Sul-Ghaaraul #1: The SandRipper

An Old Orc sits around a fire, surrounded by cubs and their parents, as well as some other races’ kids and parents. As you sit down you hear him, “So you want to hear a story, hmm? I will tell you one.” His face becomes contorted with a scary yet ominous look. “I will tell you the story of the SandRipper…” He nodded. “In Vailor, two cubs had left the desert city during the middle of the night, regardless of the numerous stories and warnings of the SandRipper. A beast long as the vines that grow on the highest trees with beady red eyes. It’s strong as a Myrzym, and fast as a Lur wolf.” He paused for the kubs to gasp and marvel at the description, “Yes, yes. It’s skin was the color of sand, with a texture to match it. It is a terrifying sight. Now back to the story, the foolish kubs had walked on the beast! Thinking it was regular sand!” He gasped in horror, the kubs following his example. “The beast awoke, hungry and angry at the kubs! It moved up from it’s sandy slumber, the kubs had tried to run but one had been grabbed by it!” He paused again as the kubs erupted in horrified gasps and some had even run back to their parents, afraid to look.

“The other one had tried to help their friend, only to be grabbed by the beast’s tail! Slowly, he felt his bones being crushed as it’s tail tightened around their bodies. And finally, the SandRipper had eaten the first kub! Their friend, horrified couldn’t look to see the amount of Lur warriors wielding spears and torches running it’s way. The beast, horrified, ran off at the sight of the amount of Lurs and their fire. As an elder dismounted, he told the remaining kub this; ‘This is your own foolish fault, for you both had ignored our warnings and stories. And because of this, we have lost one of our own.’ the kub was devastated at his friends’ loss. But for the rest of his life he could feel the SandRipper following them wherever the Orcs went… hoping to prey upon lost and alone kubs.” Suddenly, the storyteller gasped and pointed behind them, and there would be a Lur wolf, with a basilisk skin draped over it to give it the look of the SandRipper. The kubs would flee to their parents at the sight of it, or to the nearest shelter. That being a tavern as the parents would laugh, be scared themselves, or be angry since the kids will have nightmares now. This left the storyteller to his own laugh, “There will be other stories, so please, come back all throughout the elven week for more.” He grinned.
