Fights where rolls are done on every attack are absurd. I've never understood why people would allow a fights outcome to be based off chance.

The only reason I enjoy it in tabletop RPGs is you can show experience and skill with your character by having a lower chance of failure. I'd honestly prefer RP default for small groups and make PvP default for everything else (Nothing I expect to happen, I've grown to accept PvP default is and will continue to be the norm). The roll feature should only really be used if there is a dispute in RP that can't be resolved. I agree with your sentiment, its beyond me why you'd just leave it up to chance when there isn't anything beyond a dice roll to keep you from winning or losing.

Really? Then clearly someone has never played D&D before.

D&D and Pathfinder have a plethora of modifiers, LotC doesn't.

I have. Characters in D&D have stats/attributes corresponding to their class which then affect what rolls they need to be successful. In lord of the craft no matter what character you are playing, everyone just rolls 20 and who ever gets highest is deemed successful in their attack. You are making a huge false equivalence. Why are D&D fights relevant to LOTC?

Because D&D is the heart of all roleplaying games. WoW was inspired off of D&D and warhammer while everquest is inspired directly from it. Heck, even lord of the rings had SOME elements from D&D in it.
