Deadlands


 

2297, two hundred and twenty years after the world was turned to ash through nuclear fire. Two hundred years of humanity clinging to life, factions rising and falling, the memories blown away like dust in an irradiated wind. All manner of mutant life has sprung up, and the moral fiber of every man and woman is tested. But it’ll never really change. . .

 

Because war. . .

  • Don't argue with a mod in public, take it somewhere private
  • Keep things within the universe of Fallout. Making new technology is pretty much not allowed.

Overview

 

This is a Fallout nation FRP. You control a faction, from cliche raider gang to a possible chapter of the BoS. Each faction, being custom, have their own perks, disadvantages, and bonuses decided by the Moderators. Keep in mind, since this is a Fallout based world, it’s unlikely a faction from the East Coast will ever get into contact with the West Coast, and would be lucky if they ever got through to some middle america factions.

Perks and Disadvantages

Each Perk and Disadvantage has a certain cost. Some Perks cost more, such as being a Brotherhood Chapter, and require you to take disadvantages to balance the cost. Other perks cost little, and you can get away with no disadvantages. Every Player starts with 5 Perk Points. If you wish to go over, you need to take disadvantage points, which have a refund value. Population Boost perk and Well Liked perk are incompatible with Enclave Remnant, Brotherhood of Steel Chapter, and Deserter Brotherhood of Steel Chapter.

Optional Backstory:

Originally sent as an expeditionary force in 2239 to scout and secure what remained of the Northwestern state of Washington, the Enclave forces in the Northwest would soon lose all contact with the government following the destruction of the Oil Rig in 2241. Assuming they were all that remained of the Enclave save a few other small divisions deployed throughout the remains of America, the Northwestern Operational Force, which had secured a large portion of pre-war Washington, set up the Republic of Washington, in hope of that perhaps America could live on in them. The various Vaults were opened up using Government codes, or smooth talking, and the inhabitants, if they were unaltered, accepted into the new government. Ruined Vaults, destroyed through Vault-Tec experiments were carefully studied and pilfered.

 

While considerably less cruel than the original Enclave from which they hailed, the Washington Republic is divided by classes. Ghouls are usually used as slave labor in isolated camps, or purged from society. Those whose genetics have become altered from the original strain of humanity or those whose ancestors became too exposed to radiation make up the Working Classes of the Republic. Those from the Vaults, and civilians who had either come from the Oil Rig or their descendants occupied the Upper Slass; business owners, politicians, scientists and other influential figures in society. All citizens are required to serve a minimum of four years in the Republican Army, the lower class making up militia armed in mostly combat armor or similar equipment, while the Upper Class were trained in Power Armor and energy weapons.


The Government is a form of Military Dictatorship with small Republic values. Towns usually elect their own Senators, who are upper class, to represent them in the government. The Republic is headed by the Field Marshal who has total and complete power, elected by the Officers of the Republican Army to ensure he always has the support of the armed forces, or at least most of their support. He of course is required by law to be of the Upper Class.

You do realize that, First the deadlands are mostly controlled already and Second THIS IS A MEDIEVAL ROLEPLAY SERVER!

In the year 2185 the NCR faltered. With the boomer assault on the New Vegas strip the NCR lost its foothold in the Nevada desert. Soon after that the NCR troops were pushed back into California by the legion, Unable to resupply with aircraft via the new Vegas airport the NCR was unable to put up a good defense. After capturing the Hoover dam the legion halted its operation and ceased its assault. In the next two years a series of political disasters inside the NCR forced Aaron Kimball to resign particularly the deletion of classified terminal messages. The NCR split into several terrirtories taking on many different government styles and names. The NCR along the California coast was the only territory to remain true to the founding fathers wishes...

Leader Name: Shepherd of the People, Steve Maple

 

Government Style?: Democratic Tyranny (the leader voted in has absolute power until the next election.)


Optional Backstory: The fallout, for its great destructive power, was merciful in the loosest sense of the word. The people on the western seaboard of Canada were spared- of nuclear warfare, yes, but not of the raiders, psychopaths and warbands who marched or invaded or harried their ever-changing borders. The people got together at first, attempting to wall themselves in, though found it ineffective at gathering resources or claiming important or large enough swathes of land. Finally, many began to break away and move south, marching along the coast in the famed 'Maple March,' an act spearheaded by Steve Maple- having seen a brother lost in fighting against a particularly savage attack. Finally, after days- weeks- of slogging along the coast, they came upon a bay, in which lied their salvation.

 

The island of Vancouver offered an amazing defensive position, ample land to farm and live upon, and an urban cityscape ready to be re-colonised. It at first proved troublesome to reach, but it seemed the waters toxicity had died down to the point where swimming was taken as an option. Upon arrival, Steve joined forces briefly with the native peoples of Vancouver, who had gone feral from drinking the water in its prior condition- and Steve led a coup that destabilised their force and broke them down well enough to be assimilated, enslaved, or driven off completely. The people decided, quickly (and with considerable pushing from Steve), to assume a democratic tyranny- where the man or woman voted into power by a great majority shall serve absolutely for five years- upon surrendering the Maple badge to the next Shepherd of the People.

 

Steve, in his third year of reign, after having been elected in a five year term, sits firmly upon a pyramid of hard-working, well-armed people, prepared to protect themselves at all costs, and determined NEVER to allow themselves to be driven out of their new, sacred home. Such bravery lends them the motto,

"To give the enemy an inch of our island, is to give them our complete consent to be annihilated."

Optional Backstory:

After the nuclear fallout the world was completely divided. The European nations of the UK, France and Germany were exhausted by the nuclear war, struggling the sustain their economies and populations. With democratic talks and signing of treaties they re-founded the European union as a singular country and not one made up of nationalist division. Quickly expanding their growth and power by bringing the people under one banner. They engaged with peace talks with the other surrounding nations and focused on clearing up the nuclear soiled land to once again live as they once did, people began to work on agriculture, water and energy to clean the environment.

But now other groups and factions set their eyes on the reasonably peaceful country, moving to take the land and technology they had worked hard on. The European Union, under the leadership of the Britannic state governmental mp Winston Churchill II, has no choice but to now focus its thriving economy away from rejuvenation and back to destruction because war.... war never changes.

Mouth of The Land, Hickory Dims, Agriculture

 

Government Style?:

Technocracy. The government is broken up into three different heads. Agriculture, Trade, and Civil. The workers of each branch are chosen by a test given at the age of 10, 13, and 17. The series of tests are given as the child progresses in age to slowly determine the position the young adult will serve in. At the age of 18, after the last test is reviewed the position is given. The way to climb to the top of each government branch is through dedication and hard work. A single head of the government does exist. It is chosen from the three leaders of each branch. I.e. If a growing season is good, the Agricultural head may be voted in as Mouth of The Land(Leader). Terms last for typically 3 years or until pressure causes a shift in power.

 

Optional Backstory:

After the break up  and fallout of the old United States, several books detailing the pre-war past were discovered. These artifacts were depictions of the past of Louisiana. Found within a water proof vault (regular bank vault) under a crumbled and blackened building (State house). Each book contained different materials within them. The past trade networks of the Mississippi, the agriculture of a bread basket, and the social networks of a civilized society. After the books were discovered, a great storm collapsed old dams and most of the land was turned into a flooded swamp. With each set of books new knowledges were learned though. Upon the flooded land, new trading lanes emerged, great floating farms were sown, and order reclaimed the felled land. To keep the prosperity continuing, leaders of each major resource were created. Leading to the now trading boom of, Louisiana Garden.
