Orcs In Vailor [4.5]

The slavery part could work, but being subtle and using deceit is not an Orcish trait. The way it is handled now with large and public slaving is, half arsed. The issue there lies in that the RP have been a bit lacking from our side and people reacted to that, as in things were simply rushed as if it is just about getting the slave and then end the RP there. Have to have responsible people when taking slaves, maybe the Rex can issue people to be slavers as a start to see how it turns out?

End of the line I think we could continue the ancient way? To plan an ambush would be a bit cowardly to do so, but instead find locations with X amount of people that we could raid, attack them, use brute force as that is a key part. We just have to do it better and have the right people doing it because it is a sensitive thing.

And yes no public mass enslaving with mediocre RP, agreed!

It's not cowardly, it's mostly just based on why should the Orcs go out of their way to enslave someone when they can sit and wait for someone to basically walk to them.

We have a clan system, each clan has certain roleplay they consistently carry out. I.E Glogols are the Slavers.

I don't think being isolationist is a good policy for a fun, active population. Works for high elves because they have the dichotomy with other Elves, and were fairly large, but Orcs are smallish so I feel RP will grow stale. Meh, haven't play my Orc in forever, don't have a say in it, I guess.

Not isolationists to the degree of the High Elves, much rather they won't be found in taverns and stuff just roleplaying there. That just doesn't make sense, they would mostly RP in their desert and develop their own internal RP. Then we can expand onto further RP with external sources.

I love your intentions and I feel as though this might improve the orcish playerbase. What concerns me about this however, is that I'm not sure if we have enough Orcs to pull this off, especially when we will have to seclude ourselves from the rest of the server..

This sounds really epic, Dunno how i'll go mostly keeping to the desert though, might have to up the amount of hunting events and others for stuff to do... like now aswell I imagine there will not be many ores in the desert, although its not very rp to be an orc miner, but when no one is online it would be nice to be able to go mining and get some stuff, rather then having to wait for like 4 people to go jump some elf for his stuff hahahah

Sounds good on paper, but I'm not sure isolated roleplay would fit a fraction of the entire server. New players wouldn't understand why they would have to remain in the desert when adventure awaits in the rest of the world. Individual characters may not wish to conform to isolationism in general, as Vailor would likely offer an abundance of opportunities to gather wealth or power. I think this would apply better for clans or guilds, but not an entire playerbase that fluctuates in nature every other generation.

No more Witcher to eat up all my time so I'll be more active. Looking forward to this.

Isolated works for halflings, but you have to have a player base that wants to play isolation.

Isolation is not my point, I think I either worded it incorrectly or people are understanding it wrong. The Orcs will mostly be in their deserts, by that I mean. You won't see them in Taverns or in the middle of Salvus sitting by the fountain. People will RP with them and such, however, in environments that are RPly suitable for Orcs and make sense.

What Arteh is saying, and what I will repeat to help the point hit home, is that orcs will still be out and about the world. Will you see orcs on a main road, or ranging the wilds, or even traveling through cities? Yes. That being said, will you be able to walk into the tavern at any point of the day and find an Orc, drinking the day away? Will you regularly see a group of them just lazing about in a human or elven settlement? No. Orcs are going to be active and engaged in both their homeland and the outside world without filling the role of social butterflies or wall-flowers that some came to see them as in Athera.

Also, someone mentioned earlier in the thread that orcs would not ambush because it is deceitful (I'm on my phone and too lazy to quote it). Due to the prominence of hunting in orcish culture, ambushes would probably not be seen as dishonorable or cowardly, just as retreating from a lost battle is acceptable. In fact, many would probably see an ambush as a chance to display their tenacity, speed, hunting ability, etc)
