The last couple of months have proven that people are willing to do any length of stupid **** to "prank" LoTC. It's possible that you were being redirected to another server. EDIT: Minetime has a cap of 3000 players, another screenshot which says the exact same thing though replacing LoTC with Minetime was shown however the cap was 300 players.
