This is probably best for when or if the magic plugin comes out. I'm not sure if a crowd would be captivated by two guys text-battling in a sand pit.

To be quite frank, I don't expect it to release any time soon. But it gives mages a place to show off their characters with little fear of PVP. I think that's definitely something they'll want.

Plus the design of the palace will be set up so each arena will be 20-32 blocks away from each other, so no one's emotes will be overlapping the other.

There may also be a tavern, lounge, and recreation hall, so no one has to watch the fights. They can just chill somewhere while waiting to be challenged. If I can figure out how to implement minigames, that'd be awesome too.

This sounds quite cool in my opinion but I may just be dumb but this is for magic users only right? Are there really that many active mages that'll use this?

I quite like Rp fights alot more then PvP but most people just don't have the patience or just want to pvp

Mages only. And we will see once I finished fleshing this out. PVP will only be allowed at the judge's discretion, and if neither side of the conflict can come to a proper resolution.

Yeah this has my support, I wouldn't mind pitting myself against other mages.

This may be a stupid question but would non-magic users be able to buy their way into the club in order to just spectate?

They have to prove their magical abilities in the interview. They can still spectate if they attend with a guest, but there will be regulations on that also.

What if my characters magical ability was to produce a large pouch of gold?

I really like this idea. The first thing I thought of when reading this was the wilderness mage arena in Runescape. xD

Anyway, yeah. I've seen some powerful mages do this very thing in an arena, and it was definitely fun to read and watch. There was nothing boring about it from my point of view. I say go ahead with it. The only thing that I can see going wrong is if big groups of people want to hunt down the club... shrug

The only reason I'd say to keep the group restrictive is because of the potential of these groups wanting to dismantle the arena.

Don't worry. I'll figure out some ways to prepare.

I don't mind a few raids or some hostilities from time to time as they can provide some good RP if executed right, and this is exactly what I want from others who intend to raid. If people show up with the intent to PVP and brag about how they killed edgies every 12 hours then expect me to forward this to staff, because I'm not going to tolerate crappy villainous RP in my establishment.

Plus, it won't be open to the public as voted by the players. There will be a membership fee that will remain as reasonable as possible. Any member in the arena with malevolent intent will find themselves suspended from membership with fines and a potential reregistration fee that they must pay in order to return. Continous troublemaking will have increasing consequences, and those consequences I assure you, will be dire.

Will deity magic be allowed?

Also, there may need to be a system to determine the RP combat. Because T1 paragraph RP combat is simply too problematic when it comes to performing actions and discussions regarding the legitimacy of these actions. A system like T2, which has a definite method of determining the winner, or something may provide more effective.

There are no restrictions to the type of magic allowed.

There is a big problem, rp fights get boring after a while. One fight is nice!... for those involved.

But the biggest problem is the amount of fights a mage would do. One fight here, one fight there it's fun and engaging. But if you need to fight because of victories to rank up... well... it should get boring pretty fast.

Either way, watching a mage's fight can be veeeeeery boring. Same as watching a normal sword's fight. If you're not involved with it, it's just less boring to walk away.

I actually really like this idea for people who enjoy RP, not PVP. You're stereotyping the community right here. No one is forcing anyone to take part in any of this idea and clearly only those who would enjoy it would join. There's 0 issue with RP fighting in this arena because some people do enjoy continuous RP -- I, one of them. I'm not a fan of swinging a sword and hoping your internet connection is faster; I like to RP on an RP server. I could see this being very fun in any form it takes on.

This is a really good idea. +1, Cyndikate.
