IRP, my bird isn't on my person, but flying around in my general area, circling around overhead. My bird either has a prewritten message attached to it which basically says "come to me" or it will fly to the other members of my group which is a signal to come to me, they locate these people because they also have the same kind of bird flying around in their general area, which my bird is able to see when it flies higher in the air, the people then know my location by the direction in which the bird flew from.

Sure, but animals and ig messaging systems should at least be balanced and make sense. 

People writing out messages, summoning a bird out of thin air and then it tracking the other character in seconds is just ridiculous.

It should be balanced out, yeah. But by balancing it out would require more supervision and stuff, something the staff probably don't wanna do.

They should just scrap it because it makes no sense. 

Obviously people are still going to meta, and if they do it in skype or outside of LOTC then it is hard to prove. But it's always fairly obvious when a group of armed people turn up out of no where. 
Just because it is hard to moderate doesn't mean we should accept it and let people use this supposedly lore friendly messaging system.
