The Dove Maiden Letters

 Share

Recommended Posts

Upon entering the city of Felsen or the various major cities of Oren, rolled up letters secured with a sky-blue ribbon could be found scattered about in odd places - on the edge of fountains, sticking out of doorjambs, or even under a tankard of ale in the tavern. Upon unrolling the parchment, in a scrawling script written in a heavy hand, would be various letters from one penned "The Dove Maiden," with a seal printed on the last page of each letter. There would be no further indication of who the author was besides that she was an unmarried young woman (supposedly; the letters could have been written by a man) of Orenian origin. New letters would appear on occasion in the night, ready for readers to partake in the next morning.

Who was "the Dove Maiden"? Was she someone who condemned others or someone who encouraged them?

"What tripe. There are scant few women who can actually afford to shirk their labors to instead lie about at home," says Bertrand.

Osiris feels uncomfortable at the sight of such a letter; he runs to the mirror looking at himself. He screams out pounding his chest wildly "I am an Alpha male, I am an Alpha male!"

"Ah, simple solution to all this then, men need to be women. Only logical conclusion"

Rosa reads a copy of the letter, sitting at a bench in Istria. She shrugs, "I never felt I was rebelling by being part of a legion. Roswell asked that I join."

Somewhere in the fires that were the true opposite of the Seven Skies, Alessandra looks upon the letters from below the surface, cringing profusely.

"At least my Sabia knew her place was in the kitchen. What a good girl. Unfortunately, she is above and I am below . . . Hopefully the men of Oren teach the living women their rightful place- as a quiet housewife."

She'd give a meager pause, simply a thought as her body was no longer living. "The men should take their tongues, should they speak. Should they write, their hands should be removed. This is the true Orenian way."

Rhys tosses his copy of the writ into fiery embers grazing logs in his fireplace that heats his castle. He says to Athirius, his son.

"This is a fine example of a defiant woman with nothing but the intention to cause madness, but she won't succeed. It is but a cry for attention, and people should refrain from giving it to her, or him, if it's a homosexual."

"But, if our Empire did not recruit every man, woman, and child to be thrown forth into the pikes of the dwarven army, how possibly could we win wars?"

"At least the Empire has women and children...when a species such as the dwedmar are such a sausagefest can one really blame folk such as Hogarth for developing...certain preferences?" Enepay retorted with a self satisfied smirk!

Aisha realizes that everyone commenting on the Dove Maiden's papers have misread, as it clearly states that women should not be rebelling against their place in life, and that the Creator intended it for them. Perhaps, Aisha thinks, people get so sensitive about the topic that they forget to think and instead babble about nonsense.

((Thank you! Not that I agree, but yes!))
