Honestly, good job on the buddy system, I think that might really help the team. Probably going to increase creativity and the flow of events? What about doing an mt/et pair? An artist with an engineer isn't a bad idea I don't think? Could make some cool new ideas.

You say this to the one who had equal shunning, arguably more than you but I digress and won't participate in a wang-comparing contest. It comes down to work ethic and your willpower, I got straight to work and turns out that I've had a blast doing so. I'd wager the same would work with a bull-headed cat like you and might turn some good work out but it is your choice in the end.
