead offered to sell off metals, or have his people establish mines in the Imperium -for a price-. Investment is welcomed, and Ulric ask for help building the Confederation's feared dragon boats. The mining colonies in the snowy mountain were more like armed settlements. Each of the three was stoutly garrisoned with high stone walls. On the inside was all the housing and commercial areas, and in the center the pit leading to the mines. The mines were worked every day and night by slaves and workers, and the production scale was profitable. The mines themselves were a rich target, and preparations were made to have them blown and collapse in if the settlement is under threat. Though it would be hard to get through a stone wall manned by colonist militia and Guards of the Hearth, precautions were always needed.
Sneaky 189 Share Posted December 29, 2014 The True Kingdom of Lur Decades past as the last tribal war had ended between the Lurs, Gorkil and Ugluks. The Lurs usually outnumbered, had pulled off one of the greatest victories in the history of Ruma. Led by a great orc, Craotor Lur, the Lurs ambushed the Gorkil camp at the moons peak and slayed them and their favorable allies the Ugluks. The tribal feuds had gone on long enough, and Craotor, demanded a peace by the two enemies. But they refused, challenging him to an duel to decide the final victor of the war. Craotor accepted, bringing his best warrior with him to fight in a two on two duel. It was a long hard fought battle, Craotor was killed during the duel but Wulgehn prevailed killing both champions of the Gorkil and Ugluks. They were forced under the Lurs as the lesser of the people. ========================= After Boul came to power he turned the Lurs in to ruthless killers, most never knew the things that went on before their time as he kept educational matters to goblins. He had a select group of Orcs, Shamans to be exact that dove deep into the sprits they study these constantly. It is rumoured that the men of Maren brought down a beast so massive that it fed the entire nation for years. Its massive skeleton was used to create the throne room, a massive hall built around the rib cage of the beast. Its wings were placed beside the throne, and its head on the top. It gave the appearance of a roaring dragon. It was time to revive the slumbering dragon, to revive the nation. Long ago dwarven slave mines had taken up colonies in the mountains, it was time to put this to an end. The King orders that the military be reformed and each soldier given a standard outfit of weapons and armor. A cartographer is sent throughout the lands to take a census and mark holdings. Booklight12 481 Share Posted December 29, 2014 The Fae of Deidrac One year has passed since the trade agreements with the two fae nations of the high fae union and the fae of Tameth. It has been prosperous for all of them trade flourishing throughout them, and as small camps and settlements of fae merchants from Daidrec spread across the mountainous lower regions of Ruma, the Daidrec would begin to use this to their advantage staking claims to natural walls barriers of other nations in the lower regions to maintain their community and get rid of various threats such as many of the weaker orcish bands gaining strength in the far eastern rivers of the desert. So this year has been spent taking these claims and uniting the fae, aswell as the occasional human, or dwarven merchants that travel about these regions. Hoping to use the very edge of these mountain regions as their natural wall they would begin to sprout small villages among the year right now just starting as huts and tents the capitol of Daidrec aswell as the main commercial hub of the nation would be bustling as many fae families, merchants and religious leaders lead large parties to secure the mountains. With this one hope to protect the nation and capitol of threats using the mountain wall, they will be able to focus on better things with a better defense. So all peoples efforts are for this as new villages begin to sprout out there would be four of note yet to be named officially, but are being coined by the populous as Dai'draguul, Protectors of Daidrec in fae hoping to be the watchers of the walls and will be able to act as holds to prevent future invasions, these four cities in the northernmost point, two on the eastern mountains, and then a single village 350 miles to the west of the northernmost one. It will take 3 years for them to be finished the economy secured and the borders beginning to increase slightly west, and east, aswell as north towards the small natural sea they hope to use as the last wall where the mountains end on each side. 2 years without disruption the borders will be finalized and 3 for the villages to be completely finished. Whilst the defenses are being created, inside the capitol the The Chosen one, speaker of The Prophet Xuron gathers his council speaking of a possible holy sight 300 miles east from the city believing to be an ancient temple sighted by merchants travelling to a city down that way. The council discuss the terms and agree that it would be best to travel there, though it is the chosen ones journey as he is the speaker of the Prophet their god.. Though, perhaps it would be best to speak more of the Prophet now. Embodied in two forms as a Blue Wolf, and a mighty Red Dragon. It is believed the Prophet will lead the fae people of these lands to salvation and peace. With complete balance, both good and evil. Their ideals shape what they are today though they are not hateful to other people and their religion like some of their fae bbrethren for in Xuron and the Prophets teachings it is believed that most people are able to believe in what they want, even if it is wrong or twisted. And that is how The Chosen one sprouted up. The eldest of all the Fae of Daidrec, he was from a boy gifted in magics stories being known all throughout the magic peoples across the lands, even going as far as the orcs of his might in battle. At age 10 casting his first fireballs, and at the young age of 50 rivaling even the greatest of wizards, witches, mages, and enchantresses across his people. Once born in the High Fae union he was ushered into the military and rising through some of their ranks before him and a few followers broke off in search for more travels in their almost immortal life, he said he would return.. Though that was centuries upon centuries ago. In his travels getting a vision from what him and his followers believed to be a higher being "The Prophet" told them to create a nation of Daidrec and so they did. Now many years since. His exploits and power don't end there as rumors have been spread long ago that it is believed that in battle he turns into a dragon itself. Though mainly rumors for his adept powers in fire mysticism He holds various other spells under his belt but those would be his most prominent... Though who knows? No one can ever be truly certain in these lands. Except that it would be truly dangerous for bandits or a try at assassination on the fae leader as he leaves the capitol for the first time in over 25 years. Word is spread that the leader leave the capitol now looked after the second in charge "Seeker" of the Prophet Balsth Zyandr until the leader returns. And so the fae leader departs his city with the high praise from the various citizens and worshipers who come just to see him depart. Leaving with three of his personal rangers, unlike the city personal guard these ones are equipped with longbows, short swords and the acute senses they have honed in their long lives. They depart on their white stallions. A month or so word would travel fast throughout the lands that the mighty dragon Xuron ends his slumber on a spiritual quest in his lands though with no direct location or knowledge of it. Assassins, and bounty hunters hesitant as to if they wish to risk going to the harsh mountainous lands, in search for the leader. It can be both rewarding aswell as dangerous. But it is for the other nations to decide. It is said he is believed to return in less than a year from his journey without any disturbances.
Destroyer_Bravo 1054 Share Posted December 29, 2014 That Orcish Tribe / The Horde of Lur Rap'Lur calls in his vassal clans to the main seat of his power, the Lur tent by the lake. He requests the leaders bring their highest quality slaves to the meeting, for a trade with Rap. Rap'Lur had come across a small reserve of 'desert bears', strange bears which had managed to survive in the harsh desert climate, with minimal food in many different climates. He had the bears trained to be able to accept riders, and bred to be given to the clans with the best slaves. After days of deliberation, a few bears were given to the most prominent and sucessful clans, one male and one female, as well as instructions on the training and care of your desert bear. More tribes which have been idling around the Lur tent have been made to forge out past the current established border, mainly in a straight line to the forests. Spearheading this expedition to the edge of the desert, was some Lur Bear Cavalry. The 'Invasion Plan' The intended planof invasion would be to charge in this general direction, utterly burn whatever stands in this path, then establish clan forts along the path, creating an extrusion in the Horde territory. If the forces turn out to be too run-down to continue further, they will return to the Lur tent and start the invasion again. (1 page perhaps?) The Bear Cavalry of the Horde of Lur The Horde of Lur's Bear Cavalry are an elite force of the fiercest warriors who managed to tame a desert bear. These uruks are regarded as the most fearsome and successful warriors of the entire horde. Rap'Lur himself (depicted above with less green) is too a member of the Lur Bear Cavalry Force. The only issue with the Bear Cavalry would be the extremely low number of them. As such, until the new Bear Cavalrymen can grow and tame their bears, and mature them (5 pages, desert bears are a variant of the grizzly which takes five years to reach maturity), the Bear Cavalrymen would function as fierce frontline commanders, with twice as much death per Cavalryman. ShadowoKing 86 Share Posted December 29, 2014 Fae of Tamenth The trading agreement with Deidrac nation has been successful although any traders from Deidrac were reguarally checked. Speaker Rhaegos ask for a group of scout archers to head east to check the desert in rumours of orcs not far East from them, they are signed to spy on them in the borders of green woods with along few resources and builders to set up a outpost there. Setherus, the Two headed Dragon of Justice and Revenge. Beroth, the Earth. Lioth, the sun and the moon. Mekarth, Snake of war and the afterlife. Fundor, bettle of war and blood. Sirath, elk of hope and holy. It was told they disappeared into a stone signil left before the development of Fae of Tamenth as they were used to tribes many centuries ago. The tales of these gods where that they walk among the Fae with strange masks, skinny and in red robes similar to what Tamenth use as banners. These gods had the power to change shape into their iconic creatures except two gods Beroth and Lioth which they grew jealous and sealed the gods into the stone. This made the existing numbers of Fae disappear to hide what these two gods did, so they planned to turn immortal. Beroth ascended to his Earth, and Lioth ascended to the sun and moon. This stone signil became holy place for the Grand Temple to settle upon. Speaker Rhaegos has studied his years into trying to releash their gods to the mortal world, he came to conclusion he requires more priests to able to do a ritual. So Speaker Rhaegos brought a speech about priesthood on about what the Gods desires his people to do, and the magic they will able to access by applying to train as a priest. The powers of a priest is to able to heal and difficult magic of necromacy. Speaker Rhaegos is the only master of necromacy in Tamenth as rumours goes he defeated wild horde of animals with skeleton of a elephant. This move has decreased the chance of more military men as they are low as it is. Military commander, Deventh grunted his teeth as he questions secretly on this move and his focus is the new allies far south and possible threat far east. He declares with Speaker Rhaegos approval to make their ancient borders set claimed with a bit adjustment to border size by setting up few other outposts as well.
