VMS proudly presents our second Weekly Newsletter. This week we have had a loss of a great GM, BrandNewKitten has stepped down from GMship and has become a regular member once more. Magic has also suffered a loss of subtypes. Soul Contracts, Arcane Puppetry, and Ascended magic have been removed from the magic system. Even though not much has gone on in this week, we still provide some content. There is more to come next week,all suggestions and content is appreciated.

As a new feature, we’ve decided to do something that's been done before, but with a few changes.  This would be the:

 

Basically each week, a player will be chosen and interviewed, as well as art of their character done by one of our artists!

 

This week’s player, is Ski_king3!

 

 

Now Ski, How does it feel to be our first player of the week?

I don’t know how to feel. I’m really surprised, to say the least. It’s a little weird being on the other side of these interviews. I’m also quite sleep deprived right now, so uhhhhh, I don’t feel much of anything right now.

 

What brought you to Lotc, and what now being here has held you here?

I was brought to LotC by a youtuber called PetriDaGamerNerd. He’s not really active anymore, but he had a short series of him playing on Lord of the Craft. As for what has held me here, I’d definitely say the community. Maybe that’s surprising since everyone talks about how bad the LotC community is, but there are also a lot of people I’ve met who are really cool people that I come to miss whenever I’m off LotC for too long. I suppose I could just keep in touch with those people outside of LotC, but it’s not quite the same. Plus, a great part I like about this community is providing something to it, whether it be work as a staff or crafting a group IC, and doing so in a way other people enjoy.

 

That being said, Do you still see yourself here in Two years?

In two years, I’ll be done with college and hopefully in grad school or having a job. I really hope that at that point, I’m past the Lord of the Craft chapter of my life.

 

Has being a gm changed the way you view the server and player base?

I’m sure it has, but I can’t really think of how it has. I suppose the biggest change of view is rule breaking; some seemingly minor rule breaking can look a lot more severe to GM’s when they consider all the other past bans we have logged, something the average player doesn’t think about/keep track of as well. However, I’ve spent enough time on LotC staff, including the GM team, that the way I view LotC isn’t changed much by getting a new staff position. My thoughts about the server have changed countless times, but typically they’re less to do with what staff teams I’m on and more about the larger issues faced on LotC.

 

What do you think about the recent magics removals?

Well, I am a member of the LM Team, so I obviously have to stand with the team’s decision. That being said, I will say it’s the result of a long culmination of different talks and reviews of different magic types by the LM team and, to a lesser extent, the MAT. The decision wasn’t taken lightly, we’re trying to do this in the best way we can. I think the best way to handle this is for people with strong opinions to contact the LT so we can handle this situation in the best way we can; we definitely don’t want to just leave everyone in a situation they feel is shitty and walk away without listening to feedback.

 

What advice would you give to any new players?

Don’t get too invested in LotC. It’s easy to want to better your character’s station in this virtual world and spend hours and hours each day on LotC. Unfortunately, that often leads people (especially young people) to ignore their more important responsibilities. I’ve done it, and a lot of other folks have done it. Your best bet is to try and find a good way to balance your time before you get too invested. It’ll make LotC more fun and less stressful, and will allow you to keep your real life in order.

 

Do you have any advice to our team, as being a manager for a time on the previous Media team?

I assume this refers to the unofficial media team that’s formed in the wake of the MT’s removal. To y’all, the best I have to say is good luck. You guys will need to deliver a lot of good content to earn respect and create a culture that will persist as individuals in the group pass on. I hope y’all do good, and wish you the best of luck!

because I wasn't given direct things to do or had my team with me. Now that I saw the flaws in the media team, and even when I did try to come back I was ignored. Soooooo... Blame the team before their demise. Now my team has the right drive and path :)  I love you ski though but I'm a blossoming peacock and need to show my stuff.
