Hello everyone and welcome to my 5th anniversary AMA. The objective of this thread is for me to answer questions relating to my character, myself, and the Ascended as a group. I am not opposed to feedback, and I will attempt to answer every legitimate question or satisfy any curiosity. Maturity is appreciated, and troll responses will be ignored.

The Ascended are under new management as of September, and I've made strides toward making the order a respectable organization on par with other popular guilds. We now total twelve active members, more than the group has had in multiple years. We also have a rewrite in the works and plan for release on January 1st to welcome in the new year.

why won't you let it die?

There are a few reasons.

The Ascended, on paper, have an extremely rich history that many guilds cannot match; because ours actually happened. The battles against the Undead in Aegis, the tales of the original Sages, even the departure of Haven makes for a lore-rich guild basis. From start to finish, you can have an entire lecture lasting a couple of hours if you dive into every detail.

Secondly, and probably the most notable, is that our players tend to be extremely dedicated. The fact that the Ascended have managed to survive for five years is already a feat, but then we tack on how many of those years were spent powerless until the resurgence in Anthos. At our lowest point there were only two active Ascended, and yet despite all of this our drive to roleplay has kept things moving forward until we find ourselves where we are today.

Lastly, why not? There are other groups just as old as the Ascended. On the subject of our original goal as protagonists I say this; people, groups, and roleplay all change with time. Just because a task has been completed is no reason to kill off a perfectly good group with perfectly good lore and perfectly good players.

Do you plan on changing the system of actually getting connected? Simply "doing good deeds" doesnt really sound right

Why the interest in limbs and limb like appendages recently?

It actually wasn't my first choice. The Ascended found themselves in a predicament; we had no leader, no students, and no roleplay for the stretch of a month. In this state, we realized it wouldn't be long until we collapsed by ourselves or the MAT put the final nail in the coffin. I was then given a choice. I could either remain as I was, a soulbound pearl with telekinesis, or become the Master Sage and try to salvage what we had. While I often miss my time as an ender pearl my time away has given me perspective and I do believe that character arc needed to end.

Nowadays the Ascended have been rebuilt and the roleplay has never been fresher. I believe I made the correct choice.

Why do the Ascended love Elvira's homemade mochas so much?

Literally. You guys are so hooked onto it!

In all seriousness though, how does it feel to be leader of the Ascended? I have an idea on how it's like, but hey, nothing wrong with asking for your own view.

Once I seized control of the group my first act was lessening the restrictions of recruitment greatly. Whereas before we managed between 1-3 candidates a map, we now have a system very similar to open-recruitment. If you're a scholarly sort, you'd probably enjoy the history lessons and basic fundamentals that go into our new training process.

Will the Ascended stay dead this time when they inventively be put down for the betterment of the server?

You are honestly in a position where you could poison the entire order, everyone just loves that mocha! I think it helps that we're all living in a stone keep on top of a snowy mountain. Reaaaaaally chilly.

At first it was strange and bewildering. Back in 2011 when everything now was just beginning I had very little contact with the Ascended and never sold into the hype like a lot of players did. The videos were inspiring, sure, but I mostly kept to my own peddling group. Even years later when I joined the Ascended I told myself I didn't want to lead, I just wanted to enjoy myself and let someone else handle all the politics. But then, as fate would have it, there I was. I had my options weighing in the back of my mind a full three days before I finally decided to accept the position. Now that the dust has settled I'm actually very content with my choices and I'm enjoying the best roleplay I've had in years.

I'm afraid that's not likely to happen. You almost got lucky a couple of times, but thanks to recent events the Ascended won't be dying out for a very, very long time.

Let's see.

Elvira is a Master Alchemist and a good cook who knows how to make poison and poison oils that can be placed onto weapons and in drinks.

Yep. Definately in that position where I can poison the whole order if I wanted to. But of course, Elvira won't do that!

For now.

That's probably one of the better ways to die, honestly. Delicious hot chocolate and coffee, then death.
