A Final Disappearance

In the wee small hours of the morning an absence is noted among the denizens of Dunholz. If one were to journey to the keep and look upon the bed of the Lord they would find an empty spot  and a fine piece of parchment. You pick it up and unravel it to uncover what lies within.

“I do not know how to state this and any way that I might attempt to explain it may not be comprehended, but I shall do my best. My time here is done. It is time for me to move on from this world. I have always felt a close connection to God ever since I was a small boy and he has now decided to bring me forth. I cannot explain for what God has brought me forth. Do not look for me, do not send out parties, because you will find nothing. You will not find me anywhere, for I am simply gone.

I have decided to write this letter as a closing for all those whom I have cared for and those whom cared for me. A final goodbye.

To my dearest and cherished wife, Heather, I have troubled you with my disappearances ever since we met. I have loved you since the first night we spent together and I always shall. You have stayed loyal to me and I have always felt that I never gave enough to you. I hope that you may one day forgive me for this departure. I will always love you most in my heart.

To each of my children, I love each of you and you shall grow up to be strong and willful as all Okenherts are. Stephan, you shall inherit all that is mine. I have good faith in you that you shall accomplish what must be done.

To Brahn, even though we have only known each other a short time, it seems like forever and you have proven to be one of my most loyal men. I task you to watch over Dunholz until my son comes of age and you have my blessing to be knighted by the Emperor if he so chooses to knight you. You deserve it and a small fief shall be granted to you if our most gracious Emperor decides to follow through.

To all those in Dunholz, I have enjoyed my time with you. To all former and current residents you have proven to be a stalwart and loyal people and I will always be in thanks for it.

To Otto Sarkozic, We may have only met for a brief time, but I feel I must write you a good farewell. It has felt like we have known each other for a very long time. You are a good man and deserve all that you receive. May God watch over you, my friend, I will miss you most.

To all the Stafyrs, I am sorry that I had taken arms against you in the Duke’s War. You were generous lords and rightful ones. Even as a little child you treated me with respect and almost raised me in my youth and I thank you all for it.

To Siguine Barbanov, those this message may seem odd, I think the person it is intended for shall understand. You are a good friend and have sought guidance from me. You have done a good job while you were around. Though we seem to have drifted a bit, I still consider you a good friend.

To Raomir Armon, You were around since the beginning, my friend, and we have kept in contact. We have been through alot and it was fun. Stay safe.

To the honor guard, you were good friends and loyal allies to me and my Barony when you were around. I would like to thank you for that patronage.

To anyone I have missed, I apologize for you not coming to the front of my head, but I say a pleasant farewell to you and may God watch over you as well.”

As you place down the letter you would receive a weird feeling as though Gregor was truly gone. No matter how far you search or where in the world you may travel, you would not find him. This was truly his final farewell.

Brahn reads the note, crying for the loss of his friend and lord"I will make sure your name will be known to all, and will raise your son as you would raise him yourself. I will do my best as Lord Regent to make your son into a man that will take the name Okenhert to greater heights. I do not believe that bestowing my name with knighthood would be the right thing right now, as I haven't done enough for the empire"Brahn returns to his study, heart in pain.

*word arrives in Pompourelia about Gregors death, Sam Norwick gets up from his old chair and walks up to the window. As he looks into the sky he speaks to himself, loud enoug for his wife behind him to hear:* "A shame, we had our time, Gregor. A shame indeed. A lord leaves his people. *feelings arise within him. A similar feeling as the day he left Darkwood himself.* "Goodbye y'old bastard, Fair Travels in the 7 Skies. Greet My Alaric for me. *He smirks as his eyes follow the narrow lines of the evenings clouds as a small tear escapes the corner of his eye. he turns around, walking back and sinks into his chair as the jug of ale rises to his lips. With his gaze aimed forward he speaks for himself:* "Fair travels indeed."

Heather's eyes would widen, tears falling from them as she finishes reading the letter, she felt empty as if a part of her had gone missing but remembering Gregor's words she'd attempt to wipe her tears and go comfort her children. "He's gone to a better place... and we have to move on" she'd say gently as she began to pray for him.

Hears the news by talk around Darkwood shortly before he left for good

Mark thinks, "Well, I didn't know you all that well... But you invited me to the Levy when I was 14. Even though I usually have no interest in fighting, my soul was brightened hearing that. The Barony of Darkwood will miss you, Gregor."

Mark takes off his sewn together hat and holds it over his heart, looking up to the skies...

*Rozaliya would be out visiting some shops and the tavern at Darkwood upon over hearing the news of the late lord. She'd shake her head and wonder to herself,*

"He was a good lord just as his Duke before him was. It's a shame what has happened to them both, I remember fighting along side them both at the Duke's War and later serving as Honor guard beside them both. May they both rest in piece, they are with the creator now."
