Writ of Disownment

As issued by Richard Staunton upon the 17th of First Seed, 1540

It shall be heard throughout all of Oren that the patriarch of House Staunton, heir of the late Percival Staunton, first of his name, the Duke of Courland in his own right, has, after much consideration, reached the conclusion to disown William Staunton, younger brother of Richard Staunton.

Not only has William insulted and disrespected those of his own House, and the friends thereof, but has deliberately and foolishly spread falsehoods and rumours in a desperate attempt to slander the Staunton name and that of other houses.

William Staunton has been given many chances to recant and to correct his unsavory behaviour; but has thus far failed to show any form of improvement. As such, there comes a time to draw the line. The Duke will no longer stand for such petty behaviour. Therefore, William shall be stripped of the Staunton name-- including all of its associated privileges.

Signed,

His Grace, Richard Staunton, the first of his name, Duke of Courland, Patriarch of the House of Staunton.

Natalia sets down the quill, leaning back a bit in her chair. Her eyes skim the writ once more, before handing it over to her husband, who sat beside her. "That should get the point across, don't you think?"

Josef Vladov carefully reads the most recent document published from the Duchy of Courland. He smiles widely as he reads and comments on said document, "A smart decision by Duke Staunton, the Duchy of Courland has a bright future with his rule."

"Though the boy is soft in the head, perhaps disowning all the family members isn't good." A young Knight of Oren would comment whilst conversing with another.

Alasdair d'Aumont hears word of this while he makes his way towards Courland from Felsen to check on the Aumont Mercantile farming operations in the region. "Is this man being disowned the same man who was bickering with another noble on the streets of Felsen oh so long ago?" He asks himself with a puzzled look on his face. "I believe it is. How silly and childish the nobles of these lands are."

Axel would hear about the writ as he passes through Courland and into Braaburg, he thinks for a moment before finally speaking out.

"A wise move m'lord…"  he would mumble as he begins to enter the keep doors. "Now there is no longer a foolish man running around abusing nobles and givin' us a bad reputation, as well as being a retard and getting int'eh fights."  Axel would say this, marching down the stairs to empty out his leather supply.

Thorburn sits a few meters behind the Duke, guarding him while the document is prepared. When he is addressed he says emotionlessly "That is a wise Your Grace. William Staunton has caused us enough problems."
