A Public Writ of Disownment

As Issued by Clovis Fournier upon the 11th of The Grand Harvest, 1522.

The interim-patriarch of the noble and esteemed House Fournier, the revered Clovis Fournier, the first of his name, Lord-Regent of the Marche of Carignan and Proprietor of the Avenese-Palduo Spice Company declares that from the 11th of The Grand Harvest, 1522. Jean Fournier d’Avenese is to be marked from the annals of history and stripped of noble name and from this day forth be known solely as Jean d’Avenese.

The reasons for such being:

  • Lying outside the marital bed with people such as the deceased Wesley of Pravets, Christopher Blackwell and Corbett van Cleef. She did such in full knowledge despite bearing only a courtship with them.
  • Disrespect towards the name of the House, in the form of direct and public slander upon the name of the patriarch.
  • Disobeying commands of the patriarch of the House and publicly going against his will in such a manner that endangers the House.
  • Plotting the attempted murder the honorable Clovis Fournier to cover up a conspiracy to murder Queen Ceriwyn de Savoie (nee Briarwood).

And thus it is in light of these points which have been brought to the Lord-Regent Fournier’s attention that she is stripped of her name. Never again shall she wear the name of Fournier and with it the privileges befitting a noble. She is not to be given hospitality or aid by any servant or bannerman of the House, nor any of those who bear its name.

Signed,
Clovis Fournier, Lord-Regent of the Marche of Carignan, Interim-Patriarch of House Fournier and Proprietor of the Avenese-Palduo Spice Company.

Jean would read the writ of disownment, already having long left Vailor for the continent of Aeldin, blinking once, "A plot to murder.. Ridiculous.. Who in the Creator has Charles left in charge?"
