Void Rift's And Void Corruption -Wip-

Rogue arch mage Kelasthros sat in his study writing. For days he had been researching in a attempt to solve the question of "Are we alone?" but to no avail all of his studies revealed nothing, in desperation he attempted to establish a connection strong enough with the void to see if he could make a physical manifestation of it, using various runes and arcane arts he created a ritual circle strong enough to establish a link to the void and began conjuring, his ritual did create something...or rather summoned something evil and foreboding to the mortal plane. Black miasma filled the room and the terrifying horror that appeared had many black tendrils with a swirling purple eye in its center, the creature's eye turned into a massive maw and it shrieked in horror before shattering the windows of his study with its horrid screech and then vanished back into the void. Kelasthros was knocked into the wall of his study and let out several curses as he came to a realization.  

 

This answered his question,  there was something beyond the veil and it was dark but powerful, truly a marvel of the void. He foolishly thought of the arcane secrets this creature must of known, the power it demonstrated during its mere few seconds in the physical plane was mind shattering. He MUST know more...his thirst for Void essence had begun.

 

Now, his lust for power had begun. The void hungers...he thought to himself as he began his final studies.

 

Book One

 

The Void Rift's

 

Day One

 

"When i stood before this void node i thought only of the power, of the great void that is in my heart and the black energy that is in this node. The void itself whispers to me every day, promising me power beyond measure if i free it. Such must be the way, the void must be free the mages of this world must be punished for tapping into its power, the time has come for it to claim its prize."

 

"Once upon a time, there was a unrelenting darkness that could never be ended unless by some terribly strong will of creation. From this darkness a infinite cosmos of knowledge came into fruition creating all that we know today, according to my theory the void is this icy darkness that separates all matter. As such, it is creation and it is destruction, being such means it will be able to host many types of volatile energies and species of so called "Void horrors" however the void seems rather impossible to touch or feel without the use of magic." 

 

"To this conclusion it is possible to use a high torrent of magic to somehow pierce the dimensional fabric that separates all matter and rend the veil that separates us, physically. Much similar to how daemons and portals work, this type of conjuration will summon the void into our world through a tear in the dimensional fabric. By doing this however, one cannot  know if he would be safe from the horrors and corruption that will seep through. We know the void can cause a weakness or ailment of sorts and can cause virulent void based corruptions capable of ending many lives. What we do not know is if a direct link to the void might cause this on a more unstable scale...this must be investigated further." 

 

"I have begun my research where the veil is weakest. The mine under Petrus seems to have several void nodes within it, i will begin my research here but first i must prepare my laboratory deep within the mines."

 

Day Two

 

"The whispers have been getting stronger, i have set my laboratory in the correct area. The void is strong here, too strong. 

 

I have begun harvesting arcane energy from the void nodes, if my theory is correct, a void node is essentially a small tear into the void left over by mysterious means. If i Use a powerful enough mana gem to sap arcane energies into a focusing rune set on a pedestal and then release this same energy as a ray of pure arcane magic directed into the void node it will shatter whatever veil is separating it by essentially overloading it." 

 

I will begin the experiment and see if the veil gets pierced."

 

Day Three

 

"My experiment worked...a void rift was created by my experiment. When the energy charged the node it caused it to implode and pull any matter near it into the void, stabilizing the rift after it opened was no easy task as it required a portal frame on the ground where the rift had opened. Thus more the rift attempted to pull me into it during the process."

 

"Using several runes and portal frames created with obsidian i was able to stabilize the rift, now it is just a matter of waiting to see what happens."

 

"Several days have passed and whispers have begun to seep from the rift, the stone around the rift has also changed drastically. It seems this void rift causes anything too close to it to mutate and change, even physical materials like stone seem to be left unchanged by this effect as the stone has begun to turn purple and sand-like."

 

"I have named this effect the void corruption, as i theorized this corruption is quite dire. Through research i have found that the rift will turn stone and dirt into a purple sand-like substance however plants and animals are changed in a more severe sense. The energy the rift emits seems to saturate anything including living beings. I have tested this with a rat and the rat can no longer be considered a rat. In only a mere few minutes of exposure it turned purple, afterwards a fleshy substance covered it and it turned into a abomination of the void."

 

"I have been exposed to this corruption, i must seal this cave and myself within it but these notes must make it to the surface..."

 

 

 

 

Turning the pages you would find that the rest of the book is in flawless condition but each page is written in strange cryptic runes, each rune looks eldritch in origin and hastily crafted. At the last page the words: "Save me" are inscribed.

 

 

 

 

 

 

((Note: I am posting this tiny bit of the lore on the forums for now.

 

I will be reviewing this with LM's and i will be simply doing mass edits on this to add more lore to it. This lore is WIP and is not finished. ))

He was a archmage that went missing back on Anthos. I basically made him up as i needed a arch mage for the story, but he would have been pulled into the void through a rift shortly after his banishment. 

 

Not much will be known about him other then some old tome's on his research and a few void horrors summoned into the world as a result of his research.

Sadly yes, if i can find someone to RP the lore as a arch mage i could make a REAL character. Until then a fake one has to do.

I recommend changing it up a little, otherwise this idea once expanded could be interesting.

Archmage is just a title fate, you can probably get away with just saying it's some random elven mage or something. People do it plenty of times in lore as Lark stated. I only skimmed the idea slightly, and it seems cool. But iunno if the (Dirty) LM's would accept it currently since there are some minor holes in it. The only thing that sounded iffy from skimming it was the arcane energies thing, since there really isn't anything in the lore about what that is.

The arcane energy is void magic that seeped from the void being collected and shot back at it. This would cause it to overload after a while causing it to implode.

I like the idea. Seems like the developers/lore-masters could even make a new sub-division of magic with this?...

....or am I too bold...
