"We pledge to protect not only Haelun’or, but all elven lands [and are]  trusted

with the responsibility to protect the borders of the Dominion."

— The Oath Made by the Vigil to the Dominion of Malin, 1560

Seeking out the Sirame of Laureh'lin the Vigil set out to the forests of Laureh'lin. They marched through the twisting forests of the wood elves, searching for the Sirame they had so been told had set out many days ago to 'patrol the forests'. As they approached a clearing, the site of one of the many wood elven docks, they so spied from a distance a gathering of shadowy figures— all clad in black, their faces covered in masks. As the Vigils approached it became evident that these strangers to the forests of the elves were no ordinary men— they stank of rotting flesh.

As the hours turned into days, the Vigils began to track these men. Following them from a distance. Though the party had begun only as a group of 6, the other Vigils who had been scouting the more far reaching parts of the forest slowly converged on the main group. The party of 10 continued to follow the men, stopping only to catch a small modicum of sleep before continuing to follow the strange spook-men.

Eventually the strange figures came to stop in a clearing, whispering amongst themselves— an occult ritual? A moot of nefarious intent? The Vigils did not know. But moments later came a hideous roar, echoing through the trees as a giant green beast tore through the forest and barreled into the group of cultists. Through they had summoned such a ferocious beast, it became evident that the cultists had lost control of their creation— it lashed out at them— smashing a small Ethiopian child and killing him almost instantly. The Vigils retreated to the roots of a nearby Great Tree, allowing the Cultists time to become weakened fighting their own creation.

Just as the beast began to tire, the Vigils burst forth, advancing— spears and blades pointed towards the vile Cultists. A great fight began— as the cultists revealed their vile forms. Bone-beasts, stone monstrosities and dark mages began their fight against the valiant, and vigilant, Vigils. The Cultists, already exhausted and partially defeated by the green beast of their own creation fell to the blades of the Defenders of the Elven realm. Eventually the great giant retreated into the forest— and the Vigils began to combat the few remaining dark creatures which remained.

With the culling of a final Paleknight, the great battle which had unfurled in the elven forest had reached its completion. Skulls, cursed armor and the bodies of dark mages littered the ground. The Vigils picked up their wounded and made their retreat— knowing they had so cleansed a great evil upon this day.

The Lich thinks, moments before its death "How strange it is! That this giant almost completely avoids these vigils, they must surely have some strange influence over the creature." would then be penetrated heroically by Lysio's long golden weapon, dying instantly.

"Nobody cares." mumbles a grumpy ex-Druid, continuing on his way, having seen the aftermath of the battle or something.

Drauch, slinking off from the scene beneath the murky waves of the Wood Elven lands grumbled to himself quietly, shaking his head. He'd kick a passing crab rather aggressively, his steel gauntlets creaking beneath the strain of his tightly clenched fists.

"Losing to mere boy-scouts isn't acceptable... I need a ******* meal." he'd conclude, his constantly weak body trudging off, ever so slowly knitting his various cracks and wounds back together.

"I blame..the Ashkeeper."  The ghoul's raspy voice echos out of its rusted and odd helm while its rotting gaze surveys the scene.

"Even though they took out this threat... I simply cannot feel their motivation is pure, perhaps it is because of this bit of propaganda",Alirya mused while enjoying tea in those very forests
