   I often wonder if people realize that birds aren't psychic. I also wonder if people realize that if you write out a letter in front of someone, they'll see you do it. Furthermore, I wonder if people realize how carrier pigeons work irl. They don't find specific people. They don't know where all your friends are at all times. They're actually only trained to fly home. So, you leave the bird with someone who may have reason to send you a message. If the need arises, they'd place a small message in a canister on the bird's leg, and let it fly home. Somehow, in lotc, however, not only do birds somehow know where every individual in the world is at all times no matter what, but people also seem to somehow be able to write a whole letter, attach it to a bird, and send it off on one of these magic birds (which is somehow available to them at any moment's notice) without the people standing right in front of them seeing them do so. I'm not really expecting anything to change as a result of this rant. The main reason I'm posting this is because I guess I'm hoping at least one or two people on the server will think about the realism (or rather lack thereof) of sending invisible, psychic birds every time their characters get into some trouble. I know that's wishful thinking, but it is terrible rp and a form of the play-to-win attitude that's supposed to be discouraged on this server.

I, for one, believe message birds should be against the rules, and cannot be done in combat or beyond places like designated mail bird stations suited for the occasion of calling to other players IC. Message birds are little more than a convenient means to metagame with a thin IC layer coating it as an excuse.

I think birds should be aloud if it is just to send one for a meeting but if it's to get more people to help you since you're in danger then it's not aloud. Imagine this you send a bird since you're in danger then 7 of your body guards come to help you. For the other guy the RP is annoying and unenjoyable as hell please stop this.

Wait I thought of a idea, how about a timer for the bird to reach a person, so it might take around 1 hour for the message to be received. But I do know that will mean that saying hi to your friend will take a hour to get,but ooc messaging is a big way of meta and then this removes another way to meta.

I'm not sure why this is brought up for a discussion when LoTC is a "Medieval FANTASY server". This server's roleplay isn't suppose to be based off of 100% realism.
