OOC
What’s your Minecraft Account Name?: Sylvan_Jack

How old are you?: 17ish

Are you aware the server is PG-13: Yup yup~

Have you applied to this server before?: Not to my knowledge.

Have you read and agreed to the rules?: Ayep.

What’s the rule you agree with the most?: That fine print at the bottom! Line toeing and pushing limits, generally testing staff’s patience, et cetera, is seriously not cool. As someone who’s been in that position before ( staff-end, don’t worry ), all it causes is headaches, it doesn’t make you appear smarter, just like an arse.

Are there any rule(s) that confuse you or don’t make sense: Nope.

How did you find out about Lord of the Craft? I’ve heard a lot about it, but a friend of mine ( TheMythosaur ) convinced me to actually give you guys a shot. =)

Definitions

What is roleplaying: Roleplay, or RP, is essentially taking on the character of someone else, be it fictional or non-fictional, and acting out their everyday life with others doing the same thing. Your actions, words, and decisions are made as that character. In a sense, it's like acting, but in this case, through text and game. Loads of fun!

What is metagaming: When one finds out information in invalid, typically OOC means, and applies it to their character in-game to gain the upper hand. An example would be hearing of an upcoming attack in an OOC channel and running back to your town to prepare, even though your actual character would have had no way to have known beforehand.

What is powergaming: Forcing one’s actions upon another, again, typically to gain the upper hand. It also encompasses deciding another character’s actions, especially against the will of the other player. For example, using a generic fantasy setting:
*I stab you with my sword. You scream, and die moments later.*
In some cases it also includes bullrushing people into specific actions with no possible way out or around it-- Some would consider this a much more discreet version of power-gaming, as it's not directly stated. Rules differ from server to server and situation to situation, however.

SOMETIMES, HOWEVER. People define Powergaming as over-powering a character, basically turning on god mode and being able to dodge everything, lift the heaviest rock, and never be defeated, essentially.

In-Character Information

Character’s name: Nethar Ranek

Character’s gender: Male

Character’s race: Dark Elf

Character’s age: 64

Biography
Nethar was born during Snow’s Maiden of 1446 and raised as part of an oddly reclusive, extended family of Dark Elves, all living together in a forest-side home that they had settled when they first arrived in Anthos. The eldest of their family was his grandmother, a wisened and subdued woman now many years past her prime, mellowed by the long years. An old-standing family with older-standing tradition, they were neither overly wealthy nor drowning in poverty, sitting comfortably in the middle. Nethar himself was the oldest of four siblings. They grew or hunted a vast majority of their own food, and made most of their own things from what they had on hand. He was only 11 when they had to flee from Anthos- The majority of the Ranek family made it, however, and re-settled on the outskirts of Thales after the events of the Fringe War.

When people began to settle into Athera instead, the Ranek family once again followed. They settled some distance outside Ker’nor, reclusive as always, and returned to their traditions of growing and hunting their necessities themselves. When it was necessary to go into town for what supplies or materials they could not make themselves, Nethar was often sent with a sibling or relative to collect and trade the items inside of Ker’nor.

A long standing tradition within the Ranek family is a coming of age ‘pilgrimage’, in which, when a member of the family is considered to have reached adulthood, they are sent away on a task by the family Elder. To return to the Ranek family, they must have proven themselves worthy, by either bringing back something ( or someone ) of worth, learning a trade or craft of note, or something else that the child believes will benefit the family. To date, the tradition has not been broken, and on this day, it shall not be broken, either. Nethar Ranek has set out now, away from the recesses of the Ranek family grounds, to prove himself, and show his worth.

Personality
Nethar is, at first glance, much the opposite of the dark elven generality of passionate and ‘fiery’. Stoic, stalwart and seemingly stony. While partially true, he is, in reality, far from it- He simply saves his energy and expression for things that matter more to him. One such ‘passion’ he holds is combat and hunt, a skill which he hones through much of his free time. He holds a sharp wit, but knows when to curb his tongue.

The subdued, reserved dark elf holds a notable respect for his elders, though will not blindly follow simply due to the difference in age. He will respect a man of knowledge, and he will respect a man that in turn respects his peers. He does, however, draw a distinct line between respect due to authority, and respect due to views, personality and conduct.

Ambitions: Nethar is young, for an elf, and has lived most of his life within walking distance of his home so far. This isn’t to say he is outright naïve, though he most definitely has much to see and learn about the world before him yet.

Strengths/Talents: Nethar is strong, both in physique and will, and would make a good leader with age. He is an able fighter with sharp eyes and a sharper sense of danger.

Weaknesses/Inabilities: Nethar is no scholar. That is not to say he refuses or does not wish to learn, but merely that in depth academic efforts tend to be lost on him. He will quickly grasp the basis of a subject or trade, but progressing through it proves painstakingly slow for him. In essence- Asides from his combative ability, he could prove a jack of all trades, but a master of none. He is also not the most charismatic, and prefers a blunt, direct approach to things.

Appearance: Less willowy and thin than most of his kin, if it weren’t for the grey of his skin, one may, at first, mistake Nethar for a mere human. He maintains a strong physique, notably due to strict personal discipline with his fitness. His whitish grey hair is shaggy, unevenly cut around his face- Perhaps with a knife, or shears /not/ meant for cosmetic use. His eyes are a deep and lucid red, with a calm sort of lowness to them at nearly all times. He carries himself with confidence and strength.

Nethar is rarely seen without armor. However, when he is, he often opts for long, heavier clothing, in muted shades. One may even note that he seems uncomfortable without a certain weight to his attire.
