A Return to Order

A slender elf emerges from the crowd to the podium, donned in the armor of a Sillumir. She removes her helmet, letting her golden hair spill down across her shoulders.

"I, Rivena Scullathar, formally announce my bid to replace the resigning Vallel'yuln as the Tilruir'leyun, and challenge Ciri'lla. While I am sure Ciri'lla would make a fine candidate, she lacks experience in Haelunor, and as a Sillumir, I have seen the comings and goings of all walks of life, from the Pereguin Halflings to an orc named Glub. Recent events have rocked Haelunor to the core, and I aim to steady this ship by creating a welcome and hospitable environment in the citadel. I wish to continue construction of our glorious city, building the literal foundation for us to continue to follow in a positive forward direction toward enlightenment. After all, Ciri'lla has just arrived, and knows not of many our existing projects. While, I concur that she would be a good candidate, she is simply not what we need right now on the council, and I believe that while I may not be able to fully fill the shoes of the great Vallel'yuln, I will try."

The elf gives one last smile to the crowd, dons her helmet, and returns to the gatehouse.

Orchaldir frowns, "What does being in the military have to do with architecture and what not?"

"War often comes with planning and forethought, as does architecture. My experience as a SIllumir also helps my ability to welcome new citizens more thoughtfully, as I have acquired that skill through hours of gatework."

"Let it be so!" Ikur Seregon calls from the crowd.

"I am in heavy agreement with the miniscule Mali'aheral!" Aiera Seregon chimes in from next to Ikur in an overly cheerful tone.

Seth shakes his head a little before calling out. "I never thought this day would come, I agree with said miniscule mali'aheral as well!"

"While enthusiasm is appreciated, being a Sillumir has nothing to do with building, and Ciri has been with us for much longer than you." states Lyu.

Rivena gives a curt nod to the elf

"The duties of the Tilruir'eylun extend beyond building, and the position is also in charge of welcoming new players and managing housing. Regardless, being a Sillumir cannot hurt? Can it not? As for building, I have already began to plot a continuation of our projects under construction, as well as offer a few architectural choices of my own... all in good taste of course."

The Maheral stands  amongst the mali'aheral. He speaks "No offense to you Ms. Scullathar but according to your housing application you are gifted in science, alchemy and the written arts. Nothing has lead me to believe you are also interested in architecture. On top of this Ciri'lla has been here much longer than you. If this citizenship request is right you have only been with us a couple of years. Despite any talent you may have it would be beast if you wait before diving into politics. If I cannot dissuade you then as a citizen I ask to see any examples of your work as well as the list of projects you have planned."

Ciri'lla would resume her stance in the citadel after hearing the girl's claim.

"I accept this challenge to my position; this is a state of silver that will never ignore their citizens. I wish you the best of luck llir in your pursuit for my current rank. However, I must address your claims. I have been here for longer than you and mingled mostly with a larger mass than you. I adhere to positions and opinions of others including yours so I have good in mind for this state. May the election tell who the citizens really believe will run this state most efficiently, not by preference and personal ties."

"I understand your skepticism Maheral. My residence here has been ephemeral compared to my opponent. As to explain my housing application, my current novel is on the architecture of Vailor, and I will spare you my thesis as to how the science of color has everything to do with aesthetic architecture. However, I can assure you that I am capable of handling this position. Current projects I have planned emphasize not wasting a single speck of dirt. As we stand, the facilities on the other side of the bay form the citadel stand cold and unused. I have attributed this to the fact that they are simply not easily accessible."

She unfolds a large scroll with a crude outline of her plans done to the bay area. *pictures at http://imgur.com/a/CAhhQ

"We could do one of three things. Firstly, we could create an open walkway stretching from the front gates across an open wooden bridge to the other side, shown in Diagram 1. It would cost few resources, but lack security.

Secondly, we could demolish a few rooms in the west upper wing and create a covered bridge walkway across the bay. While this plan is ideal, it is going to cost us many resources, as shown in Diagram 2.

Lastly, we could create a covered staircase going over the arch of the bay. This seems the most balanced of the three, but would abandon the already existing bay bridge construction project, as shown in Diagram 3.

Another project I would like to highlight is the use of the back patio. Currently, the patio is a barren shell. I would like to create a closed walkway connecting the citadel to this scenic piece of land. As show in Diagram 4, the patio would enclosed by a vaulted roof, and contain enough chairs for leisure and major meetings. Personally, I think it would be a delightful spot for a wedding, and is dreadful in its current state.

I can also reveal new plans to you all if necessary, as I have several drafts for a major defensive overhaul of our coastal walls.

As to address the words of my opponent, only this can I say. She is worthy of the council, but simply not the right for the position. She has been put in place without our voice in the matter. She speaks words of truth, that indeed our nation is shaken by recent events and now needs a strong leadership. However, this Tilruir'leyun has not proposed a single bit of policy, not a single structure, not a single qualification other than her long residence here. When rebuilding, we need a council that will be assertive to not only put the people's needs before their own, but to actually act. We don't need someone who is only words, and the Tilruir'leyun is not a position for someone like that either. I have proposed several actions already to improve our quality of life, as well as maximize our use of the land we have earned. Is that not what the Tilruir'leyun is for?

I concur with my opponent in the sense that you should vote for the one most qualified for the position, who will act through the people, for the people, for the betterment of our city and nation. Thank you."

Maheral speaks again "Ideas are ideas. I have more ideas on what to do in terms of architecture than I could possibly use. What I am looking for is a portfolio of past work, from both of you."
