The Dove Maiden Letters

Katherine strolls idly through the streets of Felsen, eyeing market stalls and chatting with the occasional friend. A blue ribbon catches her eye and she moves closer, taking the scroll and reading it thoroughly. She tucks it into her pocket for safe keeping, and continues on with her day. The message plays on her mind throughout the day, and mixed feelings stir inside her.

When she returns home that evening, she shows the letter to her mother Liriel, who scoffs at it and tosses it into the fireplace. Kathy frowns slightly as she watches the paper catch, the parchment slowly turning to ashes. Once her mother left the kitchen, she snuck forward to quickly nab the last bit of paper from the hearth.

Holding up the piece between her fingers, half of a blue dove symbol stared back at the young woman, ringed by the light of the fire.
