Maln’thill / Haelun’thill

Initial Narrative:

Recently, I have come across multiple pieces of evidence of a concept known as Maln’thill or Haelun’thill - Pure Father or Pure Mother. Upon reading the writings of my ancient Aegis ancestor Celithrarion Visaj, I have learned that in the secular and small High Elven communities of that time, each child was assigned a Pure Mother or Father to look after them. The Pure Mother or Father must be good friends with the parents and renowned in their purity standards.

Purpose of Maln’thill / Haelun’thill

Through my readings, I have discovered that the purpose of this Pure Father or Mother was to ensure that the child was properly raised and not spoiled or given a false sense of importance due to natural favoritism of parents. The Maln’thill / Haelun’thill’s second purpose is to provide the child with a very thorough education in purity and the maehr’sae hiylun’ehya to ensure that the parents do not twist these concepts in favor of their child.

Traditions / Rituals involving the Maln’thill / Haelun’thill

The moment the child is born to parents, the Maln’thill or Haelun’thill that has been chosen takes the child and deems their appearance worthy of the Mali’aheral or not. If the appearance has been deemed worthy, then the child is washed by the Maln/Haelun’thill in a replica (since they do not exist in Athera) of the golden pools, representing their initial acceptance into the society of Mali’thill and their initial ascension to true purity. If not, the child is donated to the acid pit.

During the time the child grows, the Maln/Haelun’thill will be their main teacher and will have a special relationship with said child. It is expected of the Maln/Healun’thill to dedicate much of their time to the child.

When the child reaches fifty years of age or adulthood, the Maln/Haelun’thill decides whether or not they are ready to be fully immersed as an adult into the society of mali’thill. If they are not, the adult will be subjected to another ten years of learning and legal childhood, and this will continue until they are ready.

Please do note that a mali’aheral can be Maln’thill or Haelun’thill to only one child at a time.

The End of Maln’thill / Haelun’thill in Aegis

This wonderful tradition seems to have been lost in the annals of history during the transfer from Aegis to Asulon. It was the mali’thill goal to start a civilization of their own and survive in Asulon, and thus this tradition was utterly forgotten.

The Revival of Maln’thill / Haelun’thill

We mali’aheral are creatures of tradition. Since the discovery of this old custom, I encourage all mali’aheral to participate in it. Not only will it strengthen our friendships and bonds in our society, but it will prevent the breeding of large egos and complete self-absorbance due to the natural favoritism of parental units. This custom will surely further the maehr’sae hiylun’ehya and make all of our kind teachers as they were meant to be.

Seth frowns as he reads the tome, and shakes his head. Once Seth gets home, he would tell his family of his oppinion.

"It's most curious with Damasus' so called 'historic documents', considering it speaks of a liquid not discovered at the time, acid. Alyn, I am sure you know by now what to think of him." He then continues his day at home as normaly.

"I think this may warrant further discussion, certainly looks interesting." says the Sohaer

"Laurir, I must agree with Seth. On the other hand... Whether this was truly traditional at the time or not, as you say, it is an interesting concept, one which I believe has many boons to elcihi - might I suggest that one takes this into some serious consideration, regardless of its questionable origins?" says Elokarir'mali Asul'athri.

Damasus nods his head to the others, but completely ignores Seth's home conversation as he is not in his home...

"This would have intense benefits to our society and perhaps even encourage reproduction, something we desperately need due to our population decrease."
