The public stands in the center of town, whispering amongst themselves in the shade of the shops and stalls.

Hopeful merchants attempt to peddle their wares, but the potential customers are too focused on the rumors.

The Council of Merchants

Only for serious and true discussions is the entire council called together. And the recent events that have taken place, ever since that stranger

and his goods have stepped onto our shores have left the public in a flurry of questions, rumors, and assumptions.

Eventually, the white doors of the meeting room open up, parting the darkness and the voices of the public. Multi-colored robes slide along the stone as the merchants exit the building, lining themselves along the walls to make room for their cohorts. Finally, the strange man and his goods are wheeled in a cart covered by a plush purple cloth.

The man looks to his left and right, securing nods of approval from the Council of Merchants, before stepping forward.

"People of Sutica, and those that will soon hear of me and my wares in distant lands, I come offering you something powerful.

Sharper than any blade, more tenacious than any shield, more complex than any alchemic recipe...."

The man steps back to his cart and whips off the purple cloth, to the gasp of the onlookers. People crane their necks and stand on the tips of their toes to see over the heads of those before him. But they need not, for the man lifts two of his goods, leather back tomes that almost shine in the light of the sun's rays.

"I offer you, knowledge!"

At this point most of the public sighs and groans, some turning away. A small man, a librarian in a past life, gives a slight girlish scream of joy, as if Krugsmas had come early for him.

The exotic man sees the crowds reaction and in an attempt to re-obtain their attention, he continues.

"Not any knowledge, my dear friends. I would not drag you along for such simplicities. No, these tomes offer you knowledge to get ahead of the competiton!"

The man steps forward to a group of bakers and chefs, holding a tome before him.

"Ever wonder how you could get your meats to taste moister than the others? Hmmm?"

The chefs look at each other from the corner's of their eyes, before giving an awkward laugh.

The man approaches the fletchers and bowyers.

"Or perhaps, how to make the strongest bow, one that can outdo all the rest!?"

The fletchers and bowyers cross their arms, seemingly uninterested to the untrained eye of merchanting. But their ears wide open and fixated on the exotic man's words.

"Yes, my friends, craftsmen and gatherers alike. I hold here tomes-"

The man raises a tome over his head with both hands, the sun's rays cause the tome to shine brightly like an idol of some archaic and lost civilization, rescued from the bowels of some lost and forgotten crypt and only now seeing the light of day for the first time in centuries.

In a loud and powerful voice, he bellows. "TOMES OF FINITE KNOWLEDGE & POWER!"

The crowd gasps at his words, enthralled by his show he is putting on. A smile forms, hidden at the corners of his lips. He lowers his hands and places the tome on the cart once more.

"And it can be yours, for a simple, small, miniscule fee."

The crowd rushes the exotic man and his cart of tomes, the old librarian leading the charge, waving his money in front of him and demanding the exotic man to take his money.

*Sharpens his elbows and pushes to the front*

"I shall take whatever you have to advance my knowledge of blacksmithing and stone-working whatever the cost!"
