A GRAND KING ANOINTED

Atop the windswept peaks of Kal’Akash, a buzz of jubilance and excitement could be heard from the clergy hall. Within the stone walls of the chamber, a mass of dwed were converged, the idle noise of a hundred conversations filling the hall with life. From the door, a host of dwarven soldiers paraded in to be met with boisterous cheers from the crowd assembled. As the fanfare proceeded, a certain individual’s presence was made known from the sudden silence that overtook the raucous crowd.

Uldar Irongut strode towards the altar with dignified grace, the lanterns of the clergy hall casting a long shadow behind him. As he passed the rows and rows of his supporters, the dwed ascended to a position before the High Prophet's representative, slowly dropping to a knee.

“Do you accept to uphold the Articles and all they stand for?”

“I do.”

“Do you accept that you will stand by the Brathmordakin until the day you die?”

“I do.”

“Do you agree to guide your people and even in the face of the worst of Iblee’s creations, fight on against evil?”

“I do.”

“And do you agree to uphold the balance of Yemekar’s creation?”

“I do.”

“Then let Yemekar himself bear witness to your reign, and let him judge you, until the days you walk the halls of Khaz’A’Dentrumm. Long live the Grand King!”

The now crowned Grand King of Urguan rose, turning to his people. He spread his arms wide to address the crowd.

“Citizens of Urguan. This day, you see someone who stands before you with pride, joy and wariness. Pride in the unity of our illustrious people and the turbulence we have overcome. Joy, of course, in the faith that has been put in me by these people, but wary nonetheless - wary of the task that now lays at the hand of all Dwedmar.

What might this task be, you would ask? To earn the grandeur our kingdom’s title claims.

My countrymen, we live in a time where every move we make will make or break the success of our state. Our greatness, as a race. Our favour with the Gods. There is no such thing as a citizen of Urguan who does not represent their homeland, and no one Dwedmar who will be seen as something other than a Dwed, and in respect to this, we must now come to conduct ourselves in the only way that is acceptable; with nothing short of perfection of ourselves and state in mind.

For over a decade, self interest has superseded national interest, and in turn, has divided us deeply. The pain of this mistake is still felt, and will be remedied in time. As we act again in interest of one another, in the name of Urguan, in honesty and our determination to reclaim the position we rightfully hold in the center of the world stage.

As we do this, we must be wise to reflect on ourselves often, though. If what you see is not what you like, do not gape or complain, lest you become the idle cancer that would upset the sight others see. Instead, take up arms in the way you are able, whether you must write, fight, forge or labour, and do not let any muscle in your body ache from anything less than exsertion.

We are a proud people, and in ourselves, we can see much to be proud of. We are nothing less than blessed with industrious minds and strong bodies, and everything we have built and cherished since has reflected this: Our cities are cut out of the faces of mountains, each nook and cranny constantly being molded into guild halls, public works and more. Our homes are so grand and sturdy, you would think the sky is more likely to fall than our ceilings, much like how the strength of others shall fail long before ours with the masterworks we so often create.

But no matter how grand we are in both title and merit, we can no longer let pettiness consume our minds. We are cursed with greed, and thusly, we must make sure we are doubly aware of when we are acting against our own interests by gaining at another Dwedmar’s expense. There is no difference in stealing or destroying title nor item; if you are vile enough to commit to action, you are a problem in need of solving. Though this can be done through reflection and rehabilitation, my people ought to know that the state’s criminals will NOT be given any opportunity to evade the law, or the justice our race deserves. Much like a jewel, flaws may diminish the value beyond reparation, and with such duly noted by myself, you will see nothing less than an opponent to imperfection, and a champion of progress.

Celebrate now. Tomorrow, allow yourself to sober up and accept your responsibility once again, and see to a forging a great future. Narvak oz Urguan.”

Fimlin, seated amongst his brother and long-time friend nods approvingly from his bench. He did not fail to notice that this coronation was the first that was not held in the royal throne room.
