This has evolved into a discussion about the recent ban placing.

Please no flaming, aggressiveness, or trolling.

Original Post:

"I read the recent ban appeal for sky and I don't really understand what happened. I'd like people to give their thoughts about it but no passive aggressiveness like, "so this happened because the staffs a bunch of corrupts..."

I like reading about these sort of things also"

He quoted what Admins said in the admin skype chat, and let someone banned read them.

He showed moogle logs from the skype chat pertaining to moogle's ban, I hardly think that's grounds to ban someone especially since he was

1) an administrator at the time

2) the ban happened a month after he did the thing.

And for 5 months? Regardless of what the GMs responsible claim, it looks a hell of a lot like a target ban.

From what I heard he was an admin at the time of quoting the chat?

As a note, I did not request for this to be put up as well as the fact that I am not offended by the thread. Just in-case any Forum Moderator or above was thinking such, I do not mind this thread and should be allowed to flourish into a discussion topic. I will not be posting of denying things or accepting things, simply posting this in hopes that it isn't locked or deleted for false reasoning.

leaking from staff chats regardless of the reasoning is always grounds for punishment. people have been removed from ET for leaking from the chat (whether or not I agree with that action is another matter) and people will continue to be punished, staff or not, for doing such things; the higher-security the chat the more punishment for leaking. Do I think 5 months is appropriate? no, not really. Do I think moogle's ban was appropriate? Thats another story. Do I think people need to be held responsible for their actions despite 'popularity'? yes, but that applies across the board to everyone

If leaking a staff chat is a bannable offense then there should at least be equal treatment, I leaked the ET chat to players and only got put on hold, I didn't even officially get removed from the team - I just left because **** that noise.

Either unban Sky, or ban me, frankly speaking. The situation is ridiculous, he's an Aether VIP and a previous admin. Where is the comradery anymore among the staff members themselves? Bloody hell.

On top of this, the 'evidence' given passed the two week threshold, it's from a Skype log, and the player is now unbanned that it was leaked to.

You fucked up on this one, Freema, and honestly reacting to chat leaks is the only thing I've ever seen you actually do, literally that's it.

Clearly this is turning into a discussion between if the ban was right or wrong and I will adjust the title to be more appropriate.

I agree with Lulu and Cosmic but I also believe that an exception should be made seeing as he was an admin helping a player.

Unless someone can cite, word for word, that admins are not allowed to leak unaffiliated third party application logs utilized for LotC purposes - Sky should be unbanned immediately, simple as that. I can't even find the two week threshold rule for evidence anymore.

Those responsible for the ban should also face punishment for this ridiculous situation, and more than just a slap on the wrists.

Too often GMs make decisions based on undocumented rules who's existence is frankly rather questionable these days. Where is this 'no leaking' rule written down? Was Sky informed it was a rule when he became a GM? Or at least given a list of GM-specific do-not-do's to read?

...Or did this just come out of nowhere?

We can all agree that the no leaking rule is just common sense, but in this case, it is fair for him to try and help a player.

You guys have turned on the entire staff team, we are fully aware of the problems but either way he has leaked chat and breached privacy of skype. What reason do they have to ban sky based on popularity? He isn't some beacon of freedom, he's an ex-admin who stepped down, calm your ****. I think the ban was justified, but I do not think 5 months is a fair time.
