The Ruric's Death

As the vicious creature walked forth to the Ruric a harrowing smile creeps across his lips, the things misty black sword lunges out in an attempt to impale the man in the gut, as the tall black-haired man goes to parry the blow with a flick of the wrist he catches the creature off-guard, the Ruric then lashes out to strike the fiend in its chest, the creature steps back and raises its blade skyward; parrying the thrust with ease, as he does so a black tether latches from the sword to the Ruric, within moments the mist encases the man, his energy fading at a rapid rate as a burning flare of antagonizing pain flies across his skin as if threatening to make it perish.

The man's face drains of blood as he strikes out once more before his already shaking legs give way - Nevertheless, the fiend again raises its sword, as a sickening smile covers its maw the now anxious man's lips quiver, as he leaps forth in glory in his last futile attempt to kill it - By now the Ruric had realised that he had met his match and with his own sword raised high in the air he shouts his families words, the words he had known for all of his life and had heard many times in said pitifully short life:

"Iron from Ice!"

Upon witnessing the man jump for a last futile the fiend thrusts out his blade to impale the man as he leaps. The blade impacts with the Ruric's chest, where his lung is situated - And with that the man who had seen twenty-four years, the man who had climbed the ladder from the Barony in Nyrhold to the Earldom in Ostavar, and later had witnessed the awful rebellion that had gotten many an innocent man dead; swings in one last vindictive attempt as he slashes his sword in a curving swoop in the direction of the fiend's neck, it connects with the thing and blood instantly rushes from the wound.

The fiend's pupils gain their original colouring however the mist does not cease to encase itself around the kneeling body of Njord. As the draining continues Njord meets the point of exhaustion, small flakes of his skin now begin to perish and wither away.

As the Ruric fully realises the situation he is in his eyes begin to flutter and his knees quiver one last time before he falls down on them, his digits then slowly curl away from the pommel of his sabre as he drops his sword. The Ruric then forces his head up to look at the creature who's lifeblood was now rushing out of the large gap made in his throat, a thin line of dark red blood escapes from Njord's lips and then grunts in an agonised pain as he looks down at the floor he embeds one last despondent expression as his skin withers and floats away in wisps into the cold mountainous hall.

The creature, now looking fully human again falls onto the floor. His eyes slowly came to a close as his own life came to a close. The Ruric finally collapses onto the cold floor as he struggles for breath, a small tear escapes his eye as he takes draws in his last breath, his eyes close as his life force deteriorates. His skin wisps away as he dies, exhaling for the last time.

His wife - And now a widow - Gave birth a few days later, to a bright-eyed little girl, their only child.

"I may be incorrect, but I believe in honour and friendship and loyalty without price or deal; and  these are virtues to be cherished, without them we are no more than beasts roaming the land, simple vagabonds with no point to be alive, our future is dictated by the good deeds you do every day, and of course; the bad"

~Njord Ruric

And so, the story of Njord Ruric comes to a closure, and now his watch has ended.

((OOC: And now the life of Njord Ruric, a long time persona of mine has ended - Time to move onto new pastures?))
