A Resignation

A note had found its way into the hands of those in charge of the Order of Sirame, and those involved with the Order. [ Only people within the Sirame will have been able to read this, therefore only they may respond. ]

I have served a long run since the beginning of the Order until its apparent end, and it is now that I Kairn Calithil formally resign from the rank of El'Tir in the Order of Sirame. It brings me no grief, but I look back only with pride as I served alongside Aenor, Calius, Esgalwathon, and Elsiln, Katar, and Kalina. All of them are my friends and family, and I hold them in the highest regard for their continued service to the Wood Elven people, and also bid them farewell as some have retired. Calius and Kalina have earned their rest and relaxation.

I resign my post due to the fact that the Order is a failure, and the State of Laureh'lin soon to be with it. Rapidly decaying due to its allowance of insubordination within the ranks and the mistakes I made regarding who I should have promoted. Regardless, I am no fool. I will not risk the lives of what few family I have over a trivial, childish and criminal hate that members of the Order such as Berr Athri and Meleranion Khafucker have commited towards me, and while according to those in power it goes "unproved" I know they had a role to play in the slander and death threats towards my mayliu and unborn son. I am not arrogant and vain, contrary to popular belief; I will not risk the lives of family over a petty quirrel that childish Malinorians hold for me.

With this retirement, I bid my fellow Mali farewell as I shall be moving. I wish for Toren to be my successor as El'Tir, he has proved himself capable, and he was a loyal and trustworthy Sirame, the epitome of what we are meant to be as both Mali and military members.

Signed, Kairn Igus Calithil

Calius looks the note over before sighing.

"This is what happens when you let a feud go to far you idiots... Now what are we going to do? We are down a 'Tir again."

He'd walk out with a look of disgust, going to find Mel and Berr.

Toren would read the resignation letter, it would be clear that he was quite torn at the situation but gripped upon the badge that Kairn had left behind.

"Tsk."

"Oh Aspects." Muttered Artimec as he rubbed his face, penning a letter in response.

Soon after a noticed had been sent to Kairn, as well as nailed to the Sirame barracks for all soldiers to see.

"I had some respect for you before, but all that has diminished now with your petty attempt at this public shaming ploy. Firstly, how entitled do you think you are, approaching us with nothing but anonymous threats and telling me who you suspect, with no solid proof whatsoever, and demanding we execute them?

Due process exists for a reason, you make it act so galling that we have the nerve to expect reasonable proof or a confession before we punish someone for a crime he has been accused of.

Death threats are a crime and if found guilty, Berr and Melenarion will be punished accordingly, and harshly, as behaviour such as this goes far beyond the realms of what is acceptable.

But you Kairn, are not a judge, jury and executioner all in yourself. Malinor was a failed state because it was chaos and there was no respect for law or culture. If you expect us to take action on your word alone, as you clearly do, you are no better than the Malinorians you accuse us of being.

I am disgusted with everyone involved in this petty feud. Especially since we must now either pander to the ones who write threats to their superiors or the ones who throw temper tantrums when we insist on following due process. You are both far too entitled and spoiled for your own good, and you both need to realize that things will never fully go your way.

Kairn need a reality check, the writers of these threats needs to learn respect, and ALL of you need to learn patience and discipline.

Chancellor Camoryn.

Aenor sits in his forge, pondering in silence after reading the letter. He stands, before beginning to pace the length of the forge, lapping around it numerous times "This will not go unanswered for. Those who threaten one Calithil threaten them all." Aenor murmurs to himself. He pauses nearr the entrance of his forge, staring out of it with his jaw clenched as he thinks to himself, Insubordination will not be tolerated.

Kairn would hear word of this from a close friend, and sends a note in return.

I held patience and discipline, hence why I resigned instead of butchering the ***** where they stood. I will pander all I wish, I earned the right; I am not a half assed Legislator who walks around the cihi boning anything that walks. I have shown nothing but respect to others once they have earned it, you and the other cowardly individuals who hide around drinking have done nothing to earn it. I upheld your laws for years whether or not I respected you as an individual, I did my duty.

Nobody shall ever punish my family over the qualms they hold for me, I do not tolerate the threats against an unborn child over squabbles that occurred years ago. I've not been anything but fair in how I handled this, I resigned and ended the situation. I wrote this letter to tie up loose ends. Sincerely, K.C.

Upon reading the note Elsiln would sigh heavily.
"I liked Kairn, he knew how to command, I'll give him that..Even though some might have found his punishments harsh, I'll bet you they thinked twice before doing it again."
Elsiln sighs once more before adding, in a clearly disgusted tone.
"Damnit Berr, your giving the Athri's a bad reputation, even though we might be brothers by blood, I won't stand for your hate against our fellow Sirame brothers. I will not tolerate death threats made to your fellow Sirame."

Elsiln leaves his home, searching for Berr, a serious look on his face.

Berr would read the note, and begin to sigh.

ullran... I should have known this was a bad idea. I must apologize at once...

Manning up to my responsibilities would be the only way a Athri would handle it...

the fact that I took this to a childish standard was completely wrong of me..

Berr get's up and leave his house, looking for the nearest officer...

Elvrohir leans back in his chair as he finishes reading the note, clenching his jaw and taking a deep breath. He opens his eyes and glances to the left corner of his office, where a chest sits, gathering dust. Inside are supplies for a long, long journey.

"Mm."

The response is penned simply;

"Due process happens before we take action. We'll look into the suspects you've accused and use what means are necessary to find out the truth. Ad hominem will not help your case and no matter what you may think, you are not entitled to demand a punishment before proof is provided."

In my rage I was hasty, but my case still remains. It's no joke to threaten to murder a baby, nor the wife of an officer while also committing deeds of insubordination. As a Mali I am disgusted, as a man I am disgusted; and first and foremost, as a once-citizen of Laureh'lin I am disgusted.

I made no bid for you to rush, I made it clear what I would do. I expressed my rage at the idea that this had been allowed to happen so many times. Especially after I had made peace with these individuals, both Berr and I fought side by side just last seed against a horde of savage Mali near a ruin. I am sure I am actually the one who promoted Berr, and Aphone was quite angry that he was never promoted himself.

K.C.

The Praetor would sigh as he hears of such, shifting his gaze away from his wife and his new born child, Leithlan. Both of his hands would slide down to the pair of gauntlets that would hang freely from his belt as he'd look towards the burning fire within his lodge, slowly donning them as he contemplates to himself. "Kairn /was/ our best, the one who would take Ceru, and perhaps Elvrohirs position if the time was to come. Such insubordination within the Sirame will not be happened, insulting your commanding officer in such a grotesque manner will lead to heavy punishment dished out by myself."

"Art, you're killing your city."

Archibald hears of the news and the drama revolving around this resignation, and sighs, loitering about outside the walls of Laureh'lin.

"What happened to you, my friend? When I recall the way you were back in the time of the Delvers, you were troubled, ay, but simultaneously you were one of the most level-headed and reasonable people that I knew. I can only imagine that this new demeanor of yours originates from the power you were given over your 'ame kin, but, deep within myself, I'm uncertain. I only wish I could help you in some way, but you're shoving me off. You've become a hypocrite, even . . . You were the mali who believed in 'due process' and justice, but you were the one who threatened to kill me on the basis that I 'irritated' you by trying to hold conversation, regardless of whether or not the topic was insipid."

The southeron swayed his head side to side with a mirthless visage.

"I miss you. The old you. You were one of my best friends. At a time, the only one I had. I hope that you change. Soon."

Ravondir slams his head into the barracks wall repeatedly, reading the note.

"Awwwww man, Kairn was the stopper of insubordination." "Hopefully we keep the Order of Sirame in balance, somehow."
