Lielle's Poetry Book

A book, bound in brown leather, could be found resting beside the steps leading into the Des'Nox home. Across the front is scrawled Lielle. Maybe she forgot it the last time she was sitting on the steps, writing in it. Or maybe it was left there on purpose so others could read it. One will never know just why it was there. What could be inside? If you open the book, you may find something of interest. You may not. You'll have to open it to find out. Should you choose to pick up the book and read it, you would find a number of poems written on the pages.

The first page of the book would have a small note in the top right corner. It reads 'For my cousin, Mizziyrn. I know how much you miss your wife and children'.

Devotion

The time without you, it has been long

And my heart still sings the song
Of sorrow without you here,
But I'll forever hold you dear.

My devotion will not be swayed,
And I miss you more and more each and every day
That passes by with you here.
Forever, I'll love you my dear.

Your laughter and smile,
The sounds of our children,
Holding you both in my embrace,
Are the things that I miss the most.

You will forever live on in my heart.

And whenever I do depart
From this world at my life's end,
I will be with you again.

There would be no note on the next page. But there would be spots scattered across the page where something wet had fallen and dried.

Remember

So many years have passed by,
Since the day you left my side.
It's so hard to not cry,
As I remember every detail.

The feel of your white hair.
The kind look in your eyes.
The smile that was always on your face.
The helping hand you always offered.

The way you showered us with affection,
And never failed to say just how much you love us.
The flowers you brought,
And the warmth you gave.

For a moment, I'm a little girl again.
You're still here, a smile on your face.
As you kneel down and stick a flower in my hair.
I reach out to you, but you're whisked away.

Far too soon, the moment is over.
You're no longer here, and I'm grown again.
The tears begin to fall,
As I'm stuck longing for my father's embrace.

This page would have a small note in the top right corner. The note was written more recently than the poem on the page, since the ink of the note isn't as faded as the ink used for the poem. The note reads 'Who would have thought those red eyes belonged to my husband'.

The Night

Time has blurred by,
Memories have faded.
But one night remains clear,
A night that I will never forget.

So dark that one could hardly see,
In a small town outside of the bridge.
A place where I was caught,
By men who wished elves dead.

Fear flooded my entire body,
As I saw my death fast approaching.
My eyes closed tightly,
Awaiting what fate they had for me.

But what plans they had for me,
What torment they would have put me through,
Were stopped by a group,
Clad in midnight blue and light armor.

One stood out the most among them,
A tall masked 'ker in front of me.
Our eyes met, however brief it was.
His eyes were an intense red I'll never forget.

Their victory was easily won,
And just like that, they were gone.
Those eyes remained fresh in my mind.
Whoever he was, the night will only know.
